My local liberal rag (the grossly misnamed Springfield "Republican") ran a crAP story titled "Black Repbulicans in quandary."

It cites several allegedly Republican blacks that are tending to vote for Obama, including Armstrong Williams, J.C. Watts (!), Colin Powell, Michael Steele, and Ed Brooke.

No other reason than Obama's race is given as the reason for such a "quandary."

I ask you, is this not racist? I mean, would a group of white Republicans or Democrats get up and say that they are going to vote for McCain because they are proud of him because he is white?

And are these blacks not the ultimate in RINOs, inasmuch as Obama is as ideologically different from a conservative as you can get (and still be on this planet)?

If Obama wins because he is black, it is just as bad as if he lost because he is black. Particularly since he is such and empty suit, and should be judged on that alone.

Armstrong Williams? Who's paying him now? None of these people are really conservatives. Agree with #25.

To be fair, while there are plenty of black pseudo-conservatives blow-hards out there, there are also plenty of white one's as well (e.g. Bush, McCain, to name just two). I mean, there is a kind of equality of jerks emerging here, so maybe Obama is bringing us together, after a fashion.

Men like Thomas Sowell know exactly what Obama is and how we should respond to him. I really don't believe there is any need or point to taking the CINOs seriously. Their game will never change.

There are some blacks I would definitely support, if they run. But, then again, I do know what "forlorn hope" is.

Anybody who’d support the Obamessiah is not by anyone’s definition a conservative.

No, of course conservatives will suppport the candidate that supports them...

...

...

Pesonally, I'm itching for the libs and their lies and empty promises to be exposed once and for all.

This need some have for top, visible positions to be filled by those who "look like them" is IMO a psychological error. It's their problem that they're trying to make my problem.

Ask yourself if these people are admired because a) these people are black, b) despite them being black, or c) a big "who cares":

. Tiger Woods
. Oprah Winfrey
. Bill Cosby
. Colin Powell
. Michael Jordan

It's c), isn't it? A big "who cares" to their race? Yet we have the likes of Whoopi and Sherry on the View wanting Obama to be prez because he "looks like them". What is this with seeing and being seen? What about ability, WHO you are, or the content of your character?

Yes I understand blacks have had a heavy burden put on them by some whites who judged them by their skin color. But isn't there a time to stop letting other people define you? Isn't that time now? When does it stop?

I'm afraid some want Obama as prez BECAUSE he's black, because they think that makes him different, and that that difference will make him a better president. I don't think his race makes him different. I couldn't care less about his skin color. For those that need to see someone who looks like them in visible positions of power, that's their problem. Don't ever expect me to think that way because I won't do it.

I lost all respect for Williams and Watts when I read that. Neither has any credibility anymore. I'll never listen to either of them again. Powell has never had any conservative bonafides so it's no loss there. I've never listened to him anyway.
