More on the faces and the story you won’t see on the nightly news tonight:
A federal jury on Friday convicted three Toledo-area men of Middle Eastern descent of plotting attacks against U.S. troops overseas and other terror-related acts.
Mohammad Amawi, Marwan El-Hindi, and Wassim Mazloum, all of whom are Muslim, were convicted on all counts of conspiring to kill or injure people outside the United States and face sentences of life in prison.
Prosecutors said the men were learning to shoot guns and make explosives while raising money to fund their plans to wage a holy war against U.S. troops.
“Today’s verdicts should send a strong message to individuals who would use this country as a platform to plot attacks against U.S. military personnel in Iraq and elsewhere,” said Patrick Rowan, acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security, in a written statement.
“This case also underscores the need for continued vigilance in identifying and dismantling extremist plots that develop in America’s heartland.”
…Amawi and El-Hindi are U.S. citizens, and Mazloum came to the U.S. legally from Lebanon. El-Hindi was born in Jordan, and Amawi was born in the U.S. but also has Jordanian citizenship.
They had blended easily into the city’s thriving Muslim community.
Mazloum was a college student who helped his brother run a used car lot. Amawi once worked at a bakery. And El-Hindi was a married father of seven.

Well I’m sure big Tim will take up a fair amount of time tonigh and righfully so.
Aww, you gave it away — the answer that I sure none of us saw coming.
I wonder how many come illegally from our Southern AND Northern borders.
And another 3 bite the dust.

Now, these are people that should have access to the US criminal justice system. You know, because they are Americans. Regardless of how crappy they are. And it looked like the system did the right thing for them. Maybe they should be sentenced Sharia-style and let the bodies hit the floor.
Well AP is running it, so it should be re-printed tomorrow… you got to give them a day or two to spin it. And CAIR needs time to get the government to pay for set-up of the websites demanding their release.
The Mosque they are from should be destroyed. This will help other false god worshiping POS to think twice before allowing terrorists to hide among them.
BTW, did anyone elce think these three examples of the religion of peace look like terrorists?
Yes, I profiled, but stay on topic.
Guess I’m a profiler too. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, I usually assume it is a — duck !
These three all look similar and I can’t tell which one is Moe or Larry or Curley.
At least the media tycoons and the bankers have their priorities straight.
That’s a trick question huh? Everybody knows celebrities are much more important than someone who only wants to kill you.
Yeah, but how many years is a life sentence nowadays? Especially for someone with any kind of financial backing and good lawyers?
Sorry …
R. Kelly got himself an O.J. caliber jury in Chicago, in Chicago. I’m shocked, just shocked. Another example of subculture justice.
And for those poor Muslim boys, such good boys, doing Allah’s work. We just don’t understand these moderate Muslims.
Oooops, I missed this the first time.
“And El-Hindi was a married father of seven.”
Math was never my strong point, but it seems to me that we don’t need ANY immigration. In fact we need to errr, “motivate” people to LEAVE the country (beyond those that threaten to leave if McCain wins) if ya know what I mean.
just doing the killing of U.S. soldiers that Americans won’t do. why do we let these people in?
whoops. sorry! I forgot about code pink and the other libtards.
just doing the killing of U.S. soldiers that
Americansreal Americans won’t do.I’m sure Tim Russert will dominate the news headlines… a true blue. As to R. Kelly and the jihadists… I’m sure Kelly’s young, bobblehead, fans will be gratified whereas, since America doesn’t think terrorists will ever harm them or that we’re even in a war, they’ll just shrug their shoulders and say, “so what?”
Russert will dominate for how he shaped and influenced the coverage of politics… and how he will probably be the last of the true blues of the old media.
The Asst Attorney general thought that these convictions would send a message…. but if the message never goes beyond the courtroom or this thread…… who’s listening and learning?
I read on CNN this morning, (in the bottom line, about 3:00 AM )that BHO is having the DC Office of the DNC to Chicago… anybody else see that? How special! Right where the DNC Natl. Office needs to be. It will be so much easier to plan the rout from C H I C A G O! C H I C A G O! …da da da da da!
Russert at least had the appearance of being fair…God rest his soul..and bless his family.
I saw that RELAND!, I saw it on FOX.
So, you think they’re going to hear about this in that Saudi-funded Madrassa?
Yeah. Right. Sure. We’re tuff….NOT!
I’m so glad someone else saw that.. it probably will be stuffed until next week. Have you noticed how the MSM lets these little snippets out real early in the am?
I’m all for protecting our troops, but how about protecting American citizens from madrassas?
I will hike back to CA, pack SS’s bags, load them (and her) on a two wheeler, drag her to the border, and dump her scrawny liberal a– in the Rio Grande…if McCain wins! And I’m an old lady!
AP
Obama: Payroll tax on incomes above $250,000 oops..just hot off the wire..
Again, when sentenced, these three stooges should be held with the general prison population.
Start the music.
Epic neckbeards!
reland1 … i think i love you
Thanks for the conviction news. I missed it when I scanned the headlines.
Persecution of Christians in Egypt ;
US gives Egypt $1.3 BILLION a year:
$50,000,000,000 (that would be BILLION) since 1975…
My elected officials–Where are you???!!!

You will excuse me if I don’t too excited until I hear what their sentences are. A Supreme Court wannabee is probably on the bench and will sentence them to time served and a really stern lecture on proper hygiene of their beards. Oh and an apology for not having a Koran handy for them to hug.
These poor misunderstood Islamists!
How dare law enforcement take “pre-emptive” steps to thwart their plans, and protect US citizens!
This is America, darn it, and WE are not supposed to take ANY action until AFTER the deed has been done!!! I mean, how do we know whether or not any of their alleged plans could have been carried out?
Well, at least Al-Hindi has seven little martyrs that will grow up to avenge him, eventually. Lucky us.
/sarc off
It will only be as strong as the government or MSM make an effort to instruct the public as to what took place. Sadly I do not see this happening.
News of the convictions turned up on my Earthlink homepage. Somebody somewhere out there is starting to get it.
I noticed that the second story in the Google search was titled “Islamic community worries stereotyping may result from Toledo terror trial”. Typical.
And as for ’sending a message’, I think the Death Penalty sends a stronger message. Or how about trial for Treason?
Wow! It’s great to see people from my hometown making news. Look folks, being located between Detroit and Cleveland makes it tough to get noticed. We had to stage a KKK march and have riots, then a crazy lawyer faking her kidnapping and holing up in Georgia, and now these half-ass jihadis. Just imagine if we had a crazy mayor who…yeah, we got that too.
Stories like this make me nostalgic for the old days.
Does anyone here remember the days when our government would actually execute or at least punish criminals?
No?
Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me again.
That defense attorney is a joke. All you have to do now is the Obama-dope trick and all of your bad associations just float away.
In this case you could have Mohammad Amawi say, “well, that not the Marwan El-Hindi I knew.”
Can’t wait for comments from CAIR
R. Kellys talent escapes me any way………..
A peculiar looking trio. They all manage to look like grafitti where someone has added a beard or moustache in magic marker.
Wait a minute!
Wait a minute!
The United States Deptment of State says that there’s to be no discussion of or acknowledgement of any connection between Islam and acts of so-called terror.
And we’re not allowed to mention the word jihad.
So, stop, already.
It’s got to be something else that drove these guys to misunderstand their religion. Poverty, unemplyoment, frustration at non-assimilation into our society, or something.
It’s not Islam. Can’t be. Uh uh. No no no. Find something else.
And don’t ever mention this idea again.
I bet if we executed them as traitors (presuming they are citizens), it might raise the interest tally a bit.
Let’s find out.

Maybe it’s not a big story because they aren’t acting like terrorists in the U.S. but rather just seem interested in fighting invaders/occupiers in Iraq.
The story says:
Prosecutors said the men were learning to shoot guns and make explosives while raising money to fund their plans to wage a holy war against U.S. troops.
Although these guys were here in America, and had the perfect opportunity to kill civilians in the heartland of America, they didn’t even try.
Clearly, their goal isn’t to terrorize U.S. civilians — that would have been a LOT easier for them then trying to go all the way to Iraq to fight with the resistance.
Are they really terrorists? Or do they just want to fight an ordinary war, by ordinary rules? They just seem to want to go to war, and fight the enemy’s soldiers.
Now, they’re still the enemy of the U.S. — but they don’t seem to be the fanatical kill-all-Americans type of terrorist we’ve been told we should be fearing. They just seem mad about the occupation of Iraq.
These 3 would be murderers worked out of the same Toledo building I regularly entered for medical treatment. Their office was visible and gave people the creeps. So glad to know that there is nothing to this false charge of Islamofacism in America rumor other than racism. I mean its not like Muslims are arrested and convicted of trying to murder Americans every single week all across the USA including my home town. I just hope that if Muslims are successful in a mass murder scheme here in the US, that their victims be those who are most vocal that there is no threat from Muslims, or better yet, target the scum who have fabricated lies about our soldiers being sadistic murderers.
