What’s Jeremiah Wright up to these days?

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 18, 2008 04:58 PM

Where’s America’s favorite America-damning pastor? The Institute for Religion and Democracy keeps you up to date:

An abortion rights coalition comprised primarily of mainline Protestant denominations is hosting controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright at its upcoming National Black Religious Summit on Sexuality in Washington, D.C. The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) will sponsor the event July 9-11, 2008 at the Howard University School of Divinity. The Institute on Religion & Democracy is urging RCRC and its member denominations to withdraw the invitation to Wright.

Wright has been denounced by his former parishioner, Senator Barak Obama, for his numerous incendiary comments, among them that the U.S. government was responsible for infecting African Americans with the virus that causes AIDS.

Washington-based RCRC defends unrestricted abortion rights in the name of its denominational members. The Washington-based United Methodist Board of Church and Society and the New York-based United Methodist Women’s Division both belong to RCRC, as do the Episcopal Church and Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

UM Action Executive Director Mark Tooley commented,

“That Mainline Protestant denominations continue to belong to a shameless abortion rights coalition is outrageous. That they would do so after the coalition invited Jeremiah Wright is nothing short of a scandal.

“RCRC is not a faith organization. It is a radical political lobby that advocates limitless abortion on demand. It is funded primarily by left-wing foundations, while appropriating the credibility of mainline churches for a religious veneer over its abortion rights extremism.

“It is bizarre that RCRC would invite Jeremiah Wright after he had ignited so much controversy. But in some ways it is fitting that a group as extreme as RCRC would choose an equally extreme spokesman.

“Hosting the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whom even Senator Obama has denounced, further showcases how radical RCRC is. If RCRC will not withdraw the invitation, hopefully there will be further motivation for RCRC’s member denominations to withdraw from RCRC.”

Agreed. How does a church reconcile abortion with Biblical teachings? The sad fact is that these “churches” will answer for their choices. Meanwhile – babies are still being slaughtered.

    Yep.

Really – what’s the point to going to church if all it is is a rehash of the DNC’s talking points? A faith that tells you everything is a-okay, you can do what you want and not worry, all truths are relevant, etc.? You’d be better off at brunch and it’d be far more honest to put a picture of yourself on the altar and worship it rather than a wishy-washy, moral-free, great big hermaphrodite in the sky (for those churches offended by the thought of God being male).

We’re always told that it’s wrong to say one religion is better than another, to believe your faith is the true faith (and provide reasons for saying so), but I don’t know how any one could look at this cabal of churches that supports the slaughter of innocent children and claim it’s just as good as a conservative church that respects, cherishes, and protects the dignity of life.

Guess they didn’t get to the part where it says Thou shall not murder?

Everyone knows that only applies to criminals on death row. Unborn children are burdens, “unwanted”, “lumps of tissue” that aren’t really human anyway. And if they *are* human – no matter. They’re inconvenient to someone’s lifestyle (not to mention a blight on the fragile planet) and it’s the woman’s “choice”…

And it cracks me up when newspapers now claim that obama denounced this guy without also saying he at first backed him up when he damned America..and then it took him long enough and much public pressure I’m sure from his followers to issue a denouncement which to me, was just TOO convenient. If one has to be convinced for that long to do the right thing, they aren’t ready for ANY type of leadership, let alone the most important office in the Free World.

Look at the NAACP giving michael vick an award right after the whole dog fighting and rape sticking dogs came out inthe public that he plead guilty to? Weren’t there other blacks they could have awarded that had their hands clean from this type of evil stuff? My answer is yes, apparently the NAACP’s answer was no. Sick.

Bur for the record, I think death row imates should be put out to pasture with a Sheriff Joe type and never be able to see their families again either but I digress. I was discussing this the other day with my neighbor who was lamenting that very same thing, having driven her grandson to Howard and passing 4 different death factories. She’s sickened that her Alma Mater will be visited by this fiend (her words) and wonders how they can continue to call themselves a “divinity school”. I have to agree though, I really wonder how these people can call themselves religious and be pro-death.

A liberal administration and court would merely ignore the words of the Constitution and claim something else takes precedence if it suits them. Just as gun laws only fetter the law-abiding, the Constitution only limits those who believe what it says.

It seems a lot of “Houses of God” are dropping that, to just become “churches”.

The liberal churches will tell you that nowhere in the Bible is abortion mentioned. While that is most likely true, consider this: God told his people child sacrifice was an abomination. You see in the OT where certain Hebrew kings and other people “allowed their children to pass through the fire.” That means they allowed their children to be sacrificed to false pagan gods.
If abortion isnt child sacrifice, what is it? A child’s life is sacrificed because two adults could not control their urges, and now this child is “inconvenient.” The socialist democrats worship at the alter of child sacrifice. When a socialist democrat invokes his “god”, i wonder – is he/she talking about Baal or Molec, both of whom required child sacrifice.
The fact of the matter is this country is going to be judged for its constitutional “right” to allow our children to pass through the fire.
