Happy Birthday, Army

The Army celebrates its 233rd birthday today. Blackfive salutes.
It’s also Flag Day. My friend Rich Davis sends an invitation to anyone in the West Chester, PA area to join the American Sheepdogs at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 12:15 – 4:15 today at 110 W Market St for a Flag Day celebration. Rich adds:
If you can’t make it to West Chester, please remember to put a flag in the window or on the porch, and say a prayer of thanks for all our troops, especially the members of our Army as they celebrate the day they were founded.
Happy Birthday Army!
To America!
To Old Glory!
To Victory!

GO ARMY!
I always did like Flag Day, for many reasons. It’s unique. It’s Patriotic. It usually fell on the last day of school. In my world, every day is “Flag Day”. Happy Flag Day everybody.

I just moved into a military community, as a civilian. Today, as always, there is a flag out front, and a flag out back. Many houses, I noticed, have none. Well, this guy is showing his colors and darn proud of it…and darn proud to say “Happy birthday” to the Army Strong.
Go Army!
Happy Birthday to the United States Army!
The Caissons Go Rolling Along…
My Flag has been on display everyday, 24/7, since September 11, 2001. Two have been retired due to fading, the third will need retired soon.
Zorro, I know what you mean. We had to take a trip down to the store, early this morning, because our 2 flags…well…just didn’t look “respectable” on this day. Brand new ones are waving now. The old ones were retired the proper way…cutting and burning, one stripe at a time.
Graysonret, exactly right, I have new flag flown at Bagram standing by.
Here’s a wave file to celebrate the day.
That’s right. Barbeque wings to celebrate.
Thanks everyone! Where’s the cake?
I couldn’t more proud of my 20 years in the US Army and the California National Guard.
Happy Birthday to us!
Happy 233rd! You’re still hawt.
OK – my turn -
You had me for:
24 years,
10 months,
29 days,
and I enjoyed each and every one of
them.
I had the honor of attending the
Official Ball of the US Army at Fort Myers on their 200th Birthday.
Thank you each and every one of you who are serving today.
My flag flies from my porch every day.
Happy Birthday to the United States Army.
God bless America. God bless our troops.

I am honored to tell you that I will serve as honorary Commander for my VFW’s flag disposal ceremony tonight. I will be with three who are Army veterans of WW2 and Korea. I couldn’t be in better company.
“You may fly over a land forever; you may bomb it, atomize it, pulverize it, and wipe it clean of life – but if you desire to defend it, protect it, and keep it for civilization, you must do this on the ground the way the Roman Legions did, by putting your young men into the mud.” – T.R. Fehrenbach, “This Kind of War”
“Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have. It is a weapon that we as Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice terrorism and prey upon their neighbors.” – Ronald Reagan, 20JAN81
Happy Birthday U.S Army. And many more.
And thanks to all who served, serve and will serve. You are my heroes.

I’m proud of you! God Bless America and God Bless Our Troops!
I didn’t serve, but sincerely appreciate all who have.
Last weekend I went to visit my father (an Air Force vet) and he mentioned he needed some help to replace the flag on his pole (he’s 77). As we were lowering it he reminded me, as he always has, not to let it touch the ground as men and women, like you died to protect and defend it!
God bless all who have served and are serving now!
Happy Birthday Army!
Worth remembering: what is called Ceasar Chavez Something (Boulevard?) in San Fran was originally named Army Street.
I am glad to have left Frisco in ’81, the things I liked are probably all gone by now.
Save this bit of bias, which I neither miss nor is probably any better now: I once applied at Bank of America in SF for a programmer’s job. One of the pages of the xeroxed application had questions about military service. In a handwritten scrawl at the top of that page was “Do not fill out this page”. I did anyway, figuring that it would be way easier to write it down myself than to tell the interviewer what to put in the form.
The short story is that I flunked their anti-Vietnam era vet screen. They were trying to identify those applicants that were not cowed by anti-war sentiment and proud of their service.
My interview went swimmingly right up until we got to that page. Then wam, bam, nice to see you, we’ll be in touch.
Louts from the same computer classes I took got jobs. But they were not vets.
Not to burst any dog face balloon, but June 14th, 1784 is the correct date of establishing the U.S. Army.
The Continental Army was established on June 14, 1775.
Either way, June 14th is the birthday of both armies.
Happy birthday Army.
19+ and still going. Loving every minute of it. Truly, the army has given me as much or more than I have given it. (And I have given a lot….)
I wouldn’t trade my service for anything.
Happy Birthday. (Even though I celebrated yesterday at the 3ID headquarters building.)
Conservative babe poll. Help by voting for Michelle!

According to Army field Manual one (FM-1) dated June 2005 the officially recognised Army birthday is 14 June 1775.
dreid, Megyn Kendall is ahead in the vote by nearly 100 votes. Michelle is in second.
Zorro, vote the Chicago way. Get dead people to vote for her.
Where’s the Jeff Koons, Google tribute to Flag Day and the Army? I guess the Army don’t like that weird sh*t.
Jeff Koons and his pornstar wife could not be reached for comment.
Happy Birthday to all the Army vets past and current … from an old Devil Dog …
Mrs. Klaatu had the flags out before breakfast!
Happy birthday to all active and non active Army soldiers…and a Big Thank You to all the military personnel past and present that have fought for our freedoms…Bless you all. It’s another Great Day in America.

Here is the excert from U.S. Army FM-1 Chapter 1
THE ARMY IN AMERICAN HISTORY
1-9. The Army traces its heritage to the colonial militias. These were precursors of today’s Army National Guard. Citizens answering the call to protect their homes and families began a heritage of selfless service and sacrifice that continues today. Opposition to British colonial policies in the eighteenth century led to war in 1775. After the battles at Lexington and Concord, militia forces from across New England surrounded British forces in Boston. The Continental Congress assumed command of these units as “Troops of the United Provinces of North America” on 14 June 1775.
This date is taken as the Army’s birthday. The next day, Congress gave command of all “Continental forces” to George Washington. Washington’s forces were the first American military organizations responsible to an authority other than that of the individual colonies or the British Crown. Born in this quest for freedom, the Army has served the Nation in peace and war for over 230 years.
Happy Flag Day to all! Today is/was my grandpa’s birthday. He passed away a few years ago, but I always thought it was great that his birthday was the same day that we celebrate our flag and all the thought and passion that went into its creation.
Happy Birthday, Army! and THANK YOU!!! and GOD BLESS YOU!!! to all who have served.

A belated Happy Birthday to those that serve or have served in the United States Army from an old retired fly boy. Thanks for defending our way of life for 233 years.
Happy Flag Day and happy birthday to the great U.S. Army!
I wore my patriotic flag shirt, rode in a fundraising ride with the PGR and others to help raise money for a Utah Freedom monument at Ft Douglas, then went to see the traveling Vietnam Mem. wall in Ogden last night. It was a full, long day. Worth every bit of it, too!
I was at the Army Birthday Ball last night at the DC convention center with my former father in law who is a retired full bird. They thought it would be nice for me to get out of the house and dress up. It was great. The Vice President, Dick Cheney was there with is lovely wife Lynne and General George Casey was as well. They had a fantastic band Keni (something) & Cornbread, former Army Ranger who saw action in Mogadishu.
For all the naysayer trolls who won’t venture on to this thread; when the toast came up for the Commander in Chief-the crowd went WILD! Also in attendance were some Cadets from West Point (the f-i-l’s Alma Mater) and of course they were very nice young men (not sure if there were women or not, we had three at the table behind us) as well as the dog. One of the Emcees was the current Miss Utah who is a medic who has done a tour in Afgahnistan who did 33 push ups in her gown. We were blessed to be at a table with some wounded warriors who all had incredible stories and a longing to return to the front.
They honored a journalist from Time who had lost his hand in the early days of the war and was the first civillian treated at Walter Reed. His parents had survived the Holocaust and spoke of the family’s love for the Army as they were at a camp that was liberated by the US Army.
God Bless the Army-terri 12 years, 3 months, 19 days-separated due to marriage to Navy pilot.
Hubby Michael-1988-1996-to go Green to Gold. May 1998-until present currently back in Iraq.
HOOAH!!!
I was that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go and did what others failed to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror, felt the stinging cold of fear, and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love.
I have cried, pained and hoped… but most of all I have lived times that others would say were best forgotten.
At least someday I will be able to say that I was proud of what I was…

Hmmm, seems a good place for my first post. I was in Basic Training 33 years ago, it was my first week. It was a time I will never forget or regret, the Army treated me well.
Happy Birthday Army and best wishes to all who served.
Happy birthday, Army!
Here’s wishing you many, many more!
