Who’s to Blame for High Gas Prices?

For several decades, the Democratic Party has pursued policies designed to drive up the cost of petroleum, and therefore gas at the pump. Remarkably, the Democrats don’t seem to have taken much of a political hit from the current spike in gas prices. Probably that’s because most people don’t realize how different the two parties’ energy policies have been.

Congressman Roy Blunt put together these data to highlight the differences between House Republicans and House Democrats on energy policy:

ANWR Exploration House Republicans: 91% Supported House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Coal-to-Liquid
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 78% Opposed

Oil Shale Exploration
House Republicans: 90% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Exploration
House Republicans: 81% Supported
House Democrats: 83% Opposed

Refinery Increased Capacity
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 96% Opposed

SUMMARY

91% of House Republicans have historically voted to increase the production of American-made oil and gas.

86% of House Democrats have historically voted against increasing the production of American-made oil and gas.

PAUL adds: It’s useful to keep this sort of thing in mind when we hear (on something like a daily basis these days) that the Republicans have run out of ideas or that Republican ideas didn’t work. The truth is that most major Republican ideas weren’t tried because the Democrats blocked them. Increasing the domestic production of oil and gas (a move so obvious it barely meets the standard for being an idea) is hardly the only example. Social security reform and school choice also come quickly to mind. Republican-backed policies for increasing the number of Americans with health insurance were also blocked by Democrats. And so forth.

The only country to block increasing its own oil drilling, block nuclear power, block coal power, block natural gas drilling, block power transmission lines,block refineries, block efficient diesel engines is the same country to which will not defend its borders and control immigration, demand those who would become citizens to become Americans (i.e. assimilate), whose schools teach it citizens NEGATIVE citizenship (i.e. America is evil, racist, and the cause of all the planets problems. The same country whose media, teachers, politicians, and legal systems seek to exterminate knowledge of right and wrong and diminish religion. The liberals have attacked the heart, mind, and soul of this Nation. Look for a very strong push soon for a total gun ban before the deterioration of this formerly great nation begins to stink like BO, and people rise up to force those who are guilty out of power. The Dems know a counter-revolution is coming. Watch them unleash a crime wave upon the middle class by emptying the prisons and continuing to undermine justice in the courts. An attack on freedom of speech and of the press is already well underway – BO will do everything possible to silence his critics.
It is fortunate that so many Dem leaders are elderly and will pass soon naturally.

How can a person take these women seriously when raw sewage has been streaming into our oceans for years right under their noses?
If the Climate scare is such a crisis one would think this would be a TOP priority.

I am with you on the hypocricy, but where do you think all the fish and whales do their business?

Of course, their likely rationalization is that fish poo is natural and probably cures cancer and our poo is evil (and their poo doesn’t stink.)

What turned my head was when McCain said HE was interested in a *progressive* government. I REALLY hope he’s just talking through his hat on that.

It ain’t his hat he’s talking through. It doesn’t bode well either way,that (a) he doesn’t understand or know the meaning of “progressive” as we know it, or (b) he DOES know exactly what it means and doesn’t give a rip what we know or think.

He’s giving further signals that continue to make conservatives uncomfortable or downright afraid of him.

It seems he just wants to run to feed his ego and destroy the Republican party.

If he wants “progressive” he should just campaign for Obama.

Oh, wait. That’s what he IS doing, covertly.
