Another deadbeat, mortgage-defaulting politician
Yep, we’ve got another deadbeat, defaulting politician on our hands. Guess how many paragraphs you have to read before her political affiliation is revealed? Hint for those who don’t have the time to dig deep down to find it: She’s a member of the same party to which deadbeat, defaulting Congresswoman Laura Richardson belongs. Via the Wilmington (NC) Star News:
State Sen. Julia Boseman and her former domestic partner have defaulted on a $1.3 million mortgage on a house in a ritzy subdivision near the Intracoastal Waterway.
The house is now expected to be sold at public auction later this month after Boseman and Melissa Jarrell, the head softball coach at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, failed to pay months’ worth of bills on the loan from Regions Bank.
Boseman and Jarrell, who lived together and were raising a son before separating, had the mortgage on the house at 1526 Portsmouth Place in the Avenel Subdivision just across the bridge from Figure Eight Island.
According to evidence presented Wednesday at a hearing in New Hanover County Superior Court, Boseman and Jarrell hadn’t made the $7,156 monthly payments on the house since Aug. 1, 2007.
The current principal balance owed to Regions Bank is $1,249,000, according to the court records. With interest and other fees, the total owed as of April 21 was more than $1.3 million.
According to online New Hanover County tax records, the couple purchased the property in June 2005 for $1,350,000. More than $4,700 in New Hanover County property taxes are also owed on the property, according to county tax records.
Paying your mortgage and taxes on time is for chumps.

The most ethical Congress ever.
As another famous NC native would have said …
“Surprise, Surprise, Surprise” …
NOT!
She is a Democrat, a Minority and ENTITLED!
Nuff said here.
Waiting for libs to blame it on the fact that the deadbeat couldn’t “marry” the “domestic partner” …
This is insanity.
Absolute insanity. When can we throw these losers out of office for misappropriation of funds, misrepresentation, and other unethical behavior?
$7,156 per month payment?????
For a State Senator & the UNC-Wilmington Head Softball coach?
What the hell were they making?
That’s ridiculous. But yet - I’ll bet she says she can ‘relate’ to average Americans….
Riiiiiigght
Never, their Dimocrat, their entitled to lie, cheat, steal, subvert the law and nay other underhanded things you can think of.
It’s Bush’s Fault!!! Wait, don’t they like bush?
You know the only reason they defaulted is because they are economically challeged lesbians, and that they are being discriminated against.
/sarc off
2 people, prominent and high paying positions, cant get it together and pay the bills? Can we just give them a free ride???
Si, se puede!
ugh.

Amazing that they love to probe into the personal financial aspects of people running for office and try to eliminate them from the race if they have had those problems before … but once they have been elected nothing like that matters any more …
Am I the only one noticing that?
A lesbian softball coach? Who’d have imagined THAT? Amazing. A first, no doubt, in the annals of softballism. Just call her “Charley”. I’m sure the eviction police will.
Softball coach? No WAY!
Michelle there are far more disturbing admissions in this article. The first and most disturbing is how you remove your name from a title without the co-title holder knowing. Do I smell something fraudulent here? I don’t mean to assume, but I think she did this knowing it would somewhat shield her from the bankruptcy (in the public eye - not to the lien holder) - which leads me to problem number two, her claim she did “everything she could to avoid” this situation…which sounds like it amounted to only surreptitiously removing her name from the title.
If this is everything she could do to avoid this, she certainly doesn’t need to be in public office.
obviously, the voting public does not really analyze the candidates before they vote. they see a D or an R and they select based on the alphabet. short of a real revolution, not sure how this corruption can be stopped. i have absolutely lost all hope of changing the politics of this country. way to much power belongs to both the dems and repubs. these two parties are destroying our country. there are other parties that exist out there and if the media would stop acting like there are only two parties in this political system and provide the same time to these other parties people may begin to wake up to a real choice. they are sheeple being lead by propaganda machines callled the modern journalist (MSM).
The fact that being an Independent means you have the choice of voting for either a Dem or Repub is absurd. I keep hearing from folks well your vote for another party is just a wasted vote. No my vote for another party is my way of revolting against the dems and repubs as there is no difference between these two parties. They are one and the same. We are doomed
Have no fear, come re-election time her constituents will put her right back in office.
Stupidity is rampant in this country.
It just keeps on getting better.
Time to look for another country to move to. Tired of this crap.
.
No. But your vote for a third party is a vote for Barack Obama. That’s how Bubba Jeff won in 1992, remember?

Lets see……… Democrat, gay, female, corrupt. Yeah that fits all 4 Lib food groups. No problem, nothing to see here.
#8……../rimshot
John Ansell–har!
My brother sells real estate close by, very toney area & expensive. Maybe I can get my wife to run for office & I can coach softball to be able to afford it.
Wouldn’t you like to have a nickel for every time that has been thrown back up in Nancy Pelosis face?
You didn’t just realize you are a lesbian did you, ezu?
HAR as well! I am gonna use that even if you won’t let me!
My wife and I are struggling with two house payments since the market meltdown. Combine that with the high cost of food and fuel and we feel like we walked into the perfect storm. But by the grace of God we are paying our debts. We sacrifice and do what needs to be done unlike these losers. If this is what we have to look forward to with the coming marxist government I will be genuinely discouraged.
Sooner or later the “silent majority” will get fed up with this nonsense and break out the whooping stick. It will be brutal.
I would like to go ahead and buy an advance ticket for that, please. That is definitely “must see”.
Soap, be my guest.
Hmmh, how very interesting.
Thanks spo. I think I will make one change though:
Democrat, gay, feminist, corrupt.
I have a lot of friends who are female but not one who is a feminist.
feel sorry for the son they were “raising”…..
Just acting like “typical” lesbians.
on-my-soap-box, do you mean feminazi?
Here is the mutt
Bozeman
Quite frankly, that cannot come soon enough.
From this sort of behavior, to the very real thought-policing facist tactics used by the politically correct to force people (conservatives) to embrace liberal points of view, to just the immoral and corrupt crap that’s in our public sphere, it’s high time those of us who are fed up start speaking up.
Let’s take back this nation from those who are destroying it.
NOW!
Much better - thanks!
I don’t feel sorry for her but I would be willing to help start a fundraising drive to help Ed McMahon become current on his loan. I know that it sounds silly but I felt very sad when I saw the report about Ed not being able to pay off his mortgage and Countrywide starting a foreclosure lawsuit.
WHAT THE HELL?! Isn’t the people that have been voted into office just wonderful? And how about those lovely TV personalities? Their all just great outstanding citizens!
I feel for the little boy.
Honesty from a lib. How refreshing! not…
Including a party affiliation in the same sentence as “former domestic partner” would be duplicative and unnecessary.
That’s as far as I had to read before the party affiliation guess work was eliminated.
At least I do not think she can claim that she just didn’t know that Melissa Jarrell, like someone else we know always does.
The actually troubling thing to me was that this is a “REAL ESTATE LAWYER”. She apparently really did know what she was doing.
If she gets out of this one, I bet many folks that have real estate problems are going to want to make an appointment with her. Then again, they may want to make an appointment, but I do not think they will be able to afford her fees.
Just walk away - she’d understand.
Monthly payment is $7,156 per month??
When I bought my house, I bought a less-expensive home than the bank told me I could qualify for. What that meant was: is: I did not default on the loan when my marriage broke up, because the note was reasonable enough that I could continue to pay it; it means I have enough money to take nice vacations; it means I have enough money that I can pay my way in cash rather than maxing out my credit cards; etc. etc.
Why do these people need to live in million-dollar homes when they obviously cannot afford to?
Why? Didn’t you hear that they are entitled?
Yeah, imagine if this was a Republican…the headline would read:
REPUBLICAN Boseman, former domestic partner default on loan; house to be sold at auction
They’d make sure it was bold, italic and first word of that headline.
Way to beat a person when they are down folks. Sounds like she broke up with her partner, how sad. I don’t believe in the gay lifestyle but that is not for me to judge. I’ll let her explain it to God.
People default on house loans that does not make them corrupt or bad. I’m sure she would have preferred to stay in her home but circumstances (maybe of her own doing) prevented it. I wish I could say I never made a poor financial coice in my life but I would be a liar if I did. Who of you can say they ALWAYS made the correct financial choice?
Figure Eight Island??? Good lord.
Those have been multi-million dollar homes for as long as I can remember.
Unless they’re both trust fund kids or had come into a large inheritance, those two had no business purchasing a home there.
Hell, celebs can barely afford to buy there, let alone softball coaches.
One thing is for sure…with all the damned Yankees moving to Wilmington…they’ll have no trouble selling the place.
AZYGOS#46: BOTH of these individuals are in positions of trust (particularly the elected one). Your comments do not ring true with me. When I purchased MY home I knew exactly what type of loan I had and what the important details were. These are supposed to be educated women who are raising a child. What kind of example is this to set? And, while we’re at it, you explain to me how someone can remain in a home without making a single mortgage payment for almost ONE YEAR? i refuse to tolerate this kind of childish, irresponsible behavior and if their behavior is in fact unlawful, both of them should be punished for fraud to the fullest extent of the law. Please do not make it sound that posters here are being unduly unkind to these people.
Doesn’t this amount to an illegal campaign contribution on the part of the bank, even if it was involuntary?
{^_^}
Sure, it takes that long for the typical mortgage company to process the paperwork. Often the mortgage company will ask the defaulted homeowner to stay in the house until the paperwork is processed. It is not a crime to default on a mortgage. As far as the folks here calling this woman all kinds of things I’m not going to join that bandwagon. She may have all sorts of reasons for us to hammer her but defaulting on a loan is not a reason for it.
azygos, defaulting on a loan should disqualify her for being an elected official, in my humble opinion. yes, i do believe my elected officials should be held to a higher standard than the average folks they represent.
she is a real estate attorney, and she knew what she was doing. she chose to do other things with her money rather than be responsible. that takes many wrong choices not just a bad things happen to good people kind of event.
Spot on, uhangtight. There are MORAL obligations associated with holding public office.
Paying for housing is my number one priorty in this family. It comes first before any other bills. Fortunately, we pay our bills on time and have an excellent credit score, but if the situation came up, this house comes first. Apparently, to some, taking money from anyone (or businesses) with the promise to pay it back, doesn’t mean anything anymore. Honor, respect and reputation mean nothing. In the past, such people ended up in jail. Nowadays, it’s “jingle mail”.
This entire defaulting mortgage “problem” is a scam to give dirty Democratic politicians taxpayer money. (read steal honest working people’s money)
#36 I also feel sorry for Ed McMahon and want to help. Hollywood swells like him shouldn’t be hurting at this stage and deserve their $$$ aeries on Mulholland Drive worth in excess of $6 mil. I blame it all on the evil BusHitler.
My uncle had dealings with McMahon many years ago and said he was really arrogant horse’s ass.
For those of you who are not aware - I do work in the loss mitigation area of a major bank. I help people try and keep their homes. There is a big difference between Ed McMahon and these congressional losers. Yes he is behind on his mortgage and it was probably more home than he could afford. Perhaps he did not invest or invest wisely. But McMahan does have a medical condition - he fell and broke his neck last year. This would possibly qualify him for a modification. Therefore, he is not in the same category as these politician who simply chose to walk away. Especially Laura Richardson - who basically walked away due to the power trip she was on.
I’m sorry, but this Ed McMahon thing is really starting to get to me. This man is in a much better position than most. I wasn’t aware of him breaking his neck last year, but please, there is a thing called a savings account that you keep in case of emergencies. We have one that has at least 6 months worth of mortgage payments and bills that we normally have to pay every month in case of an emergency where there will be no income coming in. I made sure we had that BEFORE WE BOUGHT OUR HOUSE! And when we bought our house we didn’t buy what the bank said we could afford. We bought a house that we were comfortable with. And then there is also a thing called disability income. Hell, if stupid illegal aliens can collect it, why can’t he? There is something wrong with this picture.
I think this State Sen. Julia Boseman is scheduled for a real life awakening. She has her name still on the note and title of the property making her still responsible for the debt even if she thinks she is not. If the property goes on the block and if the full amount owed is not gotten for the property she and her other will be responsible for the amount of what was not collected on the sale of the property. If the foreclosing agent thinks that their client can retrive the difference from her and her other by sueing them, then she and her other will be sued and if have to they can be forced into bankruptcy. If she loses the election, I think she will be in a world of hurt, because where else will she be able to obtain the funds if she is sued. This happens every day in real life in the U.S.of A.
Momm1dofgirsl: I glad to see you have done this. but believe after 20+ years oin the banking/insurance induustry - I would say you’re 1 out of about 100,000 that does have this.
Appears to me that we are quite a bit over represented by homosexuals in congress.
“Domestic partner”. Isn’t that special.
