Inside McCain’s closed-door meeting with Chicago Hispanics
Scroll down for updates…Rosanna Pulido of the anti-amnesty group, “You Don’t Speak for Me:” “He’s one John McCain in front of white Republicans. And he’s a different John McCain in front of Hispanics.”
Last night, John McCain met with a carefully screened group of Chicago-area Latino voters. The town hall was closed to the media. Several readers e-mailed an eyewitness account of the event. Here’s an excerpt:
I was one of the 150 people at the Drake Hotel in Downtown Chicago Wednesday night who came to hear John MC Cain speak to Illinois Hispanics.
I had e-mail in my request to attend after seeing an article in the news paper announcing this event.
This is what i received……….

…..Personally as an Original Minuteman who attended the Historic Minuteman Border Watch in 2005 on the Arizona/ Mexico border and returni[n]g 2 more times for a tour of duty along our southern Border, I was especially looking forward to what John Mc Cain would say about illegal immigration.
This was a NO MEDIA ALLOWED EVENT! That is why I am reporting back to you, all of you folks who have fought so hard with your phone calls to Washington D.C. last summer, shutting down the Washington DC switch board and defeating the AMNESTY BILL. I am reporting back to you those of you who work tirelessly in your local cities and towns trying to get some public elected official to care and enforce the rule of law.
I was told by my friend and fellow Hispanic Marianne Davies who is on the board of “You Don’t Speak for Me” that John Mc Cain has been going across the country having “PRIVATE” meetings with Hispanics.
Although the [invitation] said we would be able to ask questions, that “question ” time with John McCain never happened. That was ok with me, I never had the intention of asking a question, I knew exactly the kind of open borders crowd I was with.
John McCain’s favorite words of the evening were Comprehensive Immigration Reform. But he started out first of all saying if he is gonna win the Presidential election he will need the support of the Latino community.
He said ” My state has been enriched by the Hispanic culture in Arizona.”
Then John McCain asked a question “Did you know this? I bet some of you did not know that Spanish was spoken in Arizona before English” …Loud cheers from the audience. (Ok John McCain What is your AZTLAN POINT?)
Then he said “I want to have some straight talk about our relationship with Mexico, our closest neighbor and dearest friend” He talked about the Mexican President fighting the drug cartels.
Then John McCain aid the exact thing I came to hear, he said “I was proud to work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform and If I am elected President I assure you that in 2009 I will ask Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform.” (The crowd goes wild) “It is a Federal Responsibility” he said and continued ” we also need a temporary guest worker program”
He then told a story about a day laborer who got picked up this morning, worked all day and then never got paid…We have no Federal Policy, we cannot allow this to happen, he said, He repeated I assure you that I will work for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
John McCain talked about a debate he was in about enforcing the law and he says that the “other side had a lot of “Rhetoric” “you know what I am talking about!” he said…
Yeah, we know what he’s talking about. All too well.

Related: Tipster Edgar M. sends an English translation of an article from Diario Libre touting McCain’s promise to renew his shamnesty push for the “undocumented:”
New York – The Republican candidate for the White House, Senator John McCain, promised that if he wins, a day after he is sworn in as a new president of the United States, he will pressure Congress to enact a law immediately in favor of immigration reform.
The candidate that appears today eight points behind his Democrat rival Barack Obama, did the pronouncement in an interview that he granted to the Hispanic newspaper La Opinion in Los Angeles…
McCain said that it is completely false that [he] has abandoned his original commitment to fight for reform for the more than 12 million undocumented immigrants that reside in the United States and that includes the failed proposal of President Bush, to secure the borders first.
“This reform will be a priority in my administration because it is a convincing federal responsibility”, added the contender of the Republican Party. “We will undertake immigration reform and on the day after my inauguration, I will ask Congress to reconsider it, although I believe that first we have to secure our borders, set in motion a plan for guest workers that works and to focus on the issue of the undocumented in a humane and compassionate way.”

Update: I’ve suggested before that McCain meet with the anti-illegal immigration Hispanic group, “You Don’t Speak for Me.” Rosanna Pulido is a member of the group. She speaks for me.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain assured Hispanic leaders he would push through Congress legislation to overhaul federal immigration laws if elected, several people who attended a private meeting with the candidate said Thursday.
Democrats questioned why the Arizona senator held the meeting late Wednesday night in Chicago. But supporters who were in the room denied that McCain held the closed-door session out of fear of offending conservatives, many of whom want him to take a harder line on immigration.
Both McCain and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama support giving legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, but neither has made the issue a centerpiece of the campaign. At one time, McCain’s campaign suffered because of his stance on the issue.
“This was not a secret meeting,” said Rafael Rivadeneira, a vice chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Illinois, who was among more than 150 Chicago-area Hispanic leaders who attended. “There was nothing he said that they wouldn’t want people to hear.”
Other attendees said they were not so sure.
“He’s one John McCain in front of white Republicans. And he’s a different John McCain in front of Hispanics,” complained Rosanna Pulido, a Hispanic and conservative Republican who attended the meeting.
Pulido, who heads the Illinois Minuteman Project, which advocates for restrictive immigration laws, said she thought McCain was “pandering to the crowd” by emphasizing immigration reform in his speech.
“He’s having his private meetings to rally Hispanics and to tell them what they want to hear,” she said. “I’m outraged that he would reach out to me as a Hispanic but not as a conservative.”

and it will make you feel better. By defeating McCain. This is something that I thought was the exclusive domain of democrats. Democrats always do things to feel better, not to make things better.
They make decisions and laws and do things politically to make them feel better.
Obama supports the recent SCOTUS decision McCain is against it. He has a 100% pro=life voting record Obama voted against the born alive bill in Illinois and is for partial birth abortion.
Obviously you don’t get it Wise-man. Defeating McCain isn’t about feeling good it’s about conservatives retaking their party.
You approach will only perpetuate the one party system we presently have.
What makes you think McCain is against it?
Now that I am off a conference call with my Congressman Wally Herger I can devote my attention here. I am not a big fan of McCain, I am voting against the socialist marxism of Obama, McCain is at least with me 80% of the time while Obama is 100% the complete opposite of what I believe so I will fight him tooth and nail. I fought McCain in the primaries as hard as I could untill Mitt dropped out. I worked hard for Mitt and it took my wind when he bowed out but I will be damned if I will let a radical marxist with ties to the PLO, the Weather Underground and Saddam’s regime into the Oval Office.
We do not have a ‘one party system’ in America.
When the people were angry with Bush’s dad over the ‘read my lips’ betrayal and either didn’t vote for him, or voted for Ross Perot, splitting the vote for Bill Clinton to be elected, the result was 8 years of Bill Clinton and what they did to this country, attempted takeover of the US healthcare system, and all the other events that some of us have forgotten.
The day after Obama is elected president, the republican party is going to look at the numbers of how many votes went to McCain, how many votes went to Obama, and how many people voted for Bob Barr, or wrote in their candidate for choice. Do you honestly think that any protest vote against McCain is going to be seriously looked at by these idiots and they will see the errors of their ways?
Every request I get for money I reply why I am not giving them money and what they can do in response. I don’t know if I am having any effect at all. I see the problem with the republicans in DC (which is huge, of course) as having less to do with not nominating conservative candidates – as much as – the republicans and (what few there are it would seem) conservatives who are voting for their pick in the primaries.
I wanted a strong conservative to win. I can’t figure out if their message was too weak to make more people vote for them, or it was a combination of many suitable conservatives, and not one single strong conservative or whatever. I would like to see the actual problem fixed, not some suicidal movement grow from places like this that damns America with an Obama win in some sort of bizarre claim that we will get a better conservative next time.
#100, you are 100% right. McCain wants to close GITMO and bring terrorists here, on US soil, and thus give them RIGHTS. So, his statements against the US supreme court decision are abvious pandering to conservatives, i.e., lies, just as 1. will close border first, 2. will appoint conservative judges (see article I psted above), 3. flip flop on drilling, and now we hear he may change on ANWR. Come on, he says one hing in public, then wispers in dark corners and CLOAK ROOMS of the senate like during amnesty. He is two faced. I don’t believe him on anything any more. I am running out of juice on my computer. Have fun borthers and sisters. God save our country.
I swear you McCain haters are deaf or something. McCain has voiced very strong opinions against giving terrorist habeus corpus rights while Obama is afraid to kill Bin Laden and doesn’t want to martyr him. Get a grip morons, everything you don’t like about McCain times 100 will become law under Obama. Don’t you fools realize that or are you Obama trolls???
As an aside the above is right on. Tghe only thing i’d add to it was that Phil Gramm the former Democrat-turned-Republican Senator from Georgia wsa part of the effort in the winding days of the the Clinton Admin. to de-regulate the commodities markets which allowed the federal de-regulation of ‘credit default swaps’futures which in limited amount would have helped banks offset the risks implied with finance companies like Countrywide, Household Finance etc.–instead by de-regulating them and combined with people handling their evaluation not having the math skills (it requires a minimum of a BS degree in Math) to analyze their impact on a portfolio-they seeped into our financial system along with collateralized debt obligations without careful evaluation to wreak the havoc the Federal Reserve is having to put up with…which we the taxpayers will end up paying for in terms of the national debt.
would have helped banks offset the risks implied with finance companies
–should say ‘would have helped banks offset the risks implied with finanace company based securities in their portfolio’ (collection of investments)
sorry
Wise man, we have McCain and we have Obama that is a one party system.
Yes I seriously think denying the RNC clowns power and money will wake them up or they will be forced to move aside. These people live for money and power and we have the power to deny them both. Unless we do, the GOP will be lost forever. There will be no voice for conservative America for many, many years to come.
With the inevitable depression coming, having a democrat in the oval office isn’t the worst thing that can happen. History will always tag him for the depression of 2008. Obamavilles has a nice ring to it.
On the other hand, surrendering the GOP to a bunch of liberals will have far longer lasting affects.
The time to fight the party take over by liberals is now. This is our only and best opportunity.
#5 – armed revolt is starting to look like the only option. That or leave. I got a job spec for a position back in Europe (lived there in the 90s). Might pursue it – at least the socialists there admit it openly when they run their government. And, they have trains that work.
Seriously, though, McCain is simply a liar. I won’t vote for him or Obama. No more voting for the perceived lesser of two evils when both of them stand for so much that I’m against.
Can you tell I’m just a bit frustrated?
Let me repeat so you McCain haters can understand, I know your attention is seriously deluded so I will be blount. Name one McCain associate that compares to Wright, Phleger, Ayers, Dohrn, Khalidi, Said, Rezko, Al-Sammarae and numerous others in the Chicago/ Middle East corruption machine. Obama meets with hezbollah activists in Detroit behind closed doors and wants to have tea and crumpets with Castro, Chavez, Achmadinejad and Kim Jong Ill. So tell me again how it would be good for America if you traitors or should I say Obama trolls if Obama is elected???
Goats look at the big picture instead of the minutia.
#112, goatsbarnyard….
Want one – Juan Hernandez. He’s my numero uno. And, he’s still on the campaign team.
How about the Keating 5?
I could go on. Virtually every politician at that level has unsavory associates. Frankly, they should all be thrown in jail and we should just start over.
Both candidates will push us towards socialism, albeit slightly different variations. Obama’s will be more Marxist. Both will bankrupt the country.
Further, I really don’t believe the Pentagon will let Obama cut and run. The institutions in DC do matter, witness how State and the CIA essentially ran governmental policy counter to the President.
wise_man,
I don’t mind being taunted a bit and having a post ridiculed. But I politely object to what you did to my post in your #94. All you left was my name and your words. It wasn’t vicious, but I still thought it was over the line in manipulating what someone else said (or just using their name). I’d suggest a little more care in references to the words of others, even in fun.
My previous post should have referred to wise_man at #97.
Lindsey Graham.
Destroying the borders is destroying the country. It doesn’t get more threatening than that. (Besides, Linsdy is a sissy.)
Oh, and Juan Hernandez, of course.
To be fair, Lindsey Graham isn’t as bad as Ayers or the various radical Islamofacists. He’s merely a “useful idiot” for the Marxist Dems. And the people of South Carolina look poised to vote him back in, which says volumes for how low that state has sunk….
I mean, they even have Spurrier coaching their football team.
I at least have a blog that can be referred to for any of you doubting Thomases out there, just check the archives before CPAC for my arguments about McCain. Yes McCain is a moderate Republican but that is still far better than the most liberal socialist on the Democrat side, I would prefer Hillary over Obama, vomit. It really bothers me that some of you so called conservatives would rather see this country become a eurosocialist welfare state than vote for McCain, it won’t bring back Reagan, he is dead. It won’t bring back some sort of conservative enlightenment than can easily reverse the socialist gains once they are enacted, observe social security, medicare, welfare, etc ad infinitum if Obama is elected. I voted for Perot twice and what did it get me two terms of Clinton. Support McCain and all the down ticket Republicans and then we as voters can hold their feet to the fire. Sit out and you have zero right to complain if Obama is elected with veto proof majorities. I am anti-Obama far more than I am pro-McCain
Everyone, and I mean everyone I have spoken to in the last couple of months are either voting for Obama, or not voting at all. I have not met one single person who is voting McCain, not a one, although I do live in NYC so it’s not all that surprising I guess. I can’t see how Obama can lose, considering how many things he has done wrong so far and got away without a scratch.
Not voting for McCain is NOT a vote for Obama. It is a vote for conservatism and America. If you had a choice of voting for Hitler, Idi Amin, or nobody, would voting for nobody make you a traitor? Of course not, so cut the crap with the accusations you RINOs – this is not a wildlife reserve!
So, Republicans didn’t pick Fred because he lacked the “fire in the belly” and picked this guy? I’ll take a serious-minded conservative over a sycophantic, career politician any day.
Sure, McCain served honorably in the Navy. But, what has he done since, besides sitting in Congress for 25+ years? What’s been his goal? If he hasn’t been able to accomplish his goals in the Senate in that much time, why do we think he should have four years as President? Thompson is closer to the Goldwater McCain replaced.
Juan is a volunteer, you can’t kick out volunteers. I don’t see him on TV or giving interviews in support of McCain ot preaching fiery sermons from the pulpit damning America. I would know nothing about him without Michelle bringing it out. Ayers tried to blow up the Pentagon, Khalidi was a PLO money man, as was Said, Auchi was a money man for Saddam, Al-Sammarae is wanted by the Iraqis for embezling millions from them, Rezko is a convicted felon. Juan ain’t even close to that nor is Lindsay Graham.
Wow! lots to comment on. Let’s take it in order:
#26, Bob Barr is a self-serving libertarian, and has railroaded a fellow Georgia Republican named Pat Swindle. He got him on a process crime just like they got Scooter Libby, and as a result, Barr went from DA to Congresman. Barr lost when put up against a true conservative (John Linder) by redistricting.
#36 – I’m an American citizen who is conservative and half-black, half white, 47 years old, just like Obama, yet I wish he would reach out to me.
#56 – Chuck Baldwin seems to be associated with some people I have checked out, and they are barely clinging to the edge of reality. However, maybe being more wide awake, and having more time, I could see him being better than McCain. He would certainly be better than Obama, and seems to believe what he stands for, and Congress would not let him screw things up too badly.
#67 – I feel you, Real Immigrant Chick! I’m right there, because I feel McCain is trying to screw us Cons out of the party, take our title (Reagan foot soldier?), our votes, our money, and then be a maverick as he always has been. Well, how did GWB put it: “Fool me once… Can’t be fooled again”.
Goatsby: If McCain wins, he will want to get things done, and the only way to do that will be to work with the Democrat Congress. So how much Conservative initiative could he really get done? And how much would the GOP fight McCain to get truly Conservative things through, like the real border fence, keeping Gitmo open, drilling in ANWR, and even SCOTUS justices that the Democrats would hate, but we Cons would approve of? More Breyers, and Ginbergs, as someone mentioned earlier in this thread?
At least if we had a Democrat president, the GOP could be the loyal opposition, as opposed to opposing the titular head of their own party.
RealImmigrantChick>>>Thank you -Thank you-Thank you!!! You’ve covered it all—Even the fact that Mc “threw his crippled first wife UNDER THE BUS!”
Mc also called Cindy a C _ _ t in public—A REAL MAN does NOT call his wife nasty names>>>
In fact –name calling only shows me a SMALL MIND!
So you McCain haters would rather have a former muslim with extensive ties to the baltantly corrupt Chicago machine that is friends with domestic terrorists and supports jihadis???
So you idiots even buy into Kos myths to slime McCain, that proves you are Obama trolls.
What? No passionate defense of McCain from Irish Rose or Atheling the Pretendress? Come on, ladies, once more with the anti-abortion defense! After all, McCain probably doesn’t mean it when he lavishes praise on Breyer and Ginsburg, two of the most pro-abortion judges on the SCOTUS. He’s just sucking up to the Clinton voters, much as he’s trying to suck up to Republicans by pretending to be in favor of a secure border, and consumers by pretending to be in favor of drilling off-shore. He wouldn’t lie to you, would he? Well, would he?
At any rate, it doesn’t look like it matters much who wins. When they give amnesty to those 20 million illegals, it should provide enough new Democrat voters to pretty much exile Republicans until the end of the Republic. I don’t know about the rest of the country, but Texas kicked the Mexicans out once, and I guess we’ll have to do it again. This time we won’t join the US again, though. We’ve learned our lesson. Mexicans out the South, liberals out the North. We’ll be happy to sell you oil, though.
The president of the United States needs to be loyal first and foremost to the citizens of the United States.
How hard is that?
I suppose I’ll be the one to ask, since most only complain about the options we have: what now?
We, as conservatives, can:
1) Not vote, hence sealing the deal for Obama.
2) Vote for McCain, which most conservatives don’t feel is right, but is the “lesser of two evils.” As many have said: even the lesser evil is evil.
3) Vote for someone else. We can do this, but this must be a unified effort, or else we’ll, again, seal the deal for Obama.
Recommendation: Write in Fred Thompson. I’m voting my conscience. I cannot vote for Obama, since he’s a socialist. I cannot vote for McCain, who I believe is a moderate Democrat and, really, doesn’t have much of a clue about how to conduct this war, a counterinsurgency with many fronts, as many believe. Thompson is about as conservative as we’re going to find. He’s not perfect, but then again, neither was Reagan, Goldwater, Lincoln, or Moses.
GoatsBY, I’m not saying that. What I am saying is that Obama is not necessarily the only alternative. Also, it is not proven that Obama is a former Muslim, and his very corruption may be the thing that brings him donw before the converntion, or at it.
I still don’t see those feet sticking out from under the house, so I believe Hillary is not through yet. You got people in this comment list pining for Hillary (but not me), you got lots of angry white old ladies clamoring for her, and many Bill Clinton fans still hoping he can get his foot back in the White house door by hook or by crook, so don’t count Hillary out until the delegates are gone to the other side. Then you’ll see the proverbial fall house on top of her, feet twitching briefly, and Obama flying off into the sunset on the real Dem nomination. I bet Hillary is just letting us get to see how vapid, corrupt by association, and how much of an old-fashioned politician Obama really is, before re-offering herself to her party.
And no, I don’t hate McCain, I just don’t want him as POTUS. Nor do I like either of the Democrats; I just wish I had a dog in this fight!
I am waiting for a comparison of McCain associates to those of Obama??? Most of you seem to not have a clue as to how McCain has voted over the years beyond a couple issues you simply echo what others have said. May I remind all of you that your hero Reagan signed the most liberal abortion law in the country as Governor and signed the first amnesty bill as President that has been extended a few times since.
Here’s an item neither McSwish nor 43 are apparently aware of, but delineated by Lou Dobbs on CNN 6/19, America has 10 guest worker programs. One of the biggest, a Bill Gates favorite, is the H1b that robs 65,000 high tech jobs a year from our college graduates.
But the real story behind comprehensive immigration reform is slave labor for the captains of industry.
You may want to consider this.
khan, #19, makes a good point!
I have decided to vote for Ron Paul. That way, I will be able to look myself in the mirror AND do my civic duty.
Obama’s father was Muslim and in their faith that made him a muslim , he can even recite the call to prayer in fluent arabic and calls it the prettiest sound in the world. He is supported by the Farrahkan and the brotherhood and his former pastor is a big supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah. If he is not one now then ha is apostate in their eyes and will have no ability to negotiate with them.
It seems you McCain haters are running low on ammo, So do you prefer Obama with no chance to fight him or McCain with the ability to hold his feet to the fire. A no vote or third party vote will give you Obama, do you want slavery to a socialist state or a voice?
Well, we’ve already had two branches of government abandon the military and the war effort, so why not make it a hat trick, right?
We can do better.
McCain is a crook, a liar, a mean SOB, who treats the Constitution like TP, is intolerant of any opinion other than his own, and is a of course a RINO. 4 years of McCain will feel like we are in the Hanoi Hilton. The dems managed to pick their worst candidate too, BO. The guy is a second rate clone of Bill Clinton, and is actually much worse than McCain. Way to go Black America – or perhaps it is his half white side that is the demonic part of him like his pastor was saying and the black half is just fine? Our country has really screwed up picking these 2 mega losers.
Ron Paul is an idiot
Look, I like Thompson, Forbes, even Bush better than McCain. Rudy too, though I have serious problems with him on social issues (read: abortion and gay marriage). Heck, I’d even put up with Romney’s religion, because at least wiht each of these guys, i believe I know where they stand, and take them at their word. Not so with McCain. Did he learn his lesson about the borders? What else has he been inconsistent on, and what are his principles, aside from his love for the country (which admittedly is a great one)?
Don’t let my slight dyslexsia get in teh way of my true expressions.
BTW, I am a Christian above all other things by whcih I identify myself. As such, i do what I can, try to be the best follower of teh truth that I can, pick the best candidate, and let God take care of teh rest. I trust God above any politician, and above any process, so the country can only go so far under any given POTUS. If I had no hope in the true influence and control of the living God over our political and national future, I woudl not be able to sleep at night. Yet I can, and I am about to go get in bed with my loving wife, and sleep like a log. I hope you all can as well. Don’t let your passions and concerns ruin your lives!
You keep saying the same thing Goat, and we’ve replied, so unless you have something new to say, shut up.
How is McCain a crook? He was completely cleared in the Keating five scandal. I am sensing a bunch of moonbat trolls here trying to stir up trouble with moveon talking points and seminar poster rhetoric
Thanks for that link, Send_Me #134. I’ll read it in depth after I get some sleep. Peace!
Goat now trying to set himself up as the conservative and everyone else as trolls – that’s rich. Pretty clear now exactly what you are Goat.
nyc123, it’s ok. Remember free speech? it includes stuff we don’t agreew with, especially about politics.
Go for it, GoatsBY!
God this country needs Tom Tancredo!
nyc123me, y’all are the ones stuck in some sort of perverse bubble that would rather see the US sink into marxist qucksand under Obama than vote for McCain. No y’all have yet to counter any of my arguements with actual points. McCain’s voting record is prolife, pro-free trade, anti-tax, anti-spend, pro-security, pro-victory in the GWOT, Obama is the opposite. Prove me wrong!
I have a blog you can check out that is linked by my name if you doubt my conservative credentials
It lloks like most of you don’t
Tom Tancredo was the first pol I ever sent money to, great guy.
A few days ago, I got into a discussion with DagneyT, and they said:
After reading through some of these comments on this thread, I’m left to wonder if DagneyT was corrent that the entire conservative community is voting for Sen. McCain.
I’m not convinced that DagneyT was correct in that hypothesis.
Just my observation.
Guy, Its very early in the morning. Please excuse the shortcuts. I’m on my PDA.
We really need to unite on this. If we don’t there are mushheads who will be persuaded by the posts of people like Irish Skunkweed, atheling, and [un]wise_man.
I notice that when I ask “my question”, they scream, & yell, run & hide [from it]. We can use variations, but we each need to work out a simple, blunt question that allows no cover. something along the lines of “my question”, (included at the end), but suited to what each of us can bring to the table.
We then need the tenacity to keep flinging it in their faces. Don’t let yourselves be sidetracked. When I said these people use Alinski’s tactics, I was serious. The only way to fight those tactics here is to not allow ourselves to be deflected from our purpose.
Do I think that we’ll change the minds/hearts of people like Irish Skunkweed, altheling(however its spelled), and [un]wise_man? Not a chance! I’ve dealt with that type too often, I know them. They are fully aware of the validity of our arguments, which is why they refuse to discuss this on a substantive level but resort to emotional adhomimen arguments. If you, for some reason you continue to press w/facts, (as I did w/specifics on firearms & abortion), they’ll label you “bully” also — after all, that was one of the hippy-reject’s favorities in the same situations back in the 60s.
We do it for those whose minds are still open!
Note that honest discussion is the death of their cause. So that is where we’ll have to take the battle. That can only be done if we treat them as they truely are: a particular variety of troll.
So, the proceedure is simple, but effective. When a McCainanite appears, ask your form of “The Question”.

Even though I have disagreements with him, it’s looking more and more that I’ll pull the level for Bob Barr this time. While I consider myself a Libertarian, I have always voted Republican in presidential races. Can’t see it this time. I can’t see myself voting for John McLame.
Post #132 suggests we have issues with McLame over a “couple issues”. Well, for me, his embracing of man-made global warming is a strike against him. His class warfare, and comments about oil company profits is another strike. His little tap dance on immigration is another strike. Add on top of it, I don’t like his demeanor, he’s a very temperamental old crab, with a nasty temper and bad attitude. He’s always crafted himself as a “maverick” against his own party, too, so this is all what we expect of him. Sorry, goatsbarnyard, it’s a bit more than a “couple issues”. It’s basically everything he stands for. About all I can agree with McLame on is his attempt to curtail expansion of the government, and his thoughts on the military and defense.
Where are all the McCain associates that campare to Obama’s? You McCain haters are real vocal till someone stands up to you then you run away like schoolyard bullies. I want to know how McCain is a crook. I want to know how you will reverse Obama’s marxists policies if he gets elected. I want to know how Obama is better than McCain about open borders and giving the illegals all sorts of socialist benefits. You have yet to do that, you can say he is the same but that does not match up with the record. I am waiting all you McCain hater/Obama trolls. What I caught you in your game, hah!
A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama, if you want marxist government vote for a third party or sit on your hands but I don’t want to here any whining when your taxes are tripled and energy really goes through the roof on top of a stock market collapse with most industrial jobs hightailing it out of the country.
I am not a McCainiac I am an anti-communist anti-Obama voter. We have not reversed the policies of Carter yet so how would we reverse eight years of Obama marxism?
I see most of you McCain Haters don’t have a place where I can check your conservative credentials over several years of blog posting like I have. I have three years worth of posts to verify my conservative creds. So you McCain hating Obama trolls can…
I agree with the Goat, McCain isn’t as bad as Obama. Problem is, McCain still sucks big time and there is no way I’m voting for McCain just to get the lesser of two evils.
I don’t knowingly vote for evil, lesser or not.
Then don’t complain when Obama is you president and you taxes are doubled, gas goes to $10 a gallon, energy and medical care are socialized, the ist and 2nd ammendments are wiped out and we live under a marxist regime.
When they misdirect, lie, change the subject, taunt, etc. just note to them, (with as little verbage as possible) that you notice, and refer back to the question. Make it clear that discussion, (at least their inclusion in it) will not proceed forward until they’re dealing honestly.
They use the Left’s tactics, we must fight! But, we must fight differently.
The importance of this self-imposed mission is underscored by the information Ms. Malkin has revieled in this thread. I think this revelation of McCain’s perfidity has to be addressed.
The last point, is the treatment of our hostess by (particularly) those I’ve listed previously. They’re shameful actions in dragging our Hostess’s name through the muck, in “her own house”, as it were, are intolerable. That Ms. Malkin does tolerate it shows her high quality. Please, when these sows start that manure again, lets all just land on them w/both feet.
Thanks for listening, all. I will not be here Friday: I’ve an all-day w/my internist. I will hold up my end though, as soon as I get back.
What we say here may sem inconsequential, but none can see what the seeds we plant into mighty trees may grow…

I am waiting McCain haters, I don’t run away and hide like Obama trolls do like Obama would and does when faced with tough questions. I stand my ground like McCain does.
You are funny goat! You’ve just proved goat’s will eat anything!
BTW, “not guilty” does NOT equal “innocent”.

It is Mrs Malkin, Ms is for unmarried feminists of which Michelle is not a part of. I am a big fan of her untill she launches into one of her unneeded McCain bashing trips. She starts to sound like the Kossacks bashing Bush at that point so I will call her out and the rest of the McCain haters in the process. I DO NOT want Obama anywhere near the Oval Office and McCain is our only option to prevent that from happening.
Yep, I am not a picky eater and moonbat trolls are my favorite dish. Martin you can’t even get Michelle’s honorific title right so why should I believe you are not an Obama troll.
goatsbarnyard,
You are not convinving / converting anyone who disagrees with you on this board. Certainly not by calling them names “idiots”.
Seems like you are afraid that USA might go to hell if Hussain Obama wins.
Reality is that, USA has withstood some bad presidents as well as good ones.
Now, go get a life.
Not one of you McCain haters has explained how letting the marxist Obama become POTUS would be good for the country. I don’t want to see any crap about how it will reignite a another Gingrich revolution. We have not reversed the damage Johnson and Carter did so how will we undo the damage Obama does? I see McCain as at least as not doing more damage and perhaps as stopping some of the profligate spending. He does have an anti-spending voting racord while Obama gets his wife’s hospital millions and she gets a raise.
Yes , I consider all of you that say you won’t vote for McCain as Obama toadies and traitors. Three people including me on this thread have a blog site posted and they all support my position, the rest of you are just anonymous trolls as far as I anm concerned and for all I know Obama trolls stirring up anti-McCain animosity.
Vatudio, I don’t try to convince you Obama toadies or bricks, I am out to convince the fence sitters and people with a modicum of common sense. If you don’t want to vote for McCain that is your right but don’t complain about what an Obama administration brings should it come to pass since you will directly responsible.
I have been debating illegal immigration for many years so you McCain haters are really easy to take apart. I worked to set up a PAC six years ago against illegal immigration so I have a bit of experience debating for and against various aspects of a limited comprehensive reform bill. Where I live, Ca’s central valley, I understand the need for a migrant worker program and the need to control our borders. I just want it to be legal and above board.
McCain will either get votes or he just won’t by how he handles and has handled issues and people….
Given the previous, we need to be more focused on how get a larger number of pols friendly to our views into the immediate next congress, and utilize what allies we have now…
Without that counter-balance of political might, a McCain Presidency or an Obama presidency at their worst will be riding roughshod over conservatism every five seconds….with grievous losses for us conservatives. I believe most of us understand that.
I think that this is what our discussions should focus on, since we’ve all pretty much come up with what side we are coming from by now (myself included), and we are (in the aggregate) generating more heat than light at this point.
Oh and McCain is right, the Spanish/Mexican culture was prevalent in our southwest long before the Anglo/Saxon culture was. I know I prefer mariachi to rap music and carnitas tacos to greasy fried chicken. I like my mexican neighbors far more than my white trash ones. They decorate for Christmas and keep their yards up while my white American neighbor’s yards resemble Fred Samford’s junk pile. I have less problems with them than I do with idiot single issue “Americans” that deny the heritage of the region. I can understand why they dislike republicans that focus on this despite their very conservative beliefs. Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot by disparaging this very important very conservative voting bloc. If you like to be a minority grupng that nothing goes your way vote third party or sit on your hands but don’t complain when Obama is in the White House.
Goatsbaryard
I don’t think critics of illegal immigration are shooting themselves in the foot. Why should the Mexicans get a pass in terms of immigration whereas other groups who want to come here and assimilate as Americans get the roadblocks?
More to the point is it our responsibility to be an employment agency for Mexicans when their so-called government is virtually ineffective in solving their own problems, but loves to bitch at the US who has bailed out their Peso numerous times in the past?
Also if we are bad for wanting limits immigration enforced, when will the Mexican government such as it is stop being so mean at its Southern Border problem…that Michelle Malkin has pointed out the American taxpayer is paying for?
Ridiculous.
Open borders advocacy is a monumental scam
Unless something really wierd happens between now and November, the Left have the White House all wrapped up. Along with a radical SC and congress, all the illegals have to do is be patient and wait. Amnesty will come. I’m sure, too, the illegals will be out “en mass” to vote. The democrats are trying hard to win them over, and the republicans are trying hard to get a portion too. And, like always, the present day laborers will disappear into good jobs, and new day laborers, fresh from the border, will replace them, to await their turn at amnesty.
Just like Admiremydinnerjacket in Iran. Say one thing in public, and then say another in private. McCan’t is the best the RINOs can do? The Repubs are done for, stick a fork in it!
#59:
Barr is not for open borders. Stop the lie.
I’m with Goats on this one. There is no way a BO Presidency, and trifecta of liberalism in government would help the US in ANY way, including the conservative cause. I don’t agree with McCain all of the time, but BO is completely wrong 100% of the time, and it is always to the detriment of the country. I am against open borders too, but I am for national defense, lower taxes, abortion control, alternative energy sources, and, oh yeah, stopping the Marxist cause. Voting third party, or not voting at all, sounds like biting your nose to spite your face, but this time, it is incredibly dangerous.
goatsbarnyard, you are really beginning to chap my ass, friend.
I don’t know what motivates you but this constant chanting of “McCain haters” is extremely BOT-like behavior.
As someone who admits smoothing the way for Clinton by twice voting for the lunatic Perot, you scarcely have the bona fides to berate other people about their decision.
This is a difficult season. Many of us see NO good options…I think even you share that view.
Some of us think the only important thing to be salvaged is the integrity of the conservative movement (by refusing to accept McCain’s leadership). This is a serious position. Others of us see all as lost and feel we have nothing to salvage except the emotional satisfaction of kicking in the teeth the one who did it to us. That’s a human enough reaction, IMO (and I don’t think it does any great harm, given the options).
Some of us see that the issues we most care about would be better represented in DC with a rump delegation of true conservatives than by a GOP delegation led by a President McCain and acting in concert with the Dems. There is a lot of sense to that.
And others, like yourself, feel that keeping the Marxist Obama out of the White House trumps all other considerations. Not an unreasonable position…although it is not where I land.
But why don’t you just lighten the hell up? (Or are you paid to pour on the continuous pro McCain rants?) Some of us want to express our outrage. We sort of need to, although wise_man has absurdly suggested that acting to make oneself “feel good” is somehow not legitimate…a Dem thing. Well, feeling good seems to be one of the few things we have left.
Friend, I will vote any way I please no matter how many times you chant “”HATER HATER HATER.” (And you are right, although tedious in your repetition: I ~do~ hate the bastard.) But, as I say, I will vote however pleases me.
And THEN, when it is over, I will freakin’ complain all I want to. You political bullies have this thing: “If you don’t vote like I say, then you can’t complain.” Stuff it. I am not voting like you say nor am I waiving my right to complain.
So, look, I see that in your core values you are not such a bad guy. But why be such a bully? These are hard times for all conservatives. Stop trying to tell everybody else what to do.
If you think that “debating” is calling the other side haters, then you don’t know your debaters from your blowhards or which you are.
goatsbarnyard you are really a liberal aren’t you? I have read all the post and all i can do is shake my head and wonder if you are not really one of the people sitting in the trees in Berkley.
I have somethings to say to you.
1) We who voice our opinions and doubts about Mccain do so as a freedom of speech. We are allowed to do so. Trying to make us fear Obama makes you no better than an Obama supporter threatening a Hillary support who fails to support Obama now.
2) Calling me an idiot makes you look really ignorant and unable to use proper english. Instead of spending all your night trolling this blog why don’t you try reading a book or news sites so you might learn some new words.
3) It is my vote not yours. I will vote for who i want and no bashing or threats from you or anyone else will make me cave into fear mongering. By you standing up for Mccain the way you have and bashed others who have not makes me believe you agree with everything he stands for. I do not and i will not vote for someone just because they are the lesser of 2 evils.
4) It is my belief if Obama where to be elected that he would never be able to get half of the crap through congress if the republicains learn the word fillibuster.
In conclusion stop calling me a hater or an idiot just because i do not agree with things as you do. Either learn to have an intelligant conversation or be prepared to slammed by us who will take you to task on your remarks. This is not YOUR blog. We are just posters here and do so under a wonderful ladys name. Remember that. We can disagree but do so in an adult manner with polite informative conversation. Not name calling.

What I find most alarming is the closed door meetings both candidates are having. Aren’t we supposed to be learning about the candidates? Why isn’t the press complaining?
We have drifted into some pretty serious family squabbling here, AuntiEm, and you do a service by pointing again to the outrage that is the actual topic of this thread.
I am completely with you in focusing on the “closed” aspect, as MM emphasized in the headline. It was a contemptible affair on many grounds, but it was a complete outrage that he closes the door to do his double-dealing.
And, yes, the media should be going nuts. And you can believe that they ~would~ be going nuts if McCain were not their favorite little maverick. (I guess the media are in a good mood this cycle, a left-liberal GOPer against a far-left Dem. From the MSM point of view, what’s not to like?)
That’s a stretch. So the guy didn’t meet with Graham or Dobson. Big freaking deal. This somehow means he doesn’t have family values??? Not meeting with those guys is actually a plus in my book.
#139:
What was that you said earlier about name calling being a sign of a small mind?
Just to clear up a common misconception: there is no freedom of speech here. This is not a government owned or operated website. The first amendment guarantees our right from the power of government, not from privately owned and operated endeavors. Your speech can be restricted as much as the owner wishes. In fact, some speech and opinions can be banned. Just fyi.
Goat you troll, some of us have a life and have to go sleep at night and then go to work in the morning. If you want answers to your questions, you need go no further than looking through relevant posts and comments on this site – I don’t have time right now to respond over and over to the same silly question, but if you think you’re the only one to ask those questions and now start ranting that you ‘caught’ us, then you’re an even bigger moron than we thought.
pardon me for butting in here but instead of all this sniping back & forth, why doesn’t everyone send their comments directly to McCain? Let HIM know how you feel about his back stabbing. Tell him why you won’t vote for him.
khan,
I do not believe that it is incorrect to refer to “freedom of speech” here.
As you rightly point out, it is not constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech, but MM runs her site with a light hand: she largely ~does~ allow freedom of speech, although she wisely reserves the right to set limits.
I take your point and the distinctions between constitutionally protected speech and speech on private property, in someone’s employ, or using their private facilities (such as this website) certainly is at the discretion of the owner.
OTOH, I think it understates the virtue of a great site like this to over emphasize the fact that free speech is not guaranteed here as though it did not exist. I think we all know where on the web “conservatives” gather under a heavy, repressive hand. There is plenty enough freedom of speech here for me to celebrate it even if it is ultimately subject to the sufferance of our host.
I think Khan and I are usually on the same page, and today seems to be no exception.
After reading goats post say the same thing ad nauseum, and several others…
You really haven’t convinced me why I should vote for your candidate. You’re as shrill and trollish acting as the people who you call trolls because they disagree with you, or think that McCain will just do exactly what we think he will…open the doors for illegals and drive our country into 3rd world status.
Goat, if you can find something other than the same tired arguments you provided above that would in some way sway people to vote for your candidate, then i’d love to hear it. otherwise, you’re not winning converts with your personality or conversation.
And honestly, not meeting with dobbs or graham is a good thing. unless he’s going to me with the dalai lama as well, and other religious leaders, then he’s just pandering otherwise. And you dont have to be christian to have family values or principles.
I can’t speak for others, but I am afraid that my comments would be intercepted by the Secret Service and they would get cranky with me.
(You don’t seriously think McCain reads his hatemail, do you? Actually, we are speaking to him with what we post here. I bet what is said to him here comes a lot closer to getting his attention than anything sent directly to his campaign’s email hole. If he wanted to hear from us, he would not have ~closed~ meetings where he sells us out to the illegals.)
Well, bfore I leave, I note that goat lacks reading comp skills. No wonder he doesn’t understand average Americans.
I said I was heavily abbreviating, you know the ‘…using PDA, shortcuts’ part in the 1st half of the post…
As far as the “Ms/Mrs/Miss” part is concerned, “Ms” is actually a term created in the early 70s by feminists to cover *all 3 forms*. Businesses jumped onboard like wildfire, as it solved a alot of problems in their salutations.
BTW, I have a Bach. in Linguistics, so if you want to debate words, their origins & meanings, (a subbranch of the science that has split off, but has remained, for me, a favorite part…) lets take it to a corner and have at it! Hope you can keep up!
I also remember, as a young feller of 45, getting a scalding from an 18yr. old for calling her “miss”.
So until MS Malkin corrects me, I’ll continue to call her MS. I have the greatest respect for her.
Besides, she’s almost a carbon of my 1st wife, mahal siya sa akin. Rest her soul.
Chew on that, you indisciminate thinker. When you can tell me what I’ve said in Tagolog, then I’ll think of you as someone able to correct me.
Then, we’ll go to Mandarin, after that Japanese, then we can start on the FUN languages, like Romainian, Hungarian, Russian!
Oh, in 3 months, we can do Arabic, Pushti, Basque[sp?]
Did I forget to mention I’m a polyglot?
Sorry, I know goats aren’t the smartest of critters, so *just
for you*: I can read, speak, comprehend many languages…
Reading your responses to people, you seem to have problems w/English. Well, I guess that a goat that types *is* something…

Ignatius, I wasn’t suggesting anyone send him “hate mail”, but surely someone on his staff reads the emails & lets him know what voters think (assuming he cares, LOL). I would be surprised if he reads this site. So how would he know how p*ssed off we all are about what he is doing? We can all rant amongst ouselves but then it is nothing more than “hot air” which doesn’t accomplish much other than venting our spleens.
zorro — two thiumbs up. But then who does, Comrade Obama ?
So what has McAMNESTY to hide? A candidate sneaking around in private meetings with specific groups and races sure seems like he is hiding something?
Sort of like Rep Conyers and his reparations bill, waiting for Comrade Obama to sign. But shhh, quiet is the word until after the election. Did you notice the Democrats did the same thing in 2006, lie to get elected? It’s their stock and trade.
So has McCain picked it up now?
Hey San Fran NA, when you going to reduce gas prices, instead of taxing carbon? Show of hands. who believed her then …
On, BTW, so you know: when typing on my PDA, you’ll see it occasionally drops characters.
Palm’s LifeDrive™ has a crappy browser. Reading is linear: if I want to read something previous I have to reload the page. If I want to see what I commented, after pressing the {OK} button, I have to submit it, as I can’t go back & read the text box and the {preview} button doesn’t even show up. Sometimes, if the PDA was doing something else as I was typing, it will drop those characters after I press the {OK} button.
That is why my posts sometimes have a lot of dropped characters.

Now it’s hit the AP and Drudge
Thanks khan.
Sounds like the Straight Talk Express took a detour.
McCain supporters to begin making excuses for him being a liar in 3….2…1……
babble,
If I can’t send him hate mail, you have ~totally~ undercut any urge I might have to be his pen-pal!
And as to venting spleen, that is very important. I sometimes feel on the edge of a major spleen explosion. It would be ugly with serious collateral damage if there were many people nearby. And it would require a major hazmat effort to clean it up!
But seriously…sure, people need to contact the campaign with their opinions/reactions. Personally, though, I would not put ~a lot~ of effort into it. I am sure that more campaign-savy people than me have insights, but my guess would be that unsolicited incoming is merely tabulated statistically by the lowest of the low interns. McCain may hear some occasional statistical reference to it in a staff meeting. I very much doubt that anyone who actually reads the unsolicited incoming mail ever gets within a country mile of speaking directly to the candidate about what folks are saying…that’s my guess about how it goes.
OTOH, a campaign has to be completely incompetent not to monitor media and internet chatter. So I seriously do believe that what is said here and on other forums and on talk radio is more significant than what is sent directly to the campaign. And especially for those who take care to make substantive arguments: Many people may be influenced here rather than having it seen only by an intern who makes a tick mark on his notepad in the “mad about illegals” column.
El gato es out of el bago………….
Backdoor deals are McCain’s specialty. He should have a guest spot on the Soprano’s to show them how a shakedown is really done. *rolls eyes*
