It’s telling that the liberal left places so much emphasis on appearance. You are not allowed to view their candidates as they really are…they have to ’show’ the appearance of civility, compassion, likability, inclusiveness, and intelligence. They orchestrate questioners, photo ops, and have to continually spin what they “really meant.”

For the life of me, I can’t understand why more people, or should I say, sheeple, can’t see through this ruse? I thought it was natural to have this survival instinct.

This is why it’s SO incredibly important that we actually look into the information that we read.

The writer of the LA Times article that Mrs. Malkin cites says:

A new Pew Research poll of about 1,000 finds that 78% of respondents knew something about Obama’s wife and 26% said it was negative, while only 54% knew something about McCain’s wife and a miniscule 7% said it was negative.

Not surprisingly, a majority of Republicans (54%) and Democrats (65%) feel positively about their candidate’s spouse. The full story is here along with video reports on each woman.

The LA times story links to the CNN article about the First Wives that says this:

In the latest Pew research poll conducted June 13 through 16, 78 percent have heard a least a little bit about the wife of Barack Obama, but up to 26 percent of those said the coverage of Michelle Obama has been mostly negative. In contrast, 54 percent of those surveyed claim to know a little bit about Cindy McCain and of those polled 31 percent say the coverage they have seen has been mostly positive, while only 7 percent felt she has been represented negatively.

Mrs. Malkin, See-Dubya and fellow commenters, notice the difference between the two. The LA Times says that the poll was about how well the ladies are liked. The CNN article actually mentions the COVERAGE.

    There is a huge difference.

Even though I don’t hate Mrs. Obama (and for the record, I don’t hate Mrs. McCain either), even I would respond that the COVERAGE of Mrs. Obama has been negative… especially when one examines the coverage of Mrs. Obama after her “proud of this country” remark.

Now also interesting, straight from the Pew Research article, the article goes on to say this:

According to a recent People-Press survey, voters’ opinions of Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain are largely favorable. However, Mrs. Obama gets slightly higher negative ratings than does Mrs. McCain: 22% of voters had an unfavorable view of Obama last month while 16% had an unfavorable view of McCain.

According to Pew, Mrs. Obama has a higher unfavorable rating. Fair enough.

But it does not say that Mrs. McCain has a higher favorability rating.

OK, so where do we get the Favorable vs. Unfavorable numbers from?

Well ABC just did a poll:

ABC News/Washington Post Poll. June 12-15, 2008. N=1,125 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3. Fieldwork by TNS.

Do you have a favorable or unfavorable impression of Cindy McCain?”

    Favorable 39%
    Unfavorable 25%
    Unsure 36%

“Do you have a favorable or unfavorable impression of Michelle Obama?”

    Favorable 48%
    Unfavorable 29%
    Unsure 23%

So to summerize, Mrs. Obama (at this current time) has higher favorable rating than Mrs. McCain.

The LA Times was totally, totally incorrect for taking the coverage of the women, and taking away that this was the same as favorability ratings.

It’s too bad that the conservatives don’t push harder to get our schools straight. It is here where our children are learning victimhood and it takes them a long time to overcome it and that only happens IF they recognize it and possibly have a strong figure in their life to show them hope and how they can create it for themselves.
