The story says:
Prosecutors said the men were learning to shoot guns and make explosives while raising money to fund their plans to wage a holy war against U.S. troops.

Although these guys were here in America, and had the perfect opportunity to kill civilians in the heartland of America, they didn’t even try.

Clearly, their goal isn’t to terrorize U.S. civilians — that would have been a LOT easier for them then trying to go all the way to Iraq to fight with the resistance.

Are they really terrorists? Or do they just want to fight an ordinary war, by ordinary rules? They just seem to want to go to war, and fight the enemy’s soldiers.

Now, they’re still the enemy of the U.S. — but they don’t seem to be the fanatical kill-all-Americans type of terrorist we’ve been told we should be fearing. They just seem mad about the occupation of Iraq.

Which will get more media attention:

A) R&B singer R. Kelly’s acquittal on child pornography charges; or

B) The conviction of three Muslim jihadis in Toledo, Ohio on charges of plotting to kill U.S. soldiers in Iraq?

I bet if we executed them as traitors (presuming they are citizens), it might raise the interest tally a bit.

Wait a minute!

The United States Deptment of State says that there’s to be no discussion of or acknowledgement of any connection between Islam and acts of so-called terror.

And we’re not allowed to mention the word jihad.

So, stop, already.

It’s got to be something else that drove these guys to misunderstand their religion. Poverty, unemplyoment, frustration at non-assimilation into our society, or something.

It’s not Islam. Can’t be. Uh uh. No no no. Find something else.

And don’t ever mention this idea again.

In this case you could have Mohammad Amawi say, “well, that not the Marwan El-Hindi I knew.”

Does anyone here remember the days when our government would actually execute or at least punish criminals?

And as for ’sending a message’, I think the Death Penalty sends a stronger message. Or how about trial for Treason?

“Today’s verdicts should send a strong message to individuals who would use this country as a platform to plot attacks against U.S. military personnel in Iraq and elsewhere,” said Patrick Rowan, acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security, in a written statement.

It will only be as strong as the government or MSM make an effort to instruct the public as to what took place. Sadly I do not see this happening.
