Just when you think George W. has outdone himself. I am a Bush supporter on Iraq but, dang, he does some dumb things.
OH GOD, NO!
Why are we placating them?
Gads, what in the world in happening with our elected? Is there something in the food or water in DC that makes every human there an idiot who eats or drinks?
L
What you talken bout Willis?
Isn’t she the mother of all trolls? Like you LoneWolf, I support Bush but this one makes me think he’s hit the bottle again.
#3 s/b ‘that makes almost every human there’. We do have some that have there food and water shipped in.
L
There you go! Bush has lost his mind. There are still two border patrol agents in the clink there President Bush. How about giving then their actual freedom?
Well, I see the Left is taking over. Anyone with decent morals and values is to be avoided. I’m sure she was cheered for her PC. Government run amok, and everyone is clapping.
She likes football, so she can’t…no. All bad.
Strangely, this is the only thing I remember Shalala for, 2 days after the Lewinsky story broke, and Clinton met with his cabinet, and they walked out to reporters:
MADELEINE ALBRIGHT, Secretary of State ‘97-’01: I believe the allegations are completely untrue.
BILL DALEY, Secretary of Transportation: I’ll second that. Definitely.
DONNA SHALALA, Sec’y of Health & Human Services ‘93-’01: I’ll second that, too.
U of M doesn’t play football. They mug opponents – if they were let out for good behavior.
Go Gators!
President Bush cannot leave office soon enough :/
And in addition to her political shortcomings, she’s never done anything particularly distinguished. University president? There are thousands of them, and thousands upon thousands of distinguished professors who have actually made positive contributions to knowledge. She’s done none of these things, a politically correct education bureaucrat.
I wonder where the Bush library will be built…
Everything George Bush does is dumb..this is just another example.
yeah Tax cuts were really dumb, Scooter.
WOw. THe NEy YOrk TImes REally SPends A LOt OF TIme PRoofreading THeir STories, DOn’t THey?
This demostrates further that bush is really a liberal. It should show everyone what’s going to happen to this country if the liberal politics continue; if it’s done by a democrat or republican. And as far as I can see the liberal politics will continue no matter who gets into office.
No, this is good! Maybe now all the liberals will like us and stop saying those hateful words that make Laura Bush cry at night!
For the love of all that is good, has everyone checked their balls at the gates of DC.
I am sorrowfully surprised and disappointed to hear this, but I guess the President has his reasons…I just wish I could understand what they are and why.
Bush, the King of Spenders, the Coyote-in-Chief, is as liberal as any walked the earth. His signature fiasco, the Iraq war, could be regarded as the first politically correct war, as it was based on the PC wishful thinking that Iraqis are “just like us” and would take to democracy like ducks take to water. In truth, universal God-given human rights are Islam, corruption, and terrorism–in that part of the world.
#16…yea they were dumb, and now we are practically owned by the Chinese. I hope you learn to speak Mandarin John Ansell
“Politics of the absurd”
Oy vey.
(No offense to the late Tom Lantos, who also got a Medal of Freedom.)
Medal of Freedom!!!!! That’s it…. I’m sending my ribbons , medals and warrants back…… This country is going to hell fast.( Let me rant, I’ll feel better in a moment.)
Shi Shi, Scooter. My wife is from Taiwan so I can handle it.
I’m not sure the chinese will look any more favorably at someone speaking mandarin with a taiwanese accent.
New tone compassionate conservatism.
Yeah. That’s the resume bullet I look for in a Medal of Freedom(!?!) recipient.
#25, wo shi ni de ba ba
Hmm.
Now isn’t that funny when the snake of unintended consequences slithers up one of their legs and bites them in the arse?
LOL.
ummmm…I’m thinking it’ll be a small rack in the back of a classroom at Crawford Elementary School. So much promise and all of it wasted. And Bush and McShamnesty and the rest of the GOP wonder why the grassroots are angry all the time.
The reason I finally voted for Bush in 2000 despite the my suspicions about his his true self (”compassionate conservative”=clandestine liberal) was that the congress in 2000 and 2004 was decidely conservative) at that point it was prudent to vote for the leasser of two liberals only because the grassroots had an effective and immediate check on George W. Bush’s liberal tendencies-the congress.
In short then we had teeth to bear, if necessary, aginst crap like this. Even with this teeth, Bush still like try to wander away from us: arming pilots after 9/11, Illegal Immigration, re-enactment of the assault weapon ban etc. Still it was better than with Al Gore, who had proven himself a complete turncoat on conservatism.
This year we have a candidate who is even more liberal than GW Bush-almost the equal of Obama- McCain, and we have no teeth to bear against him other than grass roots pressure- a force he has decidely mocked and ignored already-unlike GW Bush.
and yet there are those with whom I respectfully disagree with who advocate we should vote for him anyway.
So be it.
At least the reader will better understand my rationale of why I have come to believe what I believe.
John & Scooter,
Ping ding ling bong!!
Sorry. I was feeling a little left out…
Some of you folk need to invest in a pinyin dictionary. But really, I don’t think we need to worry about Mandarin. Arabic probably, but not Mandarin.
McCain is a lot of things. “almost the equal (as liberal) of Obama” … is not one of them.
ching chong odonnell with subtitles
(Holy crap I miss the videos)
This little troll is all that is wrong in our Universities, but don’t expect Bush to recognize this. He also doesn’t understand the illegal alien problem. There is a growing list of things Bush has done that have undermined the rule of law and our rights. Rewarding an ultra-liberal who is famous for tyrannical speech codes and diversity education and quotas sends a signal. As donut44 pointed out, the signal is–our Republican leadership is feckless and nutless.
As I said earlier today President Cheney looks pretty good right now. Someone in the Whitehouse should tell him you can’t buy friends across the isle.
So what gives? Is this the result of some backroom deal with Harry and Nancy?
She gets a medal and the two border patrol agents can’t get a pardon. Pathetic.
I am sorry I defended Bush all those years. It wasn’t worth the grief.
Summary – Despicable traitor – medal
Heroes – jail
Donut44 (named after the 44 magnum, the most powerful donut in the world?) was correct in every sense. Gutless wonders in the beltway.
Don’t tell me, let me guess, old Chavez sent Bush some cocoa paste.
That and perhaps a fifth of Jack Daniels
Affirmative action puts it’s grubby paw on the Medal of Freedom. Even though the recipient is so unabashedly anti freedom that the Supreme Court struck her policies down.
I’m getting to the point that I feel I have more information than I want or need because my reading about the death of my nation as it happens has turned out to be very depressing for me.
Its us or them, and it will always be that way, is it true that ignorance is bliss. I think it might be.
OK, back to reality.
Ignorance should be a crime.
winemkr, out.
Soooo, he’s giving the highest civilian honor to a woman who, as HHS Secretary, tried to justify late-term abortions on the grounds of the mother’s health, when the mother has hemophilia …………………… ri-i-i-ght, ’cause women are SO prone to hemophilia ……………… {CliffNotes version – girls/women develop hemophilia so rarely they aren’t even included in statistical models}

Another ‘award’ that has become useless and denigrated – more to come under Obama.
When Brian Lamb got it last year, I thought, “right on”. But Donna Shalala? Shalala hasn’t done 1% of what Lamb has.
The medal of freedom is, “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”
Umm…Donna Shalala?
I’m not surprised though. Bush has always tried appeasing the leftists rather than standing up for conservative principles. Despite his many outstanding qualities as President, Bush doesn’t have guts. That’s the true betrayal – we hired a cowboy and got a coward.
yes he can
JUST REACHING ACROSS THE ABYSS…..
LOTE —– anyone!!!!!
Maybe ol Dennis Kuscinich has a point? Besides the one on his head…
impeach the guy and let Cheney run the country for a while.
We might then settle up with Iran,
continue to win in Iraq and maybe, just maybe start drilling for some damn oil!
You have a hotkey programmed with that post? Just askin’
Ni Hao, John.
I was under the impression that Taiwan used Cantonese… extra tonal(maybe 2, its been years…), sound-shift and all that…
BTW, I thought it was xie xie…

Peh. I guess she swallows.
It’s easy to figure out how Bush thinks: He gets up in the morning and the first thing he does is wonder — how can I make democrats love me? Because if I do something nice of them, they are certain to do something nice for me. Yeah. How about giving one of their hacks a totally undeserved medal or some ridiculous praise? It has never worked, but maybe just this once. Hmmmm. What would my moral ideal Jimmy Carter do?
The man will never get it. All he can do now is get out.
You know something there are no coincidences. I paid a visit to my alma mater today for a conference and was able to get a real good look at George Low’s Medal of Freedom:
Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient Dr. George M. Low
DR. GEORGE M. LOW
Awarded by
President Ronald Reagan
May 23, 1985
During his distinguished public service at NASA, Dr. George M. Low helped lead this nation’s space program to its greatest achievements, directing the first manned landing on the moon and planning the shuttle program. As President of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he continued to make his mark on the future, improving academic excellence and launching a program to spur technological innovation. Our Nation will be reaping the benefits of his wisdom and vision for years to come.
We’ve gone from this to awarding absolute miscreants and racists.
Maybe Kucinich has the right idea on impeachment after all.
Naw. Kucinich just likes to “play” with ropes. It’s all a “game” to him.
Invasion of the Body Snatchersstarring Jorge Bush as the leader of the POD people….watch your step or you could become anti-American too!
No surprise here…The Medal of Freedom carries about as much prestige as the Nobel Peace Prize now days.
And the Republican Party wonders why we’re off the tracks, grouchy and grumpy…can’t imagine myself.
Yep, Pres. Bush and I will have to agree to disagree on this one. What the heck did Shalala ever do for this country? Her and McCain/Feingold need to get together and praise each other about what a wonderful achievement they’ve made restricting speech for American citizens.
I say rewarding any freaking Clinton phoney is playing to the dumb peeps out there. Remember when Shalala and Dole got together to look into veterans’ healthcare. That was a thrill ride right there.
Ugghhh… for a president who has thought of himself as a “conservative,” kissing up to Dems just doesn’t do it for me.
Especially with this typical, higher education bureaucrat of a woman.
8o.
C’mon. What’s the punchline!?!
Here’s the punchline:
The political version of a nice warm Slurpy.
With actions like that taking place in the White House… it should ease the shock of potentially having a far left liberal… or just a leaning-left McCain.
The next four years, one way or the other, is going to be very interesting. At least there shouldn’t be any shortage of stories to report.
RLR
Bet you believe Bush attacked Ieaq beause of Saddam, which is partly true. However, Bush would have never attacked Iraq had Saddam not plotted to kill his fther Bush Sr. who would have never attacked Iraq if his extended-family in Riyadh was not in danger… if you can see the real purpose of the two gulf wars.
Are we talking about Bush or McCain?
Scary.
Although I’m a registered Republican, I unreservedly despise President Bush. There’s no point in rehashing here every craven, groveling, utterly idiotic thing the man has done and said over the last 8 years. I keep hoping he won’t do anything at all so he won’t do any more damage between now and January. I’d prefer he go to his ranch and turn off the phones ’til it’s all over.
His relentless nitwit pandering to people who should be his political opponents is sickening. And, as if that weren’t bad enough, he’s too inarticulate and bumbling and too flat out lazy to effectively promote the few conservative ideas that seem register in his pin head.
I agree with Michael Savage with regard to GWB. He’s actively destroying the Republican Party. He’s doing everything in his power to create a Democrat one-party system by marginalizing our once-great, America-preserving party into a “Democrat-lite” bunch of mamby-pamby morons.
Bush’s true colors? The RINOs are coming home to roost. All these years of fooling us. Same on me. I stuck by Bush from the beginning but his last 18 months as President broke my camel’s back. Global Warming, now this? And I won’t be fooled again…
That’s NOT the Donna Shalala I new.
-GWB
It’s gotten to the point where I don’t discuss politics anymore, because I’ve run out of ways to defend this man.
What an absolute disappointment.
January can’t come soon enough.
This must fall under the “Can’t we all just get along” category. Or maybe it confirms the GOP = “Stupid Party”… and I am one of them… yikes!
A wedgie would be more appropriate.
Sad but true.
I have a feeling that this will not be the last liberal move by Bush. Too bad the left does not really understand all of the things wrong with Bush, the important stuff (you all know what it is). So once again the Republicans have nominated a liberal to run in November…when will we wise up and find a true Conservative.
LAME DUCK??? Hell, I think he is more like a BULL with no BALLS!!!
That’s what’s called a *steer*!
As in “… a bum *steer*…”
