Chosing my position on the issue is easy defining the correct solution is not. If we have the methods in place to safely drill in ANWR and offshore, lets do so but let us also invest in increasing nuclear energy to lower dependence on fossil fuels for home heating (especially on the east coast) and other use cases that can be replaced with clean energy

It seems both the leftists and McCain would rather have everybody living at a subsistence level, with no “obscene” profits for investments, growth, capital improvements, discretionary spending, charity giving and wealth building.

How about telling how us this “level playing field” works: what is that we (who?) are supposed to see is “level”: cost of labor, availability of capital, having to import raw materials rather than use locally available resources….

Just askin for something concrete, is all………..

Sounds like Democrat talking points. No one knows for sure how much oil is undiscovered in Alaska, but most agree, it’s a lot. The incredibly biased way the left refers to ANWR, or any oil find is this; find whatever “expert” they can to get the lowest possible estimate of oil in a given location. Then they assume that 100% of US oil is going to come from this place, and say it will last for “only” 6 months or two years or whatever. Not only is that torturing the truth beyond recognition, it has nothing at all to do with whether oil should be pumped from ANWR or any other place WHERE LOTS OF OIL IS LOCATED. It’s the equivalent of the Saudi’s finding a huge new pool of oil and saying, “don’t drill there, it will only supply the world for two years.”

Also, why does no one talk about the effect domestic drilling would have on the huge trade imbalance? Estimates are that from ANWR, off the coast and interior drilling we could easily pump another 3 million barrels/day. Whether this oil is used domestically, or put on the world market, at $130/barrels X 3,000,000/barrels this is $390,000,000/day off of the trade deficit, a lot of money even in government terms.

Drill now and drill often.

So, why can’t we recognize our own vulnerability and begin our own domestic oil exploration and building of new refineries?

The Republican Party calls and sends me request for money on a regular basis. Too bad all my extra money is going into my fuel tank. It is costing me $85-90.00 per fill-up on my vehicle right now, whereas I was paying $50-65.00 per fill-up a short while back.

Sorry if campaign contributions are not quite up to your liking Senator McCain. We regular, everyday Americans are feeling a little pinch ourselves these days.

If anyone has been listening to Rush.. He’s gone one about Cindy Mc–Maverick (I have a hard time even saying his name) receiving ‘obscene profits’ much MUCH higher than anything the oil companies have received.. Cindy is heir to Budweiser beer…
