1bopooh009.jpgIn response to Barack Obama’s foreign policy adviser endorsing Winnie the Pooh as a “fundamental text on national security” this week (yes, it’s true), readers and bloggers are having brutal fun with Photoshop. No doubt Obama’s minions will find some way to characterize this well-deserved mockery as a RACIST! DISTRACTION! that’s diverting us from REAL ISSUES! And as Michelle O would no doubt grumble, this image collection doesn’t help her kids.

To quote Eeyore: “No matter.”

Enjoy (and be sure to put down beverages before viewing):

Michelle Obama proudly told the women on The View yesterday that “kids are drawn to Barack.” With a platform of cartoon diplomacy stuck in a world of make-believe, Obama’s got the preschool-level voting bloc all locked up. Woo-hoo. Fist bumps!

More! Via Six Meat Buffet, this is not the Pooh Obama knew…

And from commenter Tennessee Dave, Pooh-isms tailor-made for Obama:

I have a list of words of wisdom from Winnie the Pooh and three of them seem to fit Obama:

1. “Those who are clever, who have a brain, never understand anything.”

2. “When you are a Bear of very little brain and you think of things, you find sometimes that a thing which seems very
thing-ish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.”

3. “Don’t underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along and not bothering.”

BTW, if true, I guess I should feel bad that 25 al Qaeda and Taliban killers died during interogation. But considering they’d be enjoying legal protections not offered to prisoners of war who followed the rules of war, and might well be set free because a trial could reveal sources and methods, and return to the battlefield in Afghanistan to fight US troops again, I just can’t get as worked up as you seem to be.

You think Obama is trivial too?!?

    1. Obama broke a promise and opted out of the public financing system. An actually bad thing — unlike the faux faults (fist bump!) MM covers.

Wow! The first Obama lie that got to you. Now try to catch up on all the rest, and you will be as disillusioned as we are with his sham candidacy.

    2

. Larry Wilkerson (Colin Powell’s #2) said that nearly 200 detainees died in US custody and over 25 of those deaths were declared homicides by military investigators.

I wonder how many innocent Iraqi or Afghani deaths they may have been responsible for (you know, the ones you blame our military for)? At least they won’t be clogging up our courts. And, as mentioned above, why do you assume that the homicides were committed by our troops? That is a fundamental flaw in both your reasoning and your patriotism.

And all the while, MM and co. are making fun of Pooh bear.

No, we are making fun of the fact that Obama has about the same level of understanding of domestic and foreign affairs as Winnie the Pooh. Sorry, Winnie, for the unfavorable comparison.

By the way, you sound a little personally offended by the fact that someone would “make fun of Pooh.” Have we touched a nerve?

Wow, this has got to be the oddest use of Winnie the Pooh I have ever witnessed. I do remember using Pooh and the other characters in the 100-acre wood as objects for diagnosis while studying psychopathology. Then there was a wonderful article published in a journal about that very thing. Pooh helps with diagnosing mental disorders (or teaching students who to recognize patterns and apply DSM definitions).

I just don’t see the application for National Security. Well, actually if you combine the whole mental illness, diagnosis, etc. then maybe there is a connection.

    Here’s a small snippet of Pooh’s diagnosis:

Pooh is also clearly described as having Very Little Brain. We could not confidently diagnose microcephaly, however, as we do not know whether standards exist for the head circumference of the brown bear. The cause of Pooh’s poor brain growth may be found in the stories themselves. Early on we see Pooh being dragged downstairs bump, bump, bump, on the back of his head. Could his later cognitive struggles be the result of a type of Shaken Bear Syndrome?

I takes a real liberal Rip Van D!ckhole to call a story “new” that was reported three years ago. The meticulous Heather MacDonald told the story behind the headlines in June 2005. How’d you miss that, oaf lgm?

Well, no, most of those deaths were in military self-defense or were accidental, and most occurred at the point of capture — razor close to the heat of battle, if technically considered “in detention.” I don’t know where Friedman comes up with his “over 100” number. As of March 16, the Army was reporting 68 detainee deaths. Of those, 24 were confirmed or suspected criminal homicides, but again, a full 15 of those homicides occurred at point of capture in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Let’s get the players straight. Larry Wilkerson is a bitter, has-been who now advocates Bush’s impeachment. That puts him on the same credibility plane as Dennis Kucinich. You may be closer to the truth than you have ever been when you describe him as “State Department #2.”

The #2 at the State Department knows as much about what happened on Afghan battlefields as the #2s at Interior, Health & Human Services, Commerce or Labor.

You fail to address the fact that the new developments you crowed about are nothing more than a rehash of numbers first reported by Thomas Friedman in 2005 and clarified by Heather McDonald a few months later.

    It’s an old, old story.

I know some say the “l” in lgm stands for little. I say it stands for “lazy.”

Obviously Steve456 is a one-off troll registration name. Such lonely drive-by psycho nutcases burn names and get booted; sadly, it’s their sole purpose in life.

Of course, the great thing here is the fact that Obama wants to use “Winnie The Pooh” as his State Department’s rule/guidebook has left even the most goofy of Democrats embarassed beyond belief. Hence their bizarre outrage; none can explain, much less justify, this insane Pooh decision by Obama.

Can you blame them? If you had to come up with an excuse for Obama’s “Winnie The Pooh”-based worldview/plans, you just couldn’t. Only an insane or incredibly naive (not mutually exclusive conditions) person could.

So in such a case, the embarrassed Democrats can only attack the messenger which, as we have clearly seen here, is all they got re: Obama’s fairytale worldview. The Pooh-based policy worldview is massively stupid, even for a dim bulb like Obama. Who could defend it?
