When the grads and parents went into the reception area, there was a table with a huge poster of Matthews who was using the occasion to hold a book signing. My friend was livid. After visiting with parents, etc., my friend went to find the dean to complain how inappropriate AND offensive that was, didn't see anyone, but when he walked through the reception area a moment later, there was no sign of Matthews or his books. Someone must have sent Matthews a message and he left. What a piece of work he is. The grads were left scratching their heads...what was THAT all about--when it should have been a time of great encouragement and congratulations, Matthews used it as a means to promote himself. He actually talks about people who went into the military or the peace corps as if the two things are remotely comparable.
