College???

This guy went to COLLEGE???

Oh, he went to LAW SCHOOL??

You mean he went to HARVARD LAW SCHOOL??

And GRADUATED???

I don't believe it.

Oh, that's right - he was a street organizer, not a Wall Street lawyer. I wonder what corporation missed out on this sharp tack?

"Troglodyte", "empty suit", "poser" and "charlatan" come to mind.

The “recovery” under Bush was the weakest recovery postwar.

You admit it was a recovery. And as for it being weak that is an apples and oranges comparison.

Our contemporary economy has faced stressors and impediments like no other in our nation's history, i.e., two simultaneous wars played out thousands of miles from our shores, back to back bubble bursts, an economic super-union in Europe, increased competition for energy, out of control spending on both sides of the isle (although the Democrats set the precedent for that),etc.

And yet, despite all the spurious claims you laid out in your post, President Bush has kept our economy from falling through the floor and unemployment at only five and one-half percent. Although I'm sure you know but won't admit this, unemployment rates in Europe and Asia are exponentially higher than ours.

More than half of Americans earned less money (adjusted) after the recovery than before.

The squeeze on the middle class is a downward trend that started long before President Bush came into office and will continue until the national debt is paid down, allowing the dollar to rebound, and the war on terror is won and not before. And while it may be true that the war negatively impacts oil and consumer prices, it is a necessary expense we all must bare to live.

As for tax cuts and the middle class: Democrat efforts to elevate the lower classes out of poverty with increased deficit spending have done more to harm the middle class than President Bush's tax cuts. In fact, letting the tax cuts lapse will increase unemployment and make matters far worse for the middle class.

Bush policies are the major reason for our current problems: huge budget deficits drive the dollar down and oil costs up (not all the oil price increase is because of the falling dollar, but a healthy part is).

In the wake of 9/11, with our nation in shambles, President Bush's tax cuts and stimulus plan kept a mortally wounded US economy breathing and able to recover.

"Our refusal to develop alternative energy sources or improve energy efficiency forces us to consume more oil, which drives up the price... ."

OUR REFUSAL?! What about the Democrats' decision to disallow any new drilling or to develop our vast coal reserves? According to Pat Buchanan, the arguments Democrats use now against drilling in ANWR are the same unfounded, silly ones they used against Nixon and the Alaskan Pipeline. And we know what a joke those arguments turned out to be in retrospect!

Then there’s the asleep at the wheel regulators who turned a blind eye to predatory subprime lending practices that created a mountain of bad debt.

Regulation is not the problem. Greedy investors and willfully naive consumers with eyes bigger than their wallets, are/were the problem in the sub prime mess. The question now is how to fix it - without sinking the nation further into like BHO wants with his unbridled spending proposals.

Macro-economic theory (John Maynard Keynes) was finally put to its death around 1995 in Graduate Economics class. Simple. Can a society exist without money? Obviously, yes!
