The Obamessiah has many leather bound speeches
Get ‘em now for $12, because you know that price is going up after the Transfiguration:
That’s right, it’s a faux-leather-bound collector’s edition DVD of the “More Perfect Union” speech. A piece of oratory ripe for canonization at the age of just three months. A piece of oratory so sage in its insight, so true in its observations, so riveting in its delivery, that the orator himself admitted it was all bunk just one month after its delivery, and yet still believes that you should own a copy of this “landmark speech” from which he has since entirely backtracked.
That’s from Mary Katharine Ham, ensconced in her new blog at the Examiner (go by and tell her howdy!).
The other day Moammar Qaddafi opened his mouth and something insane and ridiculous came out, which isn’t really news and so I didn’t blog about it. This time he said that he’s afraid Israel will kill Obama just like they did JFK. But then he also said that he thought that Obama suffers from low self esteem because he’s black.
Karol at Alarming News summed up my thoughts pretty well:
YA. I keep thinking that the problem with Obama is that he thinks he’s not as good as everyone else.
I think it’s that tragically low self-esteem that’s led him to start merchandising his Historic Sermon On The Mount Collector’s Edition DVD before the echoes have died away.
_______________
P.S. I’m looking over the article on Qaddafi’s speech and I think this counts as another Tyrant endorsement, even though he’s giving it on behalf of all Africa:
“This will be a tragedy,” Gadhafi said. “We tell him to be proud of himself as a black and feel that all Africa is behind him because if he sticks to this inferiority complex he will have a worse foreign policy than the whites had in the past.”

Is it just me or is Baroque Obozo morphing into the Seinfeld candidate?…a campaign about nothing? (not that ther’s anything wrong with THAT!)
Only if it has fine corinthian leather.
No, it’s seriously bound in
fakefaux leather.Which is appropriate, as well as PETA-approved.
Faux Leather just like his Faux experience.
And Faux Preacher.
And Faux Concern….
Can I get mine in blue?
How very QVC of Obummer. I didn’t know he was suddenly an entrepreneur!
Wow…. he really does support capitalism after all…. just more for him and less for the rest of us.
That would be medium self esteem as he’s half white.
Speeches…..
Policies…..
Friends…..
Bus……..
…..wait, the bus isn’t fake. He needs that to throw folks under.
Muammar is quite a nut…
Before taking too many harhars about Obama’s campaign selling the speech DVD, remember it’s a fundraiser. McCain’s site has more information on the golf equipment he’s selling than his policies.
Then look at what conservatives of yesteryear thought about great speeches of yesteryear. Look at what William Buckley said about JFK’s “ask not” line (lifted from Cicero) or the MLK “I have a dream” speech. The ignorami of yesteryear reacted to the historic speeches then as the ignorami of today react to Obama, like a baby reacting to vegatables.
I personally love vegetables, but I judge them on taste not color.
Eat your tainted tomatoes, lgm.
I know. I know. Technically the tomato is a fruit, but so is…never mind.
Maybe so. I haven’t checked. But if D’ohbama had any balls, he’d sell them as well.
lgm, you dare compare Obama with MLK? You’re sick.
LGM: Indeed, let’s consider those speeches. JFK – ask not…I notice that is exactly the opposite of the platform of the DNC. MLK – I have a dream…again, exactly the opposite of the DNC which this year has promoted candidates only on the basis of their ?genetic? identity, not on the basis of any accomplishments. So these two speeches were flowery rhetoric but nothing that in fact changed the course of history.
Now we contrast those speeches with Reagan” “Tear down that wall Mr. Gorbechev (spelling)” – if you might know history, the wall is down.
Two speeches, nothing accomplished, one speech – changed the course of history. Which is greater?
What has Obama said that will result in something positive?
Lets just hope it’s “Today, I’m ending my run for POTUS”
lgm would bring up a conservative Democrat and a Republican from a half century ago to try to make his point. There are definitely no modern Democrats to use as an example.
Oh my….this just keeps getting better and better! It could be a Saturday Night Live sketch!
MLK accomplished nothing? We must live in parallel universes. And yours, thankfully, must lie very, very far away from mine.
I think I’d have to disagree about Dr King. He definitely deserves much of the credit for the civil rights movement, certainly far more than the militants of the era.
The pant suit fell, now the empty suits turn.
And have the Hildebeest back in the race? Please, I don’t think I could take any more of that fingernails on a chalkboard voice.
I was thinking of something more along the lines of, “On this brisk November day I come before you to concede…”

Who the hell is MLK? What, you want MLK and cookies?
Suppose there is an adversary capable of catastrophic destruction in the US. With either Senator Obama or Senator Clinton as CIC
Faux leather to complement the faux messiah, thanks for the evening laugh see-dubya.
What’s with the pop-up that just told me I already said that..no I didn’t..so, I will finish #23, maybe.
…there would be talk, talk, talk, until an ultimatum was delivered.
Obama’s response – Surrender.
Clinton’s response – Nuke ‘em.
Who would you rather have as CIC between these two?
That is hard to top. This is one of those cases where reality leaves the political satirist speechless. But let’s go with it — how could McCain counter it? The best I can come up with is kind of a greatest hits compilation recording all the instances where he disses Republicans in general or in particular. Now, not all of these moments have been recorded, but some re-enactments could be done.
One possible drawback: the DVD would be R-rated for language, adult content, but that might also serve to increase sales. I’m sure plenty of liberals and many in the Republican base would buy a copy. They voted for him, after all.
So he was Grand Marshal at the Folsom Street Fair?
Oh. The speeches are leather bound. Never mind.
Chris Rock says he’s the guy after whom they named the street that runs through the worst part of town.

What they have in common is the reactions by the conservatives of the day. They trashed MLK and JFK then, and they trash Obama in the same terms today.
txvet2 said (#16):
JFK was not on the conservative side of the Democratic party then, and would not be today. Listen to his speeches. He was the moral force behind the welfare state. Calling MLK a Republican ignores the fact that back in the day in the South Republicans were the liberals and Democrats were the conservatives. Nixon and the southern strategy changed all that. The racist Democrats (Stennis, Helms, …) switched parties.
And we see how far the civil rights movement has gotten things.
For the most part, a certain segment of our population is worse off now with the civil rights movement and all of it’s fine accomplishments than before. Previously, you were evaluated on the basis of your merit. Now you can remain a permanent servant to the system. Great progress.
Moral force in the democratic party? You have to be kidding me.
There’s an oxymoron. Since when is stealing from one group of people and giving it to another group moral?
Speaking of the “War on Poverty,” how’s that working out? Anyone seen an exit strategy or a schedule for taxpayer redeployment? Bueller? Bueller?
I hope the actual speech writers are getting a cut of the pie from the Obamessiah. And they should get a pretty hefty slice; Obama is so consistently puzzled as to how to put together even one intelligent sentence on his own that it’s embarrassing. Without the puppet strings he can’t stand up.
Mao had a book too as I recall…
I’m holding out for the Special Edition featuring director’s commentary by Jeremiah Wight.
God…damn…Blu-ray!
I don’t have to. I was there. He would have been too conservative for today’s Democrat Party, even if he was fairly liberal for his time. And you don’t know anything about Republicans then, either, so leave it alone and you won’t sound so stupid. Oops, too late.
You can’t even be internally consistent. You should just slink back in your hole, troll, and pretend you didn’t start this.
I think you’re confusing the civil rights movement with Johnson’s welfare state.
But then, the civil rights movement cared about little more than the welfare of their johnsons.
His little book was red. Somehow, red got transformed from the color of Communists to the color of Pubbies.
The ignorami, isn’t that a New Guinea tribe? I know they don’t eat many vegetables. They prefer babies, friars and missionaries.
Awful big they there lad. All kinds of us had great respect for MLK for a long time. When he switched from civil rights to the Viet Nam war that did change–long after JFK was dead. I always thought JFK was a conniving jerk and his speeches so much New Deal boiler plate. But you would think him great.
How you doing lgm, besides being a pain in the butt?
When I saw the blog article title I snorted. I always enjoy a good “Anchorman” reference.
Ok, for once I agree with Qaddafi (not about race)
MLK and JFK wouldn’t get in the front door, today, with the Democrats. Both would be considered way too conservative. Imagine, the democrats approving JFK’s “Ask not” speech, or his speech to the Economic Club in NYC, talking about the “paradox of economics” (lower taxes to raise revenue). MLK spoke on individual responsibility and character…hardly accepted by the left today.
Maybe BHO should have been in the Boy Scouts of America where he could have gotten a little more self-esteem. Oh, wait. I bet he supports freaks, like those in CA, that want to get rid of the Scouts, because they incorporate their Christian faith into the organization. So much for that idea.
– lgm
If they even had THAT in common, it would be the only thing. Obama’s speech certainly didn’t have the genuine nature of MLK’s major speeches, rather it was intended at least substantially as damage control for his close associations with hateful preachers and the like.
Maybe McCain could come out with a coffee table book…what would it be about though? hmmm.. any ideas?
Mike Barnicle’s eulogy for his friend Tim Russert this is the best I have watched and listened to Gwen Ifill’s last article looked like her resume’ it had little to do with Tim Russert accept in relation to what she thought she had taught him…yeah NBC is in big trouble.

Whoever these people endorse should be clear indication to the rest of us that this is NOT NOT NOT who we need!!!
Loved all the GW references. Am I the only one who noticed them? Clearly Obama is a level 2 monk in pre-searing Ascalon.
Jeez that Obama fella is bad for America – anyone who agrees with me should join the military and do some tours in Iraq – who’s with me?
