Chris Dodd: Unscrupulous borrower

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 13, 2008 03:01 PM

Want a chuckle? Google “Chris Dodd and unscrupulous lenders.” Try it. You’ll come up with gobs of press releases and sanctimonious statements from Sen. Dodd, who has milked the subprime crisis for all it demagogic worth and spearheaded the latest bailout boondoggles.

You also won’t need to look far and wide to find him commenting about controversial lender Countrywide Mortgage’s loans to American home buyers.

What you will not find are any statements from Dodd disclosing those special loan deals he received on his Washington townhouse and Connecticut residence from Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo, which Conde Nast’s Portfolio exposed yesterday.

Chris Dodd: Unscrupulous borrower. Pass it on.

***

Sen. Dodd needs to get his nose out of the oil industry’s business and mind his own house(s).

I’d be willing to bet that his credit score isn’t even that high. I read one of the chain emails… (for what it is worth) the other day that said there are 19 members of congress accused with bad check writing, 71 can’t get a credit card with their credit score and 8 have been accused of shoplifing. I have been trying to research this a little on my off time.

Has anyone looked into the financial records of Dodd, and Conrad, and compared them with the ones the provided when they first got elected? THAT would be enlightening to say the least.

Cockroaches are an advanced form of life compared to politicians. I don’t understand why people are so shocked to hear these guys are corrupt. What does it take to make folks understand that taking bribes and handouts is exactly and specifically how they get elected, stay elected, and survive after they get thrown out? It’s called “campaign contributions”, but it’s still bribery.

I never understood the desire to be a politician. You can’t please everyone but you seem honor-bound to try. It’s a thankless job…oh wait…that’s right…it’s sooooo easy to get your hand in the cookie jar. Unfortunately, it sucks when you get caught.

It could be worse, though. Dodd took the Eliot Spitzer approach, but for him, it was the *mortgage* industry he was playing around with. *out*

    Let me get this straight:

    1. If you’re anonymous Joe Schmoe you don’t get sweetheart deals for your home’s mortgage. Check.

    2. If you’re somebody who’s a politician, rich, famous or Chris Dodd, you will get an automatic gimme from Countrywide. Check.

    3. If you’re said politician…. oh, I don’t know, Obummer or Dodd, you can rail against Countrywide and the subprime industry while getting sweetheart real estate/mortgage deals. Check.

    4. If you’re the old media, such hypocrisy is not news. If it happened to somebody with an R next to their names or are Conservative, it is news. Check.

Lesson: Do as I say, not as I do… right, Dems?

Dodd the fraud? I’m shocked and appalled (that he could keep being reelected).

I believe that if you dig deep enough, you will find his hands in the middle of the Arthur Anderson/Enron debacle as well. Read http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0102/morris1.asp
This can be verified independently from the toe sucker as well, but it is a nice summary.

Remember the Lippo Group? Well, Dodd was DNC chairman then and in the middle of the scandal
    http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/election/october96/finance_reform_10-21.html

The list goes on. He is as dirty as his father was in CT politics.

As a Dem he was rewarded for his activities. If he were a Republican, there would be several Dem investigations and an eventual resignation.

Dodd is one of the most corrupt and damaging politicians in government.

    The same old same old.

While there’s lots of blame to go around, lawmakers are likely to focus on how to rein in lenders, brokers, appraisers and, not insignificantly, mortgage investors.

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.) last week proposed a predatory lending bill.

That bill is geared toward permanently expanding mortgage borrower protections and weeding out unscrupulous lenders.

Wonder if it will weed out Country Wide?
