Die Hippie Die: I'm glad the Show-me state is so well represented on MM's site. I think McCain won by a very small margin here didn't he?

paris, my point was, if everyone can do it the same amount of times, its not really cheating or dishonest...you know, like you apparently were as a child.

Thanks. Buh-Bye.

Back in Feb we had a chance to post our guesses. My choice for Obama remains the same: Jim Webb. He has too much class and gravitas, that the public will see that BO sorely lacks, to leave off the ticket. Plus, BO NEEDS VA. Webb could help deliver that.

Back then, I thought the lovefest between Rudy and Johnny Mac was too much to overcome, but it turns out that Rudy is a tad insane and the economy seems to be a bigger issue (right now, that is) than combating terrorism.

Does McCain choose someone to help shore up the conservative vote? Does he try to combat Obama's youth with his choice? Maybe he goes wild and picks someone to the left of himself, so that he can fight off the notions that he and W are one and the same. I don't believe that he'll choose a VP based on trying to win a specific state.

He might go with someone from outside the Beltway to combat the change message, too. But I doubt it. One thing about McCain, his ego will always win out over his rationale. He won't choose simply to counter his opponent.

I think he picks Lieberman to reinforce the "maverick" image and bring in independent voters. He trusts conservative voters will go with the lesser of two evils and stay away from the voter-purchasing progressive that is Obama.

(The BO campaign speeches promising targeted tax cuts, tuition payments, etc., and to stick it to anyone that is moderately successful just panders to the basest free lunch cupidity and economic envy in humanity. I feel ill every time he speaks.)

I chose Rob Portman for McCain, because he's "the economy guy" but without the problem of evangelicals running, as they do from Romney (whom I really support).

I chose Gen Anthony Zinni for Obama, because he's the "foreign policy" balancer, though it could just as easily be Gen Jim Jones or Weasely Clark.

Bill Nelson
Sarah Palin

I believe these are the best choices for each of the candidates.

But that's just me.

There are a lot of poor rural whites, old people, hispanics and jews in Florida, and that doesn’t typically bode well for Barack.

I didn't see a choice for generic spank blanket (d) or generic butt whisker(r). .... or did I???

This contest was too hard. I might become a liberal and just hope for change for hop and change.

I think we can pretty much say, along with Mark Steyn, that whomever McCain picks, it won't be someone we dig. And I think we can also say that whoever Obama picks will be even scarier than he is. Since I won't get any of those really cool McCain points no matter what happens, I'm no inclined to be more specific. Looking grim, folks. Looking really grim.

Other than the entertainment value, I have no real interest in the VP slot for either party. No matter who wins, the bumper sticker is the same:

Could be AJ, but I bet j. SIDNEY mccain will pay attention, as will Obama.

There are a lot of poor rural whites, old people, hispanics and jews in Florida, and that doesn't typically bode well for Barack.

I don't know if Team McCain thought Florida was up in the air, or that they'd have to fight it out in places like Virginia, NC, and Colorado.

For better or worse, a lot of important decisions are made based on polling.

As a resident, I never would have though Obama would have a shot down here. It' still early, but damn things are getting interesting.
