Former Republican tied to Rezko swtiches sides: backs Obama, terrorists in Iraq

By see-dubya  •  June 17, 2008 02:08 PM

Via the Jawa, the Hudson Institute’s Nibras Kazimi has drilled into the story of Chicago Iraqi-American Ayham Alsammarae, who as the Iraqi electricity minister brokered deals in Iraq for Tony Rezko. But he breaks through the initial layers of mere opportunistic sleaze and shadiness and strikes a gusher of something really grotesque:

In an astounding and blatantly treasonous assertion for a U.S. citizenship holder, he stated that “the [insurgency] in Iraq is a legitimate resistance [movement] and it is against occupation and any resistance in the world against occupation is considered legitimate, and I hope that the [insurgency] continues and avenges the Iraqi people and I look forward to expanding its political agenda.”

Read the whole thing–there’s a lot more in that single post–and tell people about it. For some, the most interesting hook here is that he has donated the maximum amount to the Obamessiah, although I’m starting to wonder whether the people that are paying attention to this guy are burning out on new revelations of terrorists, extremists, tyrants, socialists, and their advocates answering his altar call.

Though the details of Alsammarae’s betrayal are stomach turning and newsworthy, I’m no longer surprised at these things. If a bin Laden tape comes out tomorrow singing “I’ma vote Obama-way”, it would no longer be new information to me. Yeah, we get it. People who want to see America humbled and defeated reliably and continually advocate Obama. Something about his presidency, they think, will bring more success to their nefarious plans and fulfill their interests.

Hey, maybe they’re wrong about him. Maybe they’re just crazy. But I think that sort of dismissal underestimates their intelligence.* FARC, Hamas, the Weather Underground, Castro, and this joker are all politically sophisticated survivors. I don’t think they’re on the bandwagon just because Jessica Alba looked hot in those Will.I.Am videos.

What does surprise me is that there are a bunch of conservatives who shrug at this cascade of revelations as pointless gotchas. Yes, Obama has extremist supporters, but that doesn’t mean he’s got anything in common with them. Plus hey, McCain has Hagee.

Me, I think there’s something about Obama that draws the support of elements who want to see America fail. Some are serious threats, some are not. But shouldn’t we as a nation be figuring out what that something is?

P.S.: Not only do Alsammarae and Obama share a connection with Tony Rezko, they also share a taste in movies. Here he is explaining his improbable escape from an Iraqi prison (where he was held on corruption charges) in 2006:

When asked how he could have pulled off such an escape, Mr. Alsammarae, who moved to Chicago in 1976 but returned to Iraq just after the invasion, laughed uproariously for 20 seconds. Then, recycling a famous line from an exchange about Al Capone in “The Untouchables,” Mr. Alsammarae said with undisguised glee: “The Chicago way.

More at Gateway Pundit. More still, about Alsammarae bailing out Rezko, at Pat Dollard.

*Let me not overestimate the intelligence and integrity of the Leftist commentariat here: because I have pointed out that terrorists and tyrants support Obama, it does not follow logically that everyone who supports Obama is a terrorist. Or even that everyone supports Obama also supports tyrants and terrorists. Or even that Obama himself reciprocates the support. So please don’t pretend that I said that.

I want to do a post about the similarities some day, but it will look like I’m trying to call Obama a Quisling when I’m really just trying to point out his creepy fascist-personalistic campaign style.

But I’ll have to work that in some day.

See Dubya, this is really not surprising. These big wigs from Illinois need Obama to get elected. If not, Resko sings taking out major leaders in the Republican Party.

Maybe not. I read the rest of the article linked above, and the slimebag seems to think he is covered by the new Iraqi amnesty law.

Although, knowing what a long tradition the “rule of law” enjoys in Iraq, he may be toast if he ever goes back.

Pastor Hagee is NOT AN EXTREMIST! He is an evangelical Christian who founded Christians United For Israel. He is not a Jew Basher or a Catholic basher – this was blown up in the media and presented that way to try to make him equivalent to Wright et al! I have seen the entire sermons in question and they are greatly misrepresented. If someone is not a Christian and is especially not one who looks to the future return of Christ and those end-time prophecies, he/she will have little to no understanding of his statements. It really tees me off when anyone tries to compare Hagee or even Parsley to Wright, Meeks or the great Father Michael of St Sabina!

That’s what worries me the most. There are too many “coincidental” endorsements by terrorists, too many “G** damn America types, too many “get out of Iraq before we win and Bush looks prescient” types, and too many “got a good deal on a mortgage or land” types.

Too bad McCain won’t be smart enough to point it out.

Most of the Old Testament Prophets were hated by the Israelites because the prophets would tell the Jews they had to get right with the Lord and many didn’t want to change their sinful lives. No different with Rev. Hagee, because most in this nation doesn’t want to believe or change their life style either. The bible has many warnings of what is to come. I agee with TNConservative totally.

I have a good friend who is conservative politically as well as theologically. He is against gay marriage, he is against abortion especially partial-birth abortion, most things liberals are for he’s against. He is also black. All he can see in Obama is the color of his skin. He doesnt care what Obama stands for or what he represents, all he can see is a black man is running for president. I sent him a link to a story about Hamas endorsing Ombama. He wanted to know what I was trying to say. I told him, only that the country’s enemies want Obama for president. He’s still an Obama man. Kind of sad.
