Conservatives to McCain: Visit ANWR

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 12, 2008 03:44 PM

John McCain is stubbornly and foolishly sticking to his No ANWR drilling talking points (video here in case you missed it).

McCain needs to do what he keeps pressing Barack Obama to do on Iraq (and rightly so): Get on the ground and talk to the people who know the terrain best.

The calls for McCain to visit ANWR are mounting. See here and here.

What are they waiting for?

“obscene profits” – and this is the new head of the Republican Party talking! Who defines what “obscene” is? Why, McVain, of course. He in his infinite wisdom will decide who gets to make how much. Tell me how this is different from the liberals/leftists/DemocRATS, please tell me?

It seems both the leftists and McCain would rather have everybody living at a subsistence level, with no “obscene” profits for investments, growth, capital improvements, discretionary spending, charity giving and wealth building.

What a bunch of frickin’ morons.

I for one think that the time has come for our country to end its dependence on foreign sources for domestic energy.

Chosing my position on the issue is easy defining the correct solution is not. If we have the methods in place to safely drill in ANWR and offshore, lets do so but let us also invest in increasing nuclear energy to lower dependence on fossil fuels for home heating (especially on the east coast) and other use cases that can be replaced with clean energy

About 180 million gallons of oil seeps into the ocean from the seafloor each year. Many natural oil seeps occur off the coast of California and in the Gulf. Wouldn’t it make sense to harvest this oil rather than continuing to allow it to pollute our oceans and just go to waste?
