Spike Lee on Obama: There’s “gonna be a real Chocolate City!”
Still bitter from his spanking at the hands of Clint Eastwood (background here), conspiracy nut and race-monger Spike Lee is clinging to Barack Obama for revenge.
He told a film festival crowd this week that he has gathered 1,000 hours of footage of his Obamessiah on the campaign trail and will produce a documentary about the candidate. The dour director instantly cheered up. Via SilverDocs, Lee gloats:
Discussing his Hurricane Katrina epic When the Levees Broke, Lee referenced the current flooding in the midwest and said, “The infrastructure of this country is crumbling, and money’s going elsewhere.” He paused, then at quadruple the volume: “That’s gonna change, though…gonna be a real Chocolate City!” He went on to drop the news that his longtime editor Sam Pollard has been filming Obama throughout the primary season and has already captured 1,000 hours of footage for a documentary being produced by Edward Norton. When Kennedy began a question with the phrase, “If Obama’s gonna become president…”, Lee interrupted. “There is no if! It changes everything…it’s gonna be Before Obama, and After Obama. And I’m gonna be at that inauguration, too.”
Lee, who believes “someone’s” paying Jeremiah Wright to diss Obama, will be an honored guest at the Democrat National Convention and takes credit for the Obamas’ marriage.
Spike Lee: Soon to be Obama’s NEA chairman in the new Chocolate City?
Shudder.

Speaking of race conspiracies, Michelle Obama channels Spike and panders to racial paranoia. See here and here.

Spike Lee, Spike Lee…I swear that I’ve heard that name before.
Guess I’m not too current on B-list folks as I should be.
Spike Lee needs to kindly STFU and go
back to making moviesto a deep part of Harlem and retire.lol, keep these baffoons out there, every week it’s a new dipstick causing more harm than good for Odumbo. I love it.
Spike Lee must be smoking Prozac.
Spike Lee is the entertainment industry’s version of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton all rolled into one … he makes nothing but race-baiting statements and has yet to make a movie that was not racially biased … he is the epitome of a racist …
I guess after Clint gave Spike a major ‘Ego Over-inflation Alert’ he’s been sore. So now he’s going to work towards making the US a ‘chocolate city’ by supporting Obama. I hope Clint or someone like him points out to old Spike that the words ‘chocolate city’ never were uttered by Dr. M.L.King and that Dr. King was working towards the civil rights movement ignoring skin color and towards quality of character. …….. Oh, now I see the real problem……old Spike doesn’t have any quality of character.
Maybe they can find a place for Ray “schoolbus” Nagin in this new “chocolate” city.
Wow! Let’s see now, the Libs have certainly got a lock on the single issue voters.
The Chocolate City “reverse” racists, the promiscuous queers, the butt ugly feminazis, and the “sky is falling” greenie idiots.
Come to think of it, that about sums up the Democrat platform as well.
The party of Hope and change, my ass.
I agree with AJ. Keep talking, Spike “We Wuz Robbed” Lee. And bring more of your friends to do the same. Let the real Obama spokesmen come out of hiding.
Let’s be accurate now, Cameron.
“spike” being named after a dog has made him bitter.
Yeah. Don’t tell me Obama and his followers don’t have a messiah complex.
Skip ahead to 2012 “AO” – I can only imagine. Welcome to the People’s Republic of America.
Cameron
You’re probably just confusing “Spikes” … I prefer Spike Jones myself … (I know … showing my age again …
)
Who left the
BETinsane asylum’s gate open? Thanks for the clarifications. Some day I’ll be up to date on all of this. Really.
Since when has Spike Lee EVER been relevant or rational?
Clear thinking people ignore him and don’t waste the time.
Oh Lord these Leftist clowns are weird. Does this cow Joy Behar think she will do well with a Nation of Islam supported, friend of the PLO, closet mohammadan President?
Chocolate City! says all that needs to be said about Spike Lee.
“Chocolate City”. Disgusting.
Just part of that self-righteous hip crowd which has helped geld the self-esteem and narrowed the world-view of countless black Americans from mainstreaming and socially diversifying by pigeon-holing everyone born black as being born into a race-based “culture.” A lot of good that’s been!
To see how these flood victims are getting it together dealing with their plight without blaming anyone vs. the helpless Bush-blaming whines of ignorance and social dependency in New Orleans…
Disgusting.

Joy misses the point slightly, AZ. We wouldnt HAVE to pay Wright.
All we have to do is ask, and he spews.
Spike Lee?
That feckless, talentless, black supremacy dwarf is still around?
This is actually good news, since it adds to the ever lengthening list of crackpots, dictators, black supremacists, outright racists, lefty Marxist/socialist/communist nutcases that are coming out of the woodwork to support Obama.
That’s the way to court the average America.
Paging Willie Wonka, paging Willie Wonka!!!!!!
So we should model the US after, oh, say Philadelphia? That’s another top end chocolate city is it not? Spike Lee is just another in a long line of race hustlers, Comrade Obama is just the latest, he speaks good but can’t think — Should have studied something other than speaking and voice inflection while at Harvard.
The Democrat platform has three legs, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes.
Why do I get the feeling that Mr. Shelton Jackson Lee is hoping that if Baroque Obozo is elected he will name Mr Lee Secretary of Shuck & Jive?
Spike Lee should shut his face and do what he do best, directing Nike commercials.
Even if ‘The Amazing Barry’ is elected, it won’t be enough.
There will still be those who proclaim: “We’ve come a lonnnnnnnnng way! But we’ve still got a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng way to go!”
There will always be claims of ‘institutionalized racism’, and ‘disenfranchisement’.
Always.
Despite the fact that we would now have a black President……..it still won’t be enough.
It will never – EVER – be enough.
Lee ought to provide as much a boost to the campaign as Algore does.
For John McCain.
Spike Lee on Obama: “It’s gotta be the shoes!”
Let’s see, spanked by Clint Eastwood, and now his L.A. Lakers were so spanked by the BOSTON CELTICS! (Yay!), no wonder Spike is so irritable. I suggest Spike watch a few hours of “Chocolate Rain” on Youtube. That ought to cheer him up.
I thought Spike’s Malcolm X movie was pretty good. Other than that, he seems out of touch. His documentary on Katrina was quite light on blaming Nagin and the Gov. of Louisana.
Maybe Spike will have to give up his Knicks floor seats, once Obama enacts his tax policies. After all Spike is rich. Its the rich people that Obama blames for all the problems.
Clearly, racism is alive and growing in America. But the fact that the MSM is avoiding is that it is the blacks who are racist.
Obviously, with so many (demented) ‘whiteys’ voting for B-Hussein, the racism is not on ‘whitey’s’ part.
But with even black conservatives saying they may vote for the Obamessiah BECAUSE HE IS (half) BLACK and the over 90% of blacks supporting this sophomoronic racist is incontrovertible evidence that the racism in the USA is on the part of blacks, not whites.
Spike Lee is a perfect example why words such as nigger should not be removed from the vernacular.
You know, just when you think this GREAT COUNTRY has finally turned the corner on race relations, you get CLOWNS like WRIGHT , NAGIN and good old SPIKE LEE. than you get MSM reporting that 90% of BLACK VOTERS are voting OBAMA. Makes one wonder what the results will be if they don’t get their way??? If I hated this GREAT COUNTRY as much as these CLOWNS do, I would pick a better place to live, and move there… Yet, you and I both know there is no BETTER PLACE on this EARTH better then the GOOD OL’ US of A!!
Spike Lee is no Z-list or B-list. His last movie, Inside Man, made a mint.
Do the Right Thing remains one of the greatest American movies of the past 25 years.
And, since Mrs. Malkin gives Obama a hard time for the idiots who write anti-Semitic posts on his website, I give you bit_boy. If Mrs. Malkin held herself to the same standard that she held Mr. Obama, then she would have to concede that it’s racists who are using her website and supporting her.
That’s really going to help bring in the OTB (Other Than Black) voters for Barry O…
I actually feel bad for people like old spike. I mean he actually believes this crap. So if Obami gets elected does that mean all the white folk go away? What is it that he means?
Yo Spike, sup’ homey dog ? He seems to have the same problem as Slick Willy, when hes out of the headlines for too long , he comes out and sticks his foot in his mouth so everyone won’t forget about him. Hes another race baiting hack. Nothing more. Now chill G-dog, see what ahm sayin’ ? Word !
pueblo1032,
I concur. But keeping racism alive and well – is their bread and butter. And unfortunately the “culture” that permeates from the black community embraces these racist ideals. I escaped the “hood” and I can tell you there isn’t anything glamorous about it. I don’t see how or why anyone could defend it and still sleep at night.
Wright keeps talking because all the people who make money exploiting the grievances of the African-American community will have a much harder time selling “the man is oppressing you” when the man is an ultra-liberal African-American.
I find it incredible how alive it actually is from living here… hearing white hillbillies talk about “niggers” in casual conversation is quite shocking.
I’m also amazed how separate people live their lives… different churches for different races… different areas… kind of sad, really…
But what can you do when you have idiots like Spike Lee who say such things and energise racism in the black community too?

Good morning, Rusty!
Never heard of it, but that could just be circumstances. Not a fan though.
Purely subjective, and I think I could safely disagree.
No argument on the bit_boy comment (I agree), but the rest of the commentary seems particularly and primarily focussed on a continuing frustration with the successful careers of race baiters like Sharpton, and the fact that any criticism of Obama is twisted into a racial attack.
If whites do not vote for Obama for no other reason than he is black (well, half anyway), it is no more or less racist than blacks that vote for him because he is black.
As for me, I will vote for the man (or woman) that will do the best job, regardless of melanin content, or age, or sex. And no, I am not thrilled by McCain, but he has a record of “achievement” that you can look up. The more I look into Obama, the less impressed I get. Great oratory is a major qualification for the Wrights of the world, not quite so much for presidents (although it helps).
Dims, I agree, but MM has in the past criticized Senator Obama’s website for featuring anti-Semitic material. This despite the fact that his website features similar language to this:
So, by her own reasoning, MM is now a racist because of what bit_boy said?
She has created a standard that she has no hope of living up to in order to make a cheap shot on Obama.
Most inappropriate. If the “n” word is the only thing you can think of in regards to Spike Lee, than you do see his pigmentation as his main flaw.
On the one hand, the “n” word is just a mispronunciation of the Spanish word “Negro”, meaning black, but since it has such perjorative connotations, and tends to mark the user of the word as ignorant and racist, it should not be used.
Now, Spike clearly has a problem with white people, seems to suffer from a Napoleon (small man) complex, and hasn’t made a decent movie in almost two decades.
Robert Byrd can talk about white n******s all he wants, and claim it isn’t racism, but from the words original useage, it is a racist word.
BTW, I doubt the site owners appreciate that sentiment, or the shadow of racism it casts over all the posters here.
Rusty said:
Insideman was OK, it was more of a porno flic than anything else. Spike Lee incites racial tension and hate begets hate.
In May of 1999 The New York Post reported that Lee said of National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston, “Shoot him with a .44 Bulldog.” Lee contended, “I intended it as ironic, as a joke to show how violence begets more violence,” Lee said Thursday.
I think what bit_boy wrote is simply off the hook. That doesn’t make me a racist because I’m participating on the same thread dude.
The antisemitism found at the ‘Socialists for Obama’ portion of the MyBO page was up for many days. Bit Boy will be deleted as soon as Mrs. Malkin or See-Dubya wake up and log on…
If they are anywhere but the West Coast, they are up already…
I haven’t seen bit boy around either. He could be a Moby…
Whaaaa? There was no nudity or sex in Inside Man? I’ve taken some film genre courses and I don’t see how porno would apply.
Unless you’re making a joke about the title. In that case, good one I guess?
I think that in both cases, the preponderance of evidence should prevail.
Which is, of course, your point.
Is that right? Did it make your personal list, is that where this information comes from?
Why are you defending Lee anyway? He has also been accused of anti-semitism.
I don’t like racial name calling from any group. It is unnecessary to get a point across, but you can surely see #44, that most of the racial epithets come from blacks themselves.
I am soooooo offended by the term chocolate city that I want to spit. Talk about racist.
Good call Dimsdale #40.
I don’t like Spike Lee very much, but his talent as a director is undeniable. And Do the Right Thing really is a masterpiece. Obviously that’s only my opinion, but the film was critically acclaimed and has aged well.
As for Chocolate City being so offensive that it makes people want to spit…it’s offensive to me as a DC resident. I live in the real Chocolate City. I have no time for imposters.
HUH?

Also, MM is not for running for political office, so the comments left on her blog are not an analogous expression of her personal opinions or beliefs, as those left standing Obama ‘08 may be construed to be, but are there to stimulate public discourse and debate – to expose the distasteful side of humanity and attempt to rid it from society.
The same may not be said of the ugly comments left on Obama ‘08.
I think Spike Lee is an obnoxious clown, but I actually liked ‘Do the Right Thing’, although my symapthies were for the pizza shop owner who was working for a living, and not the obnoxious malcontent with the boom box.
What will Spike title his documentary? Triumph of the Will? So Obama’s Leni Riefenstahl has stepped forward. BFD.
Sausage:
I feel badly that your Victorian sensibilities have been offended. Just curious about one thing: are you offended only when “white hillbillies” say “nigger”? Or are you also offended when rappers use the term?
Rusty:
I’d feel badly that your Victorian sensibilities have been offended, but after reading about your adventure in Rock Creek Park, I’m loathe to use your name and “sensibilities” in the same sentence. Your faux offense to bitboy’s comment is amusing considering your gratuitous use of the c-word on your blog.
After discounting for style, bitboy and sausage make the same argument: it’s racists like Spike Lee that enable the survival of racist sentiments. Interesting thesis.
God help me, but I dislike big-mouth little Spike. He truly hates white people.
On the other hand, if you read one of the links far enough, you saw that he has the Clintons *exactly* nailed. Exactly. For a supposedly smart guy, it sure took him long enough to get it.
it appears that way from the way the dem’s behaved during there primary.
whats more shocking is someones offence over the use of the word “niggers” and turn around and call the a white hillbilly.
I’ve never been to an all white or all black church…but yes, sad.
we see what people like you do!
Correction Rev Jim. Spike only hates white people that don’t have breasts. Hes a hypocrite.
DH,D, my Victorian sensibilities? Are you that stupid? It is not Victorian or prudish to point out when someone uses the most offensive and hateful word in our language in a perjorative way.
I have used the “c-word” twice. Probably shouldn’t have. But if you think that’s even close to the same league as the word bit_boy is using, then you are incredibly out of touch. If you think an emergency poop in the woods is the same as calling someone that word, then you are hopeless.
I could probably go on for a while about this. Radio Raheem wasn’t the malcontent. He was a follower who was convinced he was doing the right thing. It was Buggin’ Out who was the malcontent. His quixotic attempts to force superficial changes at Sal’s were the problem. The statement here is clear. If people as smart as Buggin’ Out were as dedicated to real change as they were to making waves, then the black community would be better off. Surely that’s a lesson that would be appreciated by all the Jesse haters out there.
As for Sal, he claimed to love the neighborhood. But when push came to shove, he was using the same racist language as his hateful son. He needed to be punished in some way.
Does anyone think that “Do the Right Thing.” is the perfect synopsis of Spike Lee’s, and Rev. Wright’s, (and the Obama’s??) white-hating culture?
Sure, it’s just a movie. Just a movie whose mob riot forshadowed the L.A. riots of 1992.
In the movie, the white people are racist because they didn’t put African-Americans pictures on their restaurant wall. Also, because they tried to prevent a customer from disturbing the peace in his restaurant with his “boom box” (sorry for the 80’s lingo there)
In the movie, the police are brutal and oppressive. F tha police. Remember?
In the movie, these two factors plus mitigating factors like the heat justify a race riot.
The white store owner lost everything he had worked hard for. Why? Because it was a long hot summer. Because he believed not having pictures of black folk on the walls was not racist. Because he involved the police when thugs took over his restaurant. Because he was “out-of-place” in a black area of town. To Spike, these are legitimate and justfiable reasons.
What do you think Spike means by “Do the Right Thing”?
Spike has tried to make white-hating revenge violence chic. What do you think Obama’s election means to him? Soaring Hope and Lofty Change or a chance to turn the tables on The Man?
I just read Rusty’s post.
I think I’m going to re-read 1984 and go curl up in the fetal position now. . .
Spike Lee said:
For those so preoccupied with race like Spike Lee, it will change nothing because the problem is inside them, not outside them. If Lee is happier seeing people with black skin than white skin, he’s got a big problem.
Putting blacks in high places to cure prejudice is the same mindset as beating your wife. Say you don’t get along with your wife, so you beat her, as if that’s going to change things, or change her. Sorry, you can’t change anyone by beating them. The one person you can change is yourself.
Point to me one person that will no longer be a bigot if we put Obama in the White House. Spike Lee? No, sorry. It won’t do a thing for his bigotry. You can try to beat America over the head with a black President, but America will only change its heart on its own, if it wants to. And frankly, I think America’s heart is pretty much in the right place now. There will always be the bigots like Spike Lee. Not much we can do about that.
You’re an eloquent little fellow aren’t you. Oblivious and self-centered too.
I’m surprised you missed this post at HuffPo. You’ll have to self-educate as I have no experience with “special needs” kids.
Bro Spike’s Chocolate City brings to mind two floods. One in the first Chocolate City of Welfare and Layabouts and the floods hitting Illinois and Iowa. Perhaps I missed it but in Illinois and Iowa I did not see large numbers of people sitting on their butts saying ’save me’. And perhaps I missed seeing the people of the Chocolate City filling sandbags and helping their neighbors. Perhaps Chocolate City Lee could make a documentry about that. Perhaps he could get Clint Eastwood to help.
As for me and mine – I am boycotting Chocolate cake until he does.
I think someone on the site already stated that if Barry gets elected, the whole race inequality issue will lose all of its steam and all of the race hustlers will have to go find actual jobs. Now ain’t that a pisser ?
I believe that policy is called trickle-down reparations. And given that Dohbama is biracial–not black–it’s only a halfway measure.
Arizona,
You are right. I bet people from Iowa and Illinois went down to New Orleans 100:1 over people from N.O. going up there to help out in their time of need.
Sorry if this is outre-thread a bitm but there is a major DISCONNECt among conservatives (and i have to include our much-respected and loved webmistress I fear) who can read (or write) the above piece and also continue with the constant McCain bashing. President Obama is simply unacceptable, no?
In response to post #2.
Spike Lee is from Brooklyn, moron, not Harlem! As for his movies, I like them because even if I disagree with his premise or conclusions,(and I have many times)I have to do some thinking as opposed to most of the idiotic movies that are put out these days.
Mind your manners, jwm. bloghooligan never said Spike Lee was from Harlem. Read…the…sentence.
Clearly Spike sees himself as the
“Minister of Truth”
in the upcoming uuuubammmaaaaa administration/takeover.
Oh yeah, ‘thinking’ movies…because Altman, Hitchcock, Huston, Eastwood, et al never made any movies that made you think.
There are MANY black people whom one could legitimately admire: Colin Powel rose from a ghetto to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of State, Condi Rice was came from a Mississippi tobacco farm to become Secretary of State. But, they worked for a Republican President so that doesn’t count.
George Washington Carver is responsible for the entire peanut industry in the US. Since I’m addicted to peanut butter I wake up every morning and say “Hail Mr. Carver”.
There’s also Ray Charles, and Bo Diddley who both overcame hardship to become the best at what they do.
Charles S. Dutton was in prison for murder, and turned his life around.
James Earl Jones overcame poverty and stuttering to become one of Hollywoods most famous voices.
There are others whom I can’t remember their names. A black man invented the gas mask. A black doctor discovered a way to preserve blood. A black doctor first cut into the adominal cavity.
With so many legitmate role models who overcame hardship without sitting around crying about how things are so unfair and someone owes me, why are whiners held up as role models?
As Colin Powel said, “Don’t make being black your problem, make it someone elses problem.”
Hey, don’t be dissin the Chocolate City folks. Why, they’d be up in Iowa and Illinois right now, but they be still waitin’ for those busses to be pickin’ ‘em up. : )
Spike Lee is one of those politically correct guys that the New York Times and the three networks worship. Mr. Lee views any negative reviews of his movies as racist. He has so intimidated movie critics and network correspondents that he gets an adoring response to even the worst movies that he makes. And Mr. Lee has been openly antiSemitic in his movies. His movie “Mo Betta Blues” was a virtual fountain of antiSemitism. He had two despicable characters named “Mo and Josh Flatbush” so that Mr. Lee could telegraph to his audience that the villains were Jewish. These two characters, who were given Jewish names from 50 years ago, also spoke in nasal tones with a stereotypical Brooklyn accent. They were money grubbers who sucked up all the money that Black jazz musicians earned. Siskel and Ebert, two liberal movie critics, both decided that what Lee did was antiSemitic. The late Gene Siskel pointed out that Lee allowed no genuinely decent emotions or traits from the characters Mo and Josh Flatbush. So who would come to Lee’s immediate defense? You probably guessed it already! Yep, it was indeed the New York Times. The New York Times handed Lee the entire oped page to respond to his critics and Lee went on ad nauseum about racism in the movie industry. But because Lee is a media darling, no criticism of Lee is allowed.
This is about the only reason I could even think of supporting mcamnesty. BHO will surround himself with these victim oriented race mongers with the intent of putting a jack boot on the throat of all anglos. Affirmative action will move from a “level the playing field” ideology (which I have never understood how reverse racism eleiminates racism) to “correction of past wrongs” (really perceived wrongs). America is now exactly where many of our past leaders warned us of going. A nation of squabbling minorites. There is a bloc, a powerful lobbying group, for every group all vying for special treatment: african americans, mexican americans, hispanic americans, asian americans, mulsim americans, women, gays, lesbians, handi-capped, elderly americans, jewish americans, immigrants, business, etc. And each group only cares about furthering their interests. The interests of America and society are secondary. The list of special interest groups grows each year as well, so there is littel chance the course will reverse itself. Depressing, but I don’t see how the US will maintain the current system for another 50 years. Chaos is all that can follow competing factions for limited and dwindling resources.
I just read the two links at the bottom of MM’s piece to Michelle O’s work as a hospital administrator as reported by the NY Times:
My question is, have we taken a good look at decisions made in the past careers of Michelle O, or Obama himself as a “community organizer”? Whatever he did as a community organizer, he’s bound to do more of the same as Prez of the US. I’m sure if there’s anything controversial about it he’ll spin it like he spun his Trinity Church and Rev. Wright Sunday service as a time of good music and quiet, prayerful reflection. Fine. Let’s hear it. McCain’s 25 year legislative history is well-known. What was Obama doing as a “community organizer”? It sounds like it had a lot of political overtones. What kind of political decisions did he make at that time?
Anything goes on this site. No slur or insult is off limits. MM has long decided to go the way of Kos and Huffington Post. Rick Moran and MM have let stuff slide. When in Rome….. You just gotta live with it Rusty. Bit-boy is free to say whatever he wants, but I just hope he has the courage to try it out in pubic, particularly on Martin Luther King(Blvd, Ave. St.) Hopefully bitch-boy isn’t just an all keyboard talk.
I agree with this statement. Spike Lee’s relevance has long past expired, and trying to get noticed by picking at the legendary Clint Eastwood backfired horribly. Even in his mid 70’s I’m sure Clint could take Spike in a fight:)) Go away Spike Lee, and start making good movies again, if you can.
There will be no “Chocolate City” with Obama-he’s half white; it’ll be a “Caramel City”.
I can’t understand why white people think that blacks like Spike Lee and the Obamas hate whites.
Can’t you feel the love?
Unbelievable…
“Chocolate City,” eh? Me thinks Spike took George Clinton’s words a little to seriously.
HA! “One nation under a groooove…”
Maybe we need more definition here. Are we talking White chocolate, Milk chocolate, Dark chocolate, Semi-dark chocolate, Semi-sweet chocolate, Bittersweet chocolate or Unsweetened chocolate?
Does this so-called ‘Chocolate City’ have nuts in it?
And this chocolate we are speaking of.. are we also refering to the Cocoa Solids, the cocoa beans and/or the Cocoa Butter? Or are we just refering to the end product.
And is this ‘Chocolate City’ baked or is it still in the bowl ready to be poured.
Are we allowed to add butterscotch chips in also?
Fudge with carmel nuget center?
Would this “documentary” be considered a campaign contribution in excess of the legal limit?
At least 3 so far as I can tell.
re: the linked FOX story.
HA HA HA. Man, is Spike Lee a dumb-a//. The beloved Corps was not fully integrated until 1948. Blacks did not fight in the combat infantry until after WWII. Seeing as how Clint Eastwood made a movie about the *combat* on Iwo, it wouldn’t make sense to have Black actors since there were no black grunts at the time. “Student of history” says he – yeah, an “f” student.
#86 sclawstudent.
If I remember correctly, the only black warriors in WW2 were the Tuskegee Airmen. The rest of the black people were relegated to supporting positions such as cooks, etc.
So Mr. Eastwood could have shown black people as cooks and been historically correct. But, what does being historically correct have to do with anything. We’re talking about POLITICAL correctness here!
A hell of a group of P51 pilots. If I remember correctly, they never lost a bomber??
I prefer White Chocolate.
Sorry, sambo. That’s an urban legend. Doesn’t detract an iota from their record though.
Another whining hypocrite racist from the black community…wow I’m shocked…yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn….
Hmmmm…although far fetched — this idea that “the blacks” (I don’t want to lose any of the original eloquence of your comment, so I’m quoting directly) are the only racists in America, and whites their only victims — I considered the idea for a second, until I stumbled upon this:
I guess I beg to differ. But clearly, you enjoy using that word — enough to advocate for its continued usage (we all have our causes we believe in. Yours is the preservation of racial slurs, apparently.). So have at it. Just don’t talk about all the “racist blacks” in the same breath, because the irony is overwhelming. Especially for anyone who reads this blog with any regularity, and knows this kind of thing happens fairly often here.
Absolutely. Say what you want about Kos and Huffington, at least the comments sections aren’t rife with racist slurs. I’ve seen this time and time again here. The shock value’s been lost, but it never ceases to prove exactly how some people really think.
And frankly, I appreciate the honesty.
Coming here some days really makes me appreciate how many vastly different kinds of people I know and love, and what the alternative is. It’s a reminder of what exists beyond the thoughtful, cultured, open-minded cosmopolitan bubbles some of us — like me — choose to live in.
And boy is it ever scary.
Spike understands how to get publicity. And his good fortune is that when he says something outrageous, it gets publicized.
He doesn’t always mean what he says – as they said in the Godfather movie “It’s business, not personal.”
His children go to a prestigious NYC private school in Riverdale, NY, with tuition of $30-35,000 per kid per year. (His wife doesn’t care, she wants the best education that they can afford. BTW, she’s a very nice person, above the politics that makes her husband $$$)
Spike has Jews working for him on his productions. But I did see him on Charlie Rose stating that he believed that Jewish doctors were spreading AIDS throughout the black community. (Business, not personal. He had an audience to reach, and an image to maintain.)
There is evidence of other prejudices – a producer who worked on his commercials for years wasn’t hired after her baby was born. (Business – he apparently didn’t want to worry about her missing work if the child was sick)
Like everyone else in Hollywood, Spike’s not above telling a “tall tale” if it helps sell his movie. He was all over the press stating that the great African American actors all pitched in to finance Malcom X, when in reality they gave a token few percent, if that much, and the rest came from the Completion Bond Company – you can look it up if you want. (Business – it was a good story that helped with the promotion.)
With regard to “Do the Right Thing” here’s some info that will help those of you revisiting the film, and understand Spike a bit more.
In Brooklyn,(allow me to exaggerate a bit), everybody has a ‘big mouth’ and uses it a lot. A ‘big mouth’ doesn’t mean you have a big fist, a big knife, or a big gun. People in Brooklyn understand this. They react to the stress of the city by talking big.
And maybe Brooklyn has it right – it’s OK to talk big. In Brooklyn, when you don’t agree, you cuss out the other guy, and then you both move on. In Do the Right Thing, you can see an example of this when the “Yuppie” ran his bicycle tires over one character’s expensive new sneakers. No physical blows – all verbal.
With regard to Clint Eastwood, there WERE about 1000 African American soldiers there, who were targets as they unloaded supplies. From the interviews I’ve read, plenty of them would have rather been fighting on the mountain, but were kept from doing that by institutionalized racism of the times. Clint could and should have been a big sport, and shown a few second scene of them being fired on. Clint goofed, but now way he’s a racist. That’s Brooklyn talking. (and Business)
Spike’s an actor, too. These comments are part of his act.
You know, if even a number as small as 10,000 people change channels whenever his name is mentioned, it’s noticed, and does make a difference to Business.
sausage lives around white hillbillies? where do you live sausage?
Here, here. Well said, and I wish more posters were honest enough to speak their true thoughts about black people. I see a lot of mealy-mouthed statements, but bitch-boy is willing to go all out. I think some people here are afraid of the backlash. But as lil-bitty boy can see, there isn’t much backlash at all.

I actually have seen racist language on the DailyKos and Huffington Post, but unlike Rick Moran and Malkin, the heads of those sites don’t try to portray an image of clean language and professionalism. I guess they aren’t phony. I’m going to do a spit-take next time I see Malkin on FoxNews talking about the types of posts which get deleted from her site. I changed the tone of my posts here shortly after joining, when I realized the often trashy, childish, mentality. Then again, I used to battle rap.
Have a great day nyk.
