Want something bigger? Ok, go to a port, and watch a cruise ship or a freighter as they leave port…see how long you can keep them in view. They sure must be accelerating like rocket boats, cuz they fall out of view, over the edge of the earth pretty quickly.

I’ll spot you on your first comment, since I can’t locate data to support my claim.

As to the second, you seem to forget that larger cars are inherently safer for the people riding in them. It’s a matter of physics. Making all cars smaller doesn’t change that.

Secondly, there’s a lot of business done in this country using pickup trucks. Just look at the logos on their sides when you’re out on the highway in your Yugo.

So, if YOU think the government should decide, in balance, that it’s more important to “save” oil than to save lives, or for citizens to have the means to earn a living, you’re free to make that case.

But it’s not a slam-dunk. In any event “reducing our dependence on foreign oil” can be dealt with directly, by drilling for our own ample supplies, right here in the US and off our shores.

If you can articulate reasons why we shouldn’t do so, please do. Most liberals won’t get specfic as to their reasons, except to cite environmental horribles that haven’t happened in countries where drilling takes place (including our own).

You mean the yokel that delivers your food to your store? or the yokel who has no public transportation so has to just soak up the extra cost of getting to work? That includes most of the population of the usa. Or do you mean the “yokel” cops who have to cut down on patrols due to gas prices. Exactly which yokel are you talking about because unless you buy nothing from any store, generate your own electricity, have your own water well and walk everywhere, that yokel is YOU.
