Hillary exits, the PUMAs roar

Scroll down for updates…12:31pm Eastern Still a no-show. C-SPAN says she’s running upwards of an hour late. Hmmmm…Allahpundit’s got all the latest at Hot Air…

Hillary’s giving her concession speech today at noon. Her campaign will run the full statement on her website. You’ll be able to find it everywhere else on TV and the Internet, too. But if you view it at hillaryclinton.com, you’ll get something extra special: A bombardment of donation requests. She’s buried in debt–now at $30 million– and begging for cash.

Today, Hillary puts her nice mask on. Via USA Today:

In today’s speech, Clinton is poised to do what she didn’t in remarks at a rally in New York Tuesday after the final two primaries, lavishing praise on the victor and vowing to back him fully.

Since he swept the opening Iowa caucuses in January, they have battled to a near draw through more than 50 contests. It ended Tuesday with the South Dakota and Montana contests, which sent him over the 2,118 mark in delegates. That’s the number needed to be nominated at the party’s national convention in Denver in August.

He will be the first African-American nominated by a major party for the presidency. She would have been the first woman.

Obama said he was taking the weekend off in Chicago. Before meeting with Clinton late Thursday, after a campaign rally in northern Virginia that drew 10,000, he told reporters, “There will be a time and place when she and I will appear together.”

In a fundraising appeal, campaign manager Maggie Williams said Clinton would use today’s event “to thank all of her supporters, to express her support for Senator Obama, and to talk about the issues that have been at the core of her public service, the issues she will continue fighting for.”

Clinton hosted a thank-you reception Friday for campaign staff workers, who trouped past reporters and photographers to her home in Northwest Washington.

It was in the sunroom of that house that she taped the video launching her campaign. “Let the conversation begin,” she said then. “I have a feeling it’s going to be very interesting.”

How are Hillary’s female voters feeling? Try bitter and clingy:

“It makes us feel schizophrenic,” said Martha Burk, immediate past chair of the National Council of Women’s Organizations. “For the first time in history, we can see that a woman can and will be president,” she said. But the campaign, which Burk and many other feminists said was riddled with sexist attacks in the media, “exposed barriers that we thought we had overcome years ago,” she said.

Legions of Clinton’s female supporters, especially older women who lived through the struggles of the second wave of feminism in the ’60s and ’70s, are expected to show up today at Clinton’s concession speech at noon in Washington. And many are not prepared to concede her loss, presenting Obama with an added challenge of winning over ardent female Clinton backers he will probably need to capture the presidency.

Hundreds of women have logged onto Clinton’s campaign website, with many insisting they will not vote for “that man” – Obama – and urging Clinton to run as an independent or challenge Obama’s nomination at the August convention in Denver. Many on the website pledged to vote for Senator John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive GOP nominee.

Other websites have sprung up to denounce Democrats for picking Obama. One – called PUMA, an acronym for the sentiment “Party Unity My Ass” – features postings by Clinton supporters saying they will never vote for Obama, even if it means electing McCain.

Can the PUMAs and the Bitter Wimmin Brigade be tamed and appeased?

Hear them roar.

Someday a woman will be elected POTUS. When it happens, I’m betting she won’t:

    1. Be married to a former president who turned the Oval Office into the Oral Office, lied under oath, was impeached, and lost his license to practice law, all while she stood by her man and blamed a “vast right wing conspiracy.”
    2. Have turned $1,000 into $100,000 in the cattle futures market, something only a very few savvy investors could do legitimately.
    3. Claim to have been named after a person who was unknown to most New Zealanders, let alone Mr. and Mrs. Rodham at the time of her birth. This is a fact that is so easy to research that Clinton is a fool for having said it.

I remember watching the Watergate hearings 35 years ago and seeing this 20 something prima donna known as Hillary Rodham. She was a phony then and she’s a phony now.

I’d tell women like Martha Burk that sexism has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of men like me who will vote for a woman for POTUS when the right woman comes along. Hillary Rodham Clinton is not that woman. Hillary Rodham Clinton didn’t get dissed in this campaign for being a woman, she got dissed for being Hillary Rodham Clinton.

I can certainly understand their anger and frustration. Having the MSM and party elders do everything in their power to ignore the wishes of their base? Where did I see that before?

Say what you want about Hillary, but objectively she is a better candidate for POTUS than BO. Obama has spent 2.5 of his 3 years in the Senate running for President. He is nothing more than a Hollywood facade – an optical illusion created to show a convincing exterior to create the impression of a solid structure. When shown from only one angle, it is a convincing illusion. But when viewed from other angles, it is exposed as nothing more than a sham.

McCain or Obama? Hemlock or arsenic?
