Crazy Denny K swings his impeachment noose again; Wexler mob wants McClellan to testify

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 9, 2008 08:41 PM

Scroll for updates…

In case you’ve been missing impeachment mob theater, the lead actor is back. Rep. Dennis Kucinich was back on the House floor tonight introducing a 35-count resolution to impeach President Bush. Kucinich delayed introducing the impeachment resolution after speaking with House Judiciary Committee members in January. Guess he got a green light. You’ll recall that five months ago, he promised to bring articles of impeachment against President Bush to the House floor on the day of the State of the Union address–and was forced to withdraw BDS remarks declaring the State of the Union a “lie.”

(See WaPo editorial page editor Fred Hiatt’s demolition of the “Bush lied” mantra here.)

The Cleveland Plain Dealer blog reports:

Cleveland Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich took to the House of Representatives floor on Monday evening to introduce a 35-count resolution to impeach President George W. Bush.

Kucinich claimed Bush “fraudulently” justified the war on Iraq and misled “the American people and members of Congress to believe Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction so as to manufacture a false case for war.”

“President George W. Bush, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense warranting removal from office,” Kucinich said.

Kucinich said in January that he planned to launch an impeachment effort against Bush, but delayed his effort after meeting with members of the House Judiciary Committee. The Judiciary Commitee hasn’t acted on a bid Kucinich launched last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney.

Update 9:25pm Eastern. He’s still on the House floor reading his resolution. Currently whining about Gitmo and the crackdown on illegal aliens from the Middle East.

Meanwhile, I’m on impeachment co-ringleader Rep. Robert Wexler’s e-mail list. He sent out this message tonight:

Our campaign for accountability for the Bush administration is making legitimate progress.

I am pleased to announce to you that the House Judiciary Committee has met my public call for Scott McClellan’s immediate testimony with action:

Today, Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers officially invited Mr. McClellan to testify under oath on Friday, June 20th at 10AM.

After all of our hard work pushing for impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney – the McClellan hearing provides our cause with a legitimate opportunity to showcase the crimes and violations of this Administration for the American people, the mainstream media, reluctant members of the Democratic party, and sensible Republicans. This hearing provides us our first genuine opportunity to enter the public consciousness and change the dynamics that have prevented true accountability for Bush and Cheney.

Mr. McClellan was a major figure in the Valerie Plame/CIA scandal, as well as a leading propagandist for the Bush White House’s deliberate attempts to hide the true costs of this war from the American public. As such, Mr. McClellan will testify under oath (and be subject to perjury charges should he lie) and be asked about the following matters:

What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney , and key administration officials take in the effort to reveal the identity of covert CIA agent Valeria Plame Wilson – thus destroying her network and putting lives in jeopardy?

What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and key administration officials take regarding the firing of U.S. Attorneys or political reasons?

What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, key administration officials take in conspiring to blatantly break U.S. and International laws prohibiting the use of torture?

I call on Mr. McClell[a]n to immediately accept this invitation and testify under oath as he previously agreed to while being interviewed on national television.

During the hearing I will have roughly five short minutes to question Mr. McClellan and undercover the illegalities committed by this Administration – which is why it is critically important that every representative on the Judiciary Committee hears your voice. Please let them know that you demand answers to these questions.

Nor should it stop there: Karl Rove has thumbed his nose to the Judiciary Committee’s subpoena – joining Harriet Miers, Joshua Bolten and Vice President Cheney’s Chief of Staff David Addington as the only Administration officials in history to claim Congress has no power to even bring them before a committee to be questioned.

I have called for Karl Rove to be held in inherent contempt and for the other renegade officials to appear as required by their subpoenas, or be forced to do so by the House Sergeant of Arms.

What the Judiciary’s request of McClellan proves is that if we stay vigilant – if we call loudly and repeatedly for accountability - that we become very difficult to ignore.

Please stay tuned. I hope for more developments soon.

Anything to distract from the Dem leadership’s field of broken promises…

    Ah, Kucinich.

When the candidates were in New Hampshire, a lot of radio hosts were broadcasting from there and interviewing them. Kucinich appeared on Boortz’ show, and Boortz grilled him good. I wish I could find the audio link, because it was priceless. Here it is in a nutshell, though:

“Did you hear my interview of Kucinich yesterday? Amazing, absolutely amazing. Kucinich started rambling about getting rid of the Bush tax cuts and making the rich pay their fair share of taxes, so I decided it might be time to see if this 10th District Congressman from Ohio actually knew what he was talking about.

    He didn’t.

Kucinich has a long history in congress of trying to shift the tax burden away from low and middle income Americans onto the backs of the high-achievers. In 2003 he sponsored a law that would give a “refundable” tax credit to protect low and middle income people from having to pay Social Security or Payroll taxes. Kucinich, who is chairman of the “Progressive” (that means liberal) Caucus also proposed something he called a “tax dividend” for every man, woman and child. Well, almost every man, woman and child. He wanted to limit the dividends paid to the top 1% of income earners to only 1% of the total tax cut.

Well, there’s our clue. Kucinich doesn’t have any idea in the world how much of the total taxes are paid by the top one percent of income earners … so I asked him two questions:

    1. What percentage of total income is earned by the top 1% of income earners?
    2. What percentage of total federal income taxes are paid by the top 1% of income earners.

The answers were astounding. Congressman Dennis Kucinich thinks that the top 1% of income earners earns about 60% of all income, and he thinks that they pay about 15% of all income taxes. The fact is that the top 1% of all income earners pull in about 18% of all income and pay 38.8% of all income taxes.

This is an astounding level of ignorance on such an important statistic. You can excuse a mother of three loading up on Happy Meals for her porky little kids at a McDonalds for not knowing this .. .but a member of the Congress? Remember .. the Clinton tax increase passed the House of Representatives by only one vote … and Kucinich was there … there without a clue … there voting for a tax increase on people he thought earned 60% of all the income but were only paying 15% of all income taxes. Inexcusable.”

Not that I need affirmation of the stupidity of democrats, but what exactly are they trying to do, lose another election.

The 2000 election, considering the state of the economy and the country at the time, should have been a slam dunk win for the dems, but from the clutches of victory, the inventor of the internet was able to lose and then have the audacity to blame it all on the votes in Florida which never turned in his favor.

Then in 2004, amidst a great fury of media hatred and deception, the dems should have all but walked away with a victory, but behold, they nominate a man they can not even put on camera lest he screw it up and they still screwed it up.

Now, here they go again in the midst of an election. The good news, is they decided, you know, if we can win with one, let’s have two democrats run. Surely, they are bound to have a liberal in the WH this time, or . . . is Bob Barr right around the corner . . .

The great thing about this fall election, is that a win by Obama means that the American people are putting the blame for this country’s numerous problems squarely at the feet of the Republicans. And what if the Dems pick up some more seats? November will show who the big Loser is. Is it the democratically controlled Congress, or the pathetic Bush administration? CNN/AP writer thinks Henry Kissinger is a war criminal in fluff piece on Stephen Colbert.

Still, few lose when they enter Colbert World. Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee’s unlikely rise late in the Republican primaries might be partly attributed to appearances on “The Report.” Though viewership for the program is relatively small (it draws around 1.2 million nightly on average), Huckabee showed himself to have a better sense of humor than his competitors.

A study conducted by political scientist James Fowler of the University of California found that politicians often receive a slight uptick in donations following guest appearances on the show.

Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer appeared on the show several times, including one visit that records show came just minutes before he telephoned to schedule a meeting with a prostitute. Colbert later joked that his “whore-dar” wasn’t functioning properly.

Spitzer had been a guest for one of the show’s most memorable episodes: a surreal guitar “shred-off” complete with a cameo from Henry Kissinger. How Colbert views having who many consider a war criminal on the show is reflective of his politics: humor trumps all else.

After Kissinger’s appearance on the show, Colbert wrote him, thanking him for being such a good sport. “Thank you for lending us your dignity because it was the source of our comedy,” he wrote.

You have brought the MSM acceptance of a planned political smear against Bush.

Ever why Wilson was chosen to drink sweet tea for a couple of days in Africa, and issue a report on whether Saddam Hussein was seeking uranium in Africa?

Why he issued his report, not to State or the CIA, but in a New York Times editorial?

You do know that an antiwar State Department aide of Colin Powell, Richard Armitage, was Novak’s source that Valerie Plame, Wilson’s wife, was CIA. That Armitage informed Patrick Fitzgerald, the confirmed bachelor special prosecutor, that he was the source early in the investigation, but that Fitzgerald, perhaps with Andrew Sullivan-esque motivations, didn’t inform anyone at the White House but continued asking questions, until he finally got Scooter Libby to contradict himself, not in an attempt to obstruct justice, but because he probably forgot?

If you only read the MSM, you are dangerously uninformed.

Seriously, does he and the Dem leadership think this is going to help the cause for Obama? I personally don’t think so because as it gets closer to the election and they trot this little show out, they will find most voters will be turned off by these antics.

The only ones they will seem to placate are the nutroots of the Dem Party (who seem to be in control of the House sadly).

Finally, on Sat. HIllary mentioned that of the last 10 Prez elections, Dems only took 3 (Bill C. x2). Does it dawn on these people why that is? Surely they can’t be that stupid? But here is Denny K. trying his best to help the cause.

As bad as the Republicans are, the Dems seem to be worse.

Now Queen Pelosi has allowed the twisted alien spotting elf from Ohio and flaring nostrils Wexler to waste valuable time on their BDS theatre instead of addressing the current energy crisis the Democrats and RINOs have engineered over the last 30 years. The only way we are going to get right of these perpetual children is to either vote them out (highly unlikely due to the Democrats love of voter fraud and fixed elections) or an uprising of the masses to run this morons out of DC on a rail after a good tar and feathering. I am really getting sick of this crap and so are many clear thinking people in this country (not that there are many of us from what you see from the MSM and their manufactured polling results).

Ahh, the Bush lied, people died slogan that some 5 year old can recite.

    Look at your own statement:
The crimes Clinton was accused of didn’t hurt as many people

So….its ok for Clinton to do something, as long as its numerically less than something a Republican does? That’s rather nice of you!

If you want to talk about people being hurt, Clinton and his pro-Chinese stance(ya know, where he was giving them missile secrets and other scandles…the Tsu being on the other foot as it were LOL)…China has such a PERFECT human rights record and never harms anyone…well, we dont want to discuss that because it didnt hurt as many…or did it…

The argument about Bush’s decisions and the damage its caused arent so arguable based on the numbers, but you’re not going with that. There are tons of things that Clinton, and liberals in general, have done to harm others and you don’t complain.

How’s that Darfur thing going, btw? Just saying.

This Congress hasn’t been able to get their promises fulfilled, because Bush didn’t support them, and they couldn’t gather enough bipartisan support to override

Emphasis (loud) yours not mine. Also, Bush used his first veto of dem pork barreling July 19, 2006, a full five and a half years into his presidency. He’s only had some 10 vetos in all and mostly were employed because the bills presented were loaded with pork having nothing to do with the underlying purpose of the bill. I don’t recall even one bill having been presented by Obama or any other dem in regards to energy so how exactly has Bush caused that problem? The so-called housing/mortgage crises? Where’s the veto? Hardly a record of presidential obstruction as you whine about. Show us the evidence blow-hard and quit using statements without the facts to back them. “Talk to strawmen much?” Ahaha, that was too easy.

    Now, it only gets better:

Again, I’ll rationally state that this Congress has been unable to get bipartisen support for their bills, and Bush has used his veto to block important legislation

No, lgm, the crimes Clinton did that hurt so many people were not investigated and tried. Clinton sent the U.S. Armed Forces into Kosovo in order to stop the “brutal” Serb Army from hurting the Muslim Albanians. The Army kicked the Serb forces out of the villages and towns and formed barricades to prevent the Serbs from getting back in. This allowed the Albanians to go on a rampage against the Serbs. You know, all that peaceful stuff they are about, cutting off heads, burning down churches, raping women. The U.S. forces orders were to keep the Serb army out.

A young guy from my reserve unit, i did not go on deployment there, came back and told me that he thought the Albanians were the worst people in the world after seeing that they had burned down an elderly Serb woman’s home. She was sitting across the street screaming, but the mission was not to help, just keep the Serb Army from being able to protect the Serbs.

It turns out, even the U.N. had to admit that the so called atrocities committed by the Serbs were not factual. The Republican Congress should have crucified Clinton for dragging the U.S. into the middle of a conflict where the facts were not really true and apparently “cherry picked” intelligence was used to make us a puppet of the U.N.

Hy*per”bo*le\, n. [L., fr. Gr?, prop., an overshooting, excess, fr. Gr. ? to throw over or beyond; "ype`r over + ? to throw. See Hyper-, Parable, and cf. Hyperbola.] (Rhet.) A figure of speech in which the expression is an evident exaggeration of the meaning intended to be conveyed, or by which things are represented as much greater or less, better or worse, than they really are; a statement exaggerated fancifully, through excitement, or for effect.

I forgot. Your “blame Bush” crap for everything that is wrong (perceived or otherwise) is so inane it shows that your entire education has been a complete waste of taxpayer dollars. Most assuredly you must also believe that the President (only Bush of course) could have stopped Hurricane Katrina in it’s tracks (ala Superman), can alter the price of gasoline, change individuals bad credit habits and “talk” terrorists into giving up the jihad.
Maybe you are really Jimmy Carter pretending to be a MM reader.

    Description of Straw Man
The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person’s actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of “reasoning” has the following pattern:

    Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
    Person B attacks position Y.
    Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.
This sort of “reasoning” is fallacious because attacking a distorted version of a position simply does not constitute an attack on the position itself. One might as well expect an attack on a poor drawing of a person to hurt the person.

    Grow-up slick.

As I said before–facts please, facts and no more of your “fallacies”. I’ve already demolished your vague statements regarding Bush being obstructionist with actual facts. It is quite funny to see how you seem to think that just because you make unsupported blanket statements that they must be true. Simply because you say something does not make it true. Hyperventilating will do you no good and your “position” is devoid of any factual information and therefore is quite easy to attack.
You might want to take your own advice mistress and grow-up child.
