The video– “uh, um, I mean”–speaks for itself, but go here for all the background:

Why do you keep bringing up these, um, uh, tangential issues? How does this help Michelle Obama’s kids? Why are you against hope and change?
Heh The buck stops when the chickens come home to roost ?
I have never understood why anyone has ever thought he was a good speaker. I find nothing redeeming in his ‘rhetoric’ at all.
He’s a joke and his “followers” idiots.
I saw this on TV this morning, and all I could think was “Good God! If he doesn’t have cue cards, he’s a mumbling idiot!!” This man has no clue how to field questions that require him to actually think.
But as aunursa already said, this doesn’t help MO’s children — so we’ll never see this mentioned anywhere in the MSM. (Unless it’s to throw it back as a “distraction.”)
Soap’s translation:
“I sure hope you folks will buy into my BS as I can sure fling plenty of it.”
Barack Obama “I HOPE I can CHANGE the subject and you can BELIEVE in that !”
He thinks, like the NoI guys, if he uses words like ‘tangentially’ he can assume an academic air.
He really is a poor speaker when it’s not rehearsed and cued… it’s almost painful to watch.
Obama is all flash, no substance.
“These are not the Vetters I knew when I first met them 10 months ago.”
Or, rather:
“These, ahhhhh… are not, uhmmm… the, ummm, veterans – I mean VETTERS – I, uh, know – errr KNEW – when I first, uh, met them 10 years – MONTHS – uhhmmm… ago.”
I say again: it’s hard to believe that we will look back at Dubya and see not only “effective leadership” but “intelligence.”
It takes some doing to pick candidates this ignorant AND un-intelligent, but the USA appears up to the task…
Screw the vetting of the vetterers, I just want someone to vet this commie-pinko, American hating, marxist, tax and spend, amnesty shilling, bloviating, mouth breeder. Lemme see your birth certificate, you illegal alien, before you become POTUS.
Other than that, I have no strong feelings.
Just like everyone says except for the Obamabot zombies he is an empty suit period..
Ironically, Obama would show more leadership if he acknowledged that it was a valid point.
The left rants on and on about Bush supposedly not being able to admit a mistake. But I have yet to hear the presumptive Democratic nominee acknowledge a mistake. And so far he’s made several.
When I make a mistake — especially in my job — I take responsibility for it. Why can’t politicians? Who is the Harry Truman of today?
Typical politician.
Obama constantly misspeaks…
Does anyone else find it particularly perturbing that the potential, future President of the United States – a man who will be negotiating & bargaining with world leaders on behalf of America – is so incredibly inarticulate? Will every important meeting that affects the future of America be extended to the following day so Obama can ‘correct’ himself and tell antagonistic leaders what he really meant?
It’s scary to know we may face hardships in America because Obama is an incompetent impromptu speaker.
And the left has the audacity to mock Bush for mispronouncing words…
Wow. What gibberish, out of his mouth.
It just occurs to me, that if he is elected POTUS, the most powerful person in the world will be some unelected dialogue coach. Or Michelle O.
I was thinking exactly the same thing, soap box, as i listened to the clip! “These are people that don’t work for me”. Who in #$%& do they work for?!! What a uhm, uhm speaker!
Hard to throw someone under the bus when the wheels might be coming off it.
Wait, if they have assignments how is it that they don’t work for him? Because they don’t get a pay check? After all of the money that Jim Johnson purloined from the national treasury I don’t think he really needs to get paid.
This guy is a bumbling idiot, it makes McCain’s idea of town hall meetings look smarter everyday.
OK … from this I take it that BO went off on a tangent and said that, relating to the people on his VP committee, they are only slightly connected with his campaign and that their tasks are only superficially relevant as they move along in a divergent manner while merely touching on anything of importance …
huh??? …
Comrade Obama proves, the Democrats chose poorly.
The man is a mental midget!
I feel dumber for having watched that. The man is a moron. Where’s the MSM. Bush is a great speaker compared to Barack “ah… er… um… I mean… they work for me, but they don’t work for me” Obama
I mean every week we have this guy talking out his butt. A new you tube clip almost every day. At this rate the google servers are going to need a lot more gigs of storage for you tube.
I can see google’s next quarterly report. Earning down 20% because we have buy more servers every time Obama opens his mouth.
How dare you blaspheme the Secular Messiah!
On the bright side, most of the comments over at the background article aren’t really favorable for Obama (they’re not wild about McCain, either, mind you)…
The more he talks, the more likely it is he’ll snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I was going to post on this, but I’ll just second Rogue’s post.
OT
No secret, big RV looking command vehicle, SUVs, cops with ‘Federal Protective Service’ arm patches, some in black with heavy vests.
Federal Protective Service/ICE police
If they are here to bust all the illegals in the food court, I’ll have to start brown bagging my lunch again. Or maybe Bill Clinton is getting a quickie over at the Westin.
Rush and Hannity were playing clips yesterday. I swear it sounded as if he was using an earpiece and was having trouble with reception.
Babbling, bumbling…he’s like a bad SNL character. I have never seen his appeal.

Atheling you beat me to it. That was just downright painful to watch. I almost didn’t make it throught the 1:21
“It’s the economy, stupid . . . ” Oops! we better change the subject. Let’s talk about the mortgage of an Obama volunteer.
Regardless of whatever else he is, has, has been or does, he does have the advanced degree necessary to become a successful politician, a PHD:
BS – bullslinger
MS – Master Slinger
PHD – Piles it Higher and Deeper
Yep. All hat and no cattle.
You mean he should start lying about the economy the way your hero Bubba the Liar did?
You may be onto something here, lgm, in a tangential kind of way. I hope those guys on BHOs VP search party aren’t getting paid if the best they can come up with are Caroline Kennedy and James Webb.
Where is Ted Kennedy we need some errahs
And liberals make fun of the President? Pot, meet kettle. Oh, wait, is that racist? Sorry, I can’t keep track anymore.
Actually lgm, why not talk about how Mr. Johnson’s role at Freddie Mac? When you take on the kind of role that Mr. Johnson has taken on you are more than a mere volunteer, you are a trusted advisor. I am wondering how many times did you invoke Ken Lay’s name when you ranted to your friends about President Bush? Lay’s deception was chicken feed compared to Johnson’s.
A converstion between Barrack Obama and Ted Kennedy.
Barrack: Oh, ummm, mmmm, uh, mmm.
Ted Kennedy: Errah, ah Errrah,a oh.
Hey, I wonder if he took Teds class on public speaking 101.
Borrowing from JS… lgm you are all hat and no cattle. And nyk is all cattle and no hat.
And lo, thou Obamessiah read from ye local phonebook (E thru H)… and it was good, nay, amazing.
(the Restraining Order says I can still go to His events and chant, I just have to stay 500yards away.)
C’mon lgm
The shame of this clip is that the MSM won’t ever see it, nevermind have to deal with it. It was aired on Fox News. That instantly means it was mean-spirited, character assassination by a bunch of GOP fan boys. Thus the followers of the Holy Obama won’t ever have to face the fact that he is actually inarticulate. If anything this makes him human, but that is obviously an unpopular suggestion of a heretical nature. /sarcasm

Well, Bucklee, OBambi has now explained. He says that such criticism is “just another of the games played in Washington.” Move on, folks, nothing to see here. Hope, hope, change, change.
Now if he had spelled potato with an “e” or nuclear with another “u”, we’d have something to talk about!!
Bacially Im so fed up with the political system I have decieded to strike out on my own
Obama reminds me more and more of an episode from Gilligan’s Island (dating myself, I know, I know) in which Gilligan dreams he’s the ruler of some banana republic who depends on his chief adviser for everything; at one point he’s giving a speech to a crowd and is spluttering:
[Gilligan] “My people, I promise you uh, um….”
[Adviser] (Whispering into Gilligan’s ear): “This, that, and the other thing.”
[Gilligan] (Forcefully): “This, that, and the other thing!”
Watching the Potemkin Candidate fumble, bumble and stumble in the debates is going to be delightful. Hey, donkeys: Buyers’ remorse, here we come!
I agree with all of this except breeder=breather. Unless.. I’m missing something…..
It wouldn’t be the first time I’m behind the curve.
give Barry a break.. I mean it looks like he was forced to work without a teleprompter.. This is the kind of change he wants to bring.. a teleprompter for him and scripted news conferences..
I’m definitely not an Obama supporter, but here was nothing wrong with his answer or performance in the clip shown. Please get a grip. His policies are bad enough without wildly grasping at straws to denigrate him.
It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is
It depends on what meaning of “work” works.
Obama is such a BS artist!
Don’t like the subject matter?
DLTDHYITAOTWO
Feel free never to return – please.
To J S Ragman and atheling:
Obama is All halo and no Jesus.
I’m sorry, but did the Barry say the “volunteers” were only gathering information for him, that he’d then excercise his own judgement in selecting a VP candidate? And with a straight face, no less.
lgm said:
We won’t know how the economy is doing till the second week in July when a bulk of second quarter reports come in.
If the reports come back as negative growth then we won’t know if we’re in a true recession till the second week in October and that’s contingent upon a second quarter of negative growth. The Dems have a long way to go to truly play that card. Hate to burst your bubble (pun intended).
…unpaid volunteer positions…giving him information; vetted information…
You can bet that Jim Johnson is doing ALL the work himself, investigating the potential running mates, right? Just like some volunteer vetted Jerry Wright, and Father Wanna-be Black?
My take? You get what you pay for…or in this case, caveat emptor!
He sounds like Gabby Johnson in Blazing Saddles.
Trying taking a shower. You have bitter liberal all over you.
They have been playing that card for a while now and the MSM has helped them sell it. hook line and sinker.
Is this the way he’ll sound when talking to the wacky dictators of the world?
chris3cube reminds me…
“Consult the Book of Speeches!”
“Speeches, chapter 4, verses 2-4…and St.Obama raised the script on high saying ‘O lord (of the flies), bless this mishmash of words so that, with it, thou mayest confound the masses, in thy mercy…and the dark lord did grin, and the people did feast upon every utterance of the Obamessiah…”
Uh uh umm uh uh ……..six degrees of BS.
Isn’t it obvious to everyone why the MSM is wetting their panties over his fabulous speaking abilities?
Now where is that teleprompter* when he needs it?
*Michelle Obama….where are you?
plenty of other threads about the economy.. stop being a nuance..
President Bush got us out of the last recession, so maybe a “third Bush term” wouldn’t be so bad.
I have never understood how some people see Obama as charismatic and a brilliant orator. Without, and even with, his cue cards, he is stammering idiot… with apologies to idiots.
I know this isn’t conventional wisdom, but according to the statistics, we aren’t in a recession, although John Mauldin among others has questioned the accuracy of the data. The last quarter’s growth rate was officially about 0.6%. The definition of a recession is 2 consecutive quarters of negative growth.
Well heck—he could always try the tired old “This isn’t the man I knew”
If Obama doesn’t want this issue discussed than his campaign should never have brought it up in the first place!
lgm, I think you are getting lazier and lazier. Think before you post!
“That’s not the Jim Johnson I knew!”
I thought they actually changed that figure to .9%.

Not really, more like “it’s the oil speculators.”
B.HO’s supporters on this site have been awfully
activedefensive today – which says a lot about the level confidence they have in their candidate and his chances against McCain in the fall.Aunursa had it right. This discussion does nothing to help Michelle Obama’s kids.
It is amazing to me that Obama has tapped three people since he “won” the nomination, and two out of three of them have been revealed as dirty. The third, Caroline Kennedy, might be dirty, but she is absolutely untouchable.
Concerned Citizen said (#66):
This isn’t likely to be a winning campaign position. The “recovery” under Bush was the weakest recovery postwar. During this supposed recovery, median income, adjusted for inflation, actually went down. More than half of Americans earned less money (adjusted) after the recovery than before.
Bush policies are the major reason for our current problems: huge budget deficits drive the dollar down and oil costs up (not all the oil price increase is because of the falling dollar, but a healthy part is). The war in Iraq and threats against Iran create uncertainties that drive up the price of oil. Our refusal to develop alternative energy sources or improve energy efficiency forces us to consume more oil, which drives up the price (drilling in Alaska would make little difference because there isn’t that much oil there).
Then there’s the asleep at the wheel regulators who turned a blind eye to predatory subprime lending practices that created a mountain of bad debt.
What did he say again? I found myself gasping for air and writhing in agony after about 3 seconds. This is like sitting through “History of the development of paper products (Lesson 5: Bounty, the quicker-picker-upper”)classes in the late spring with the sun beating through the window at 1 o’clock in the afternoon after eating a large lunzzzzzzzzzzzzzzch. I clicked play, and I can’t recall a thing after that.
He is merely an example of the democratic affirmative action in education, politics and social engineering. The sheeple who follow are the products of our empty education system and MSM brainwashing over the last 30 years.
No wonder Europe loves him. Think of the way they have made fun of Bush. This is just on ongoing comedy for them.
Personally, I can’t wait for the one on one ‘town hall’ meetings. When B.Hussein tried to debate the Shill, he was roasted.
Without a teleprompter, this guy comes across dumber than a mud fence.
BO reminds me of FROZONE on THE INCREDIBLES movie a few years back.
remember that scene – “where is my super-suit”? I said WHERE IS MY SUPER-SUIT”?
Only BO says “where is my cue cards? Woman – where is my cue cards?
Now I can sleep – it’s been driving me Krazy because I knew I’ve seen him somewhere before.
I heard a lot of words there, but did he say anything? This guy sounds like a student of Prof. Irwin Corey.
Worst case of “Foot in Mouth” I’ve ever seen…plus he’s coming down with a bad case of “Deer in the headlights” in his eyes.
Sounds like a seven year old trying to explain the busted cookie jar on the kitchen floor, and the crumbs on his shirt.
Simple. It is about integrity, Barry. You might not be familiar with that word.
lgm, you obviously don’t understand macro-economic concepts, and you understand even less about energy.
Macro-economic theory (John Maynard Keynes) was finally put to its death around 1995 in Graduate Economics class. Simple. Can a society exist without money? Obviously, yes!
You admit it was a recovery. And as for it being weak that is an apples and oranges comparison.
Our contemporary economy has faced stressors and impediments like no other in our nation’s history, i.e., two simultaneous wars played out thousands of miles from our shores, back to back bubble bursts, an economic super-union in Europe, increased competition for energy, out of control spending on both sides of the isle (although the Democrats set the precedent for that),etc.
And yet, despite all the spurious claims you laid out in your post, President Bush has kept our economy from falling through the floor and unemployment at only five and one-half percent. Although I’m sure you know but won’t admit this, unemployment rates in Europe and Asia are exponentially higher than ours.
The squeeze on the middle class is a downward trend that started long before President Bush came into office and will continue until the national debt is paid down, allowing the dollar to rebound, and the war on terror is won and not before. And while it may be true that the war negatively impacts oil and consumer prices, it is a necessary expense we all must bare to live.
As for tax cuts and the middle class: Democrat efforts to elevate the lower classes out of poverty with increased deficit spending have done more to harm the middle class than President Bush’s tax cuts. In fact, letting the tax cuts lapse will increase unemployment and make matters far worse for the middle class.
In the wake of 9/11, with our nation in shambles, President Bush’s tax cuts and stimulus plan kept a mortally wounded US economy breathing and able to recover.
OUR REFUSAL?! What about the Democrats’ decision to disallow any new drilling or to develop our vast coal reserves? According to Pat Buchanan, the arguments Democrats use now against drilling in ANWR are the same unfounded, silly ones they used against Nixon and the Alaskan Pipeline. And we know what a joke those arguments turned out to be in retrospect!
Regulation is not the problem. Greedy investors and willfully naive consumers with eyes bigger than their wallets, are/were the problem in the sub prime mess. The question now is how to fix it – without sinking the nation further into like BHO wants with his unbridled spending proposals.
College???
This guy went to COLLEGE???
Oh, he went to LAW SCHOOL??
You mean he went to HARVARD LAW SCHOOL??
And GRADUATED???
I don’t believe it.
Oh, that’s right – he was a street organizer, not a Wall Street lawyer. I wonder what corporation missed out on this sharp tack?
“Troglodyte”, “empty suit”, “poser” and “charlatan” come to mind.
