In other words, he pretty much wanted to ban gun stores. Five miles from a school is pretty much exiling gun stores to the rural hinterlands, outside of most city limits. (I wonder what Obama’s pretend gun-rights group will have to say about this?)

So schoolchildren won’t be burdened with the sight of gun shops within five miles of schools, but they will have easy access to the media that produces the inspiration to misuse weapons (and cars, and women, and animals etc.), i.e. movies and cable?

Once again, liberals create a problem, then take our money and restrict our freedoms and rights to put a “BandAid” on it, creating new tax systems and bureaucracies to keep us from hurting ourselves (and accumulating more power and wealth for themselves, of course).

Let’s go with original intent. The framers of the constitution intended the people to keep muzzle loaded rifles and muskets. They did not intend the people to keep semi-automatics.

I refer you to one Prof. Lawrence Tribe of Harvard University who notes, “The people’s ‘right’ to be armed cannot be trumped by the [Second] Amendment’s preamble.” Nor can the government pronounce the militia dead and then decree that the right to bear arms is archaic.

A Google search will help you get up to speed. Similarly, a search of the rapid increase of violent crime in countries that banned gun ownership, subesequent to that ban, shows that your beliefs are counterintuitive and counterproductive.

When you come right down to it, liberals simply do not trust the people to be honest, do the right thing or be proficient in the use of weapons.

If only they taught more about the founding of our nation and the men and women involved, rather than the inane and poisonous pablum that passes for public education today.

We have many hurdles to leap before we can even approach the original intent of our founding fathers. With the left controlling academia and the media, it is a Herculean task.

But thanks for the history atheling, it brings a warm smile to my face to know at least our founders got it right about keeping the populace armed when they laid out our Constitution. Now if we can just keep the liberals from screwing it up maybe we can remain the super-power of the world and remain the most free nation on the planet.

Well regulated.. well, none of my guns are rusted shut.. they work fine, so they are well regulated..

as for the militia.. I registered for selective service when I was 18, to be eligible for the service.. far as I’m concerned.. I’m part of the militia of citizens who might need to take up his arms..
