What is …is.
What!? You mean to tell me liberal Democrats don’t keep their word!?
*Fainting from surprise*
Izzle?
Senator Obama should have never made that stupid promise.
He absolutely has to break it. The cons are greatly outweighed by the pros (a financial advantage in the hundreds of millions of dollars).
I also understand that he claims to like White People and “regular food.”
This man has leadership written all over him, no?
He’s hired Bill Clinton as an “adviser” apparently.
He can dodge and change positions more often than Hillary, so his “experience” in running for president paid off!
Well, um, the truth, er, didn’t really work for him. It is strictly a discreet voluntary position and he has no plans to employ it during his administration.
Well sure – lying is what politicians do. Keep a pledge – how old fashioned. So is it ok if I don’t trust him and assume he’s going to break all his promises?
His true colors shining through, I wonder which special intrest is buy him with this money?
Change – I changed my mind….I changed my church, I changed my grandmother…
buy = buying. This head cold is killing me. I am thinking I will take tomorrow off.
Obama is carrying on not only the traditions of Jimmy Carter, but also those of Bill Clinton. ‘Depends on the meaning of “is”‘ followed up with a tortured analysis of whether some crook “worked for me” along with and a thoughtful rendition of the true meaning of “yes”. He must have tiny little feet to get both of them so far down his own throat.
As uncomfortable as it is hearing Bush speak publically, it is just as uncomfortable hearing Barack speak without a script.
“Hey, come on! I answered, like, eight questions already!”
khan, 8 whole questions? That is some kind of record.
Senator Obama: That wasn’t the same Obama I knew.

Senator Obama throws himself under the bus?
That is not the promise I used to know.
From Patterico:
To quote 30 Pieces from a few months back, “Ay yi yi!”
Just another liar in a suit.
Courage, leadership, integrity…??
I understand why pundits might scoff at Senator Obama for reneging on his pledge to take public financing, but consider the choice he has before him. He has a tremendous advantage over John McCain in the money race, why would he throw away that asset? This is one campaign promise I don’t think anyone would have a problem breaking (even Senator McCain, if the tables were turned).
LOL, that’s right Sonofdy. He threw himself under his own bus.
OOOH OOHHH things not related to obama. do I win number 20?
In that spirit:
To quote Howard Dean.
EEEEEIIIIIIOOOOOWWWRRRRRAAAAAA
I know this is overstating the obvious, but…he’s a politician. do you really expect the truth from this empty suit.
Public financing would not help Michelles kids whereas private financing will. Just ask Resko.
Where’s Norman Hsu when you need him?
Barack Obama, Cabana Boy.
Great Michelle Malkin thread going on at fark. Help defend our queen Michelle!

Fark-em
Ack. As an Obama supporter, I keep trying to find a way to reconcile i) my admiration for Obama and need to see him as a stand-up guy who will do the right thing even though it may not be politically expedient and ii) my overwhelming desire to see him win.
The best I can come up with is that in a sense his campaign is already publicly funded because he has really gone about financing it through small donations from a very large number of donors (whatever you think of Obama, this last part is indisputable).
But I know I am being intellectually dishonest and trying to find any way to justify this. He SHOULD agree to public financing. But I hope he doesn’t. And I hate that.
Chap,
At least you are being honest with yourself. Most people would care less. I think BHO knows this and it was easy to say yes at the time and “change” later as his base will forgive him of anything. I do not think there will be a dwonward turn in the polls over this news (which is good for BHO supporters like you).
Mike Baker of Fox has a pretty good slant:

31- Ditto
Ditto. This was an issue of inexperience on Obama’s part. I support him, but took him off my pedestal after the Wright fiasco. He’s my nominee, but he’s just another politician, same as Hillary and McCain on flipflops and false promises. He’s just another slick politician, and this election like all elections comes down to the lesser evil
Now come on… This is really a surprise?
I think, more importantly, how is all this gonna help Michelle Obama’s kids?
BHO couldn’t tell the truth if he had a mouth full of it.
This guy reminds me of someone who is stuck in a giant whirlpool. He keeps going around and around, getting lower by the minute. I suspect he will soon disappear into whatever is there at the bottom. This guy can’t even keep his thoughts straight…much less talk without a teleprompter.
As stated in a previous post -
His name is Uhbama.
Suits him well.
Obama broke his promise and is, in this instance, a liar. Still, he has far to go to descend to McCain’s level, let alone the inner ring where Bush is to be found (channeling the Inferno).
#30 on my soapbox said; Farkem. I say Farkem and fergiddem.
Rusty, if you see no problem with being a liar, then you are a liar yourself. I don’t distrust Obama because he is a politician. I distrust him because he is a democrat. I distrust him because he is a liar, progressive, idiot (57 states (even if you’re tired you can’t be so stupid as to say that)), and the fact that you support him.
lgm, if he is a liar in this instance, then he is a liar always. Poor judgement always, pathetic friends, satan for a priest and a loud mouth wife. You’re backing a real winner there dude.
#40 Ditto x 1000.
Have to agree with Ron Rockstar on his very poor judgment in friends, spiritual advisors, and the ability to manage his campaign’s finances how can we expect him to suddenly obtain good judgment skills should he become POTUS?
LGM, are we supposed to be impressed by your Dante refernce? I read that when I was a freshman in high school which was a long time ago (it will be 30 years this fall to be exact). I imagine then that you’ll be seeing W there if that’s where you believe he will be. I think a road trip is in order to your classroom where I can put a sign above your door that says “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here”. That about sums it up, you have hope in an empty suit, that’s not hope, it’s stupidity.
mistress and chap – pretty much agree. I probably am less concerned about candidates raising money – if 300 million people gave him $10 each, more power to him. But he agreed to go with public financing, and if he had, I’d be stunned, but would give him props for not being just another politician. But the turnabout shows that his talk of change is meaningless. Just another politician…
Unloike you mistress, I never had to talk him off a pedestal. I’m probably older and more cynical than you are…

You are correct, but your answer should be in the form of a question. Heh.
I know what you mean. I grow more cynical every year. It’s kinda disappointing, and I’m a masochist for being so interested in politics. Oh well, have a good one.
“Unloike you mistress, I never had to talk him off a pedestal.” = Unlike…take…(garble, garble..)
A really aggravating thing is that he will get away with this and many other things just like it because he won’t let anyone close enough to him who has the stones to call him on it. Which means neither does he.
We expect politicians to lie but this guy is a real piece o’work. The audacity of standing right in front of you, lying to your face, and knowing that you, you dummy, are to star struck and/or immoral to do anything about it. The arrogance of this one’s audacity.
Now Mrs. O has to stay away from the microphone and avoid questions, or follow along and lapse into moral degradation to uphold and not give away his lies and deceptions.
Yes, I love my wife and family and I would never put them on the spot. Of course, that depends on your definition of “Yes”, “I”, “love”, “my”, “wife” and “family.”
It’s the Audacity of the Dope.
True.
McCain = war hero
Obama = war zero
lgm = idiot

God d*mn lawyers.
Obama promised to bring us change, so why be surprised when you discover he has changed his mind. A reliable “agent of change” is an oxymoron. You can’t have both, just like you can’t be both liberal and conservative. You can claim to be both but you will be one or the other.
A conservative is safe, dependable, reliable, and predictable (or in other words, boring.)
A liberal is uncertain, unreliable, unconventional, and unpredictable (or in other words, exciting.)
Women who marry the steady, predictable type often find themselves bored to tears and wishing their man would step out of character and surprise them once in a while. Women who hook up with the unpredictable “bad boy” eventually begin to envy women with dependable husbands and wish for a more conventional lifestyle. But you can’t have both. There’s just no such thing as a “predictable surprise”, and there can be no excitement without a risk of danger.
The young and discontented will almost always choose an exciting liar over a dependable bore, even when they have a clear choice between them. As for me, I’ve had enough excitement and surprises in my life that I’ve come to appreciate a safe and boring politician. But I’m beginning to believe I’m in the minority. Obama roller coaster here we come…
