Michael Pfleger returns June 16: “He’s a black Jesus stuck in a white man’s body”

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 9, 2008 04:24 AM

Well, it looks like the Catholic Church in Chicago has lost whatever balls it found when it temporarily suspended Pfoaming-at-the-mouth preacher of hate Michael Pfleger for his racially poisoned sermon a few weeks ago. Because he’s baaaack. Again. The Chicago Trib reports that Obama’s longtime friend and earmark recipient will return to St. Sabina on June 16 after being placed on leave to “reflect” on his politicking from the pulpit.

Question: Which Pfleger will come back and reassume his leadership position in the Catholic Church?

The Hillary-mimicking, Vanilla Ice-prancing, Jeremiah Wright-impersonating reverend who has attracted a cult of supporters over two decades?

Or some other Pfleger who was the man Obama knew before he became the man Obama says he didn’t know?

The choir was booming, the dancers were swirling and open seats were scarce in the sweltering pews, but longtime members of St. Sabina Catholic Church thought Sunday’s service was a bit flat in the absence of Rev. Michael Pfleger.

Cardinal Francis George had ordered the fiery activist priest to take two weeks off after Pfleger’s widely broadcast comments mocking Sen. Hillary Clinton and saying, in what he later called a slip of the tongue, that “America is the greatest sin against God.”

Some of his intensely devoted parishioners were worried that his sabbatical would prove permanent. So when a St. Sabina official announced during mass that Pfleger would return June 16, the church exploded in cheers.

“I was just overwhelmed,” Brandy Scott, 27, said later. “I had to cry.”

Hey, how would you like this raving lunatic to officiate your wedding? That would make me cry. Apparently, though, there are couples dying for him to perform their matrimonial services–and countless more followers who can’t wait for more histrionic white-bashing:

The announcement that Pfleger would come back in about a week eased the minds of many parishioners, some of whom were worried that, despite the cardinal’s comments, the priest had finally gone too far.

He was forced to miss a wedding Saturday that he was set to officiate, so another couple with a June 28 wedding date was especially relieved to learn that Pfleger would be back for their big day.

But most simply said they were looking forward to St. Sabina returning to normal under the leadership of the priest who has come to embody the church.

“He’s a black Jesus stuck in a white man’s body,” said Oralee Williams, 48. “He’s the best.”

Your Catholic Church at work.

And relay, as usual, you omit the context of those remarks concerning LEGAL immigrants. Go back and read it - its been posted here. The context is that the Pope’s words say that ALL are obliged to obey the laws, including the ones on immigration, which we, as a just nation, have every right to make and enforce.

That seems to keep slipping your narrow little prejudiced mind.

A black Jesus stuck in a white man’s body. This is a quote from one of the laity at Sabina’s. Last time I read the Bible, Jesus never even came close to the kind of hate-filled rhetoric of Pfleger or Wright. How the Catholic church can keep this type of individual onboard is beyond, beyond belief.

Jesus was never about keeping victims as victims, he was about saving souls. Those he who comforted were among the most downtrodden, yet they all were inspired by him. His message is one of the most positive and uplifting in the history of man.

And that is why conservatism is floundering about. These people are not “conservative”, they are the new barbarians at the gate, as Judge Bork described years ago: they are cultural illiterates whose prejudice, hatred and ignorance drives them to destroy all tradition and institutions of western civilization. Their blindness to history, their greed for power, and their ignorance of dogmatism (yes, dogma is a good thing in that it promotes rational thought) acts as a force for iconoclasm.

We would be well rid of them if conservatism is to thrive.

You trying to tell me that the Pope is talking about the vast millions of “legal” immigrants who a flooding our shores?

Then I’m personally attacked, because I have the unmitigated gaul to question your Pope, and your religion’s practice of harboring anti-American priests and nuns.

Radio how do we get this into your demented skull?

The pope said IMMIGRANTS. Nothing MORE, nothing LESS.

Below is the ENTIRETY of the context of the remarks given - in which he is CLEARLY referring to LEGAL immigrants past and present: Thats a clear reference to the Irish, Italians, etc, who came over to build the Nation and the Catholic Community here in the USA.

Many of the people to whom John Carroll and his fellow Bishops were ministering two centuries ago had travelled from distant lands. The diversity of their origins is reflected in the rich variety of ecclesial life in present-day America. Brother Bishops, I want to encourage you and your communities to continue to welcome the immigrants who join your ranks today, to share their joys and hopes, to support them in their sorrows and trials, and to help them flourish in their new home. This, indeed, is what your fellow countrymen have done for generations. From the beginning, they have opened their doors to the tired, the poor, the “huddled masses yearning to breathe free” (cf. Sonnet inscribed on the Statue of Liberty). These are the people whom America has made her own.

    NOT. ONE. WORD. ABOUT. ILLEGALS.

    Get it now you idiot?

And the Catechism of the Catholic Church is VERY clear about this as well:

2241: Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

And if you accuse him of supporting Islam then you are obvious stuck on stupid. Go read his Regensburg speech -which put the entire Islamic world in an uproar because he called them out on the abandonment of reason and the embrace of violence.

    http://zenit.org/article-16955?l=english

(”Abandonment of reason” of which you have apparently done as well, just like the Jihadis - not letting facts and reason interfere with your irrational bigotry and hatred, and fascist-liberal “repeat the lie” tactic)

Your continued mis-characterizations, slander and outright LYING about the Catholics and the Pope show you to be almost imbecilic on this matter, especially when you have had it explained to you so many times.

Like a typical lefty fascist, you continue to ignore the truth and repeat the lie.

Pfleger is suffering from a symptom that the Brits identified while building their empire centuries ago: going native. He should have been defrocked a long time ago and does a disservice to his fellow Catholics if he’s even a true Catholic at all.

To Corona: are you a true Catholic Church member? Because this man has been criticized for not adhering to the mandates of the Catholic Church and instead makes himself into a politicizing baffoon, you say those who criticize him as “know nothings.”

I would like to know why you can’t see this man for what he truly is. He’s a political activist and not a priest. He stopped being a priest when he started politicizing his role. And that goes for any head of a church, not just this guy.

My husband is a Catholic and has no use for this priest. Are you going to call him a “know nothing” too? How frequently do you attend the Church or are you a cafeteria Catholic like so many who pick and choose what to believe?

I am in no way bashing catholics, but let’s be honest here: this situation is indicative of the state of affairs in the Catholic Church. You can’t demand we place blame solely on Pfleger when Cardinal George refuses to act out of cowardice or complicity. And lest we forget Cardinal George has a boss too. He’s in Rome, where’s the big hat. He also demands we give up our rights to secure borders and other mind-boggling socialist platitudes. I’m truly sorry you don’t feel your parish is receiving a fair shake, but it’s the exception not the rule in America today. I’ve been in churches all over the country and even in heavily conservative areas the parish is still pressing socialism down the throats of its congregation. Are there still great conservative priests, nuns and lay people adhering to the true tenants of Catholicism? Absolutely. But is the Church, from the Pope down, actively turning it’s back on Church tenants and Christ’s teachings? Sadly, yes. Socialism and atheism go hand in hand. The fanatical secular Socialism of Europe has clearly invaded Mother church. And I’m not a KKK member, or a militant atheist. I’m a practicing Catholic who is disgusted and doesn’t see the church doing anything to repair the harm it continues to do.

Or perhaps admit that you aren’t a Catholic, but an ignorant troll instead? I’ve seen that type on gun boards… “Im a gun onwer but I dont mind restrictive laws”.

Your arguements are the same dated discredited and false ones used by the Know Nothings in the 1840’s and 1850’s. And against John F Kennedy and Catholics. Etc. Bigotry sprung from ignorance.

Try learning a bit of history next time.

Thats why they called the illiterate ignorant Catholic bashers of the 1800’s “Know Nothings” - because like you, they Know Nothing, and proclaimed all kinds of falsehoods against Catholics, the Catholic Church and the Pope.

Read what I posted several posts above. You are DEAD WRONG regadring your quote. As a Catholic don’t you even know the Catechism?

As I posted above the Catechism specifically allows immigration and border control. And this Pope follows the Catechism, as do all proper Catholics. Pfleger is far outside the bounds, and his Cardinal is derelict in his duties to allow him to remain at such a parish for so long.

Also you apparently do NOT know the Catholic Church at all, especially the structure, and that the Pope cannot quickly relieve an Archbishop or Cardinal - there are rules, laws and byloaws that must be met. It takes time.

The Catholic Church is NOT a dictatorship - it is a congregation of apostolic bishops, each in charge of their diocese. The Pope is the Bishop of Rome, and is deferred to, but does not RULE the others.

Now that I’ve cured a bit of your ignorance, perhaps you’d care to re-examine your wild accustations, mischaracterizations, libels and outright lies?

Sorry to disagree DHD, but everyone is to blame. Pfleger foremost of course, but you can’t rest blame solely on him. It’s the congregations fault for not recognizing the error and evils of his message and demanding change. It’s Cardinal George’s fault for not doing anything. It’s the Pope’s fault for not lifting a finger to do anything, even if it’s a delayed reaction. Everyone is to blame - top to bottom - because everyone is perfectly content to do nothing. Pfleger has been doing this for a very long time and no one in the church has done anything to oppose him. Evil prevails when good men fail to act.

The church is a point of light in a dark world and I don’t want it to be snuffed out from within. It’s courting dangerous suicidal policies. I can say that because I love my church, not hate it.

Radio45, if you are the slightest bit interested in a more balanced view of what the Catholic Church is actually about, I invite you to check out websites such as First Things, the American Chesterton Society, Our Saviour’s Church in New York (pastored by the excellent Fr. George Rutler), and such publishers as Ignatius Press. You will find that none of these could be called leftist or liberal by any sensible person.
