The Obamessiah’s deep humility shines through in his new seal

For such a wonderfully media-savvy candidate, Obama’s graphic artists keep sending up clunkers. Frightening, presumptuous clunkers. Here’s the campaign’s latest, though I don’t know whether Shepard Fairey had a hand in this or not*:

THE GREAT SEAL OF THE OBAMESSIAH

Some bloggers have postulated that it’s too close to the existing Presidential seal, and therefore violates federal law. I don’t think that’s true; examining the Obama seal at high resolution reveals several differences**:

I. Latin motto changed to “VERO POSSUMUS”, which is Latin for “Si, se puede!”
II. Close examination reveals Obama’s seal contains 57 stars;
III. Eagle’s left wing is much stronger;
IV. The arrows in the eagle’s claw have Nerf tips;
V. That’s not an olive branch, but actually arugula in the other claw.
VI. There is no snake in the Obama eagle’s beak. It was thrown under the bus. It was not the snake that Obama’s eagle knew these many years.

Along with hawking his faux-leather bound “historic” speeches, “adapting” the presidential seal is not exactly enhancing the candidate’s reputation for humility, is it?

*Actually, scratch that. I’m sure Fairey did this, and I’ll tell you why. First, look at the Obama PROGRESS poster. See that little Obama logo on the lower right?

Let’s take a closer look:

See the how it’s looking at you like some malevolent panopticon? Yeah, that’s Shep Fairey’s weird-o-rama trademark, based on his OBEY pictures:

There’s a tiny one at the bottom of the CHANGE poster, too. I think he works them in to all his art.

Now look at the seal again. I’m going to zoom in on the Eagle’s wings, right where the oddly overly-defined tendons join the white meat and the Logobama shield:

There’s the Shep Star–legs, wings, head forming the five points, with the hooded eyes looking at you. When you stare into the Obamessiah, the Obamessiah…stares back.

** #1 is accurate–in English, “Truly, we can!” The other items are…nuanced. I figure most of you knew that, but sometimes people come here from Media Matters and they’re kind of slow.

obama’s personality or lackthereof is just coming to the forefront. The more that is exposed about this guy, the better. He’s an unknown and we need to make his objectives and their ramifications well known. The last part unfortunately will have to be spelled out for those under his spell if we want any chance to get them out of it. That will be key for republicans to put on an aggressive agenda. Of course, republicans aren’t off to a good start when they have mccain letting obama off the hook for having a whacko preacher as his “spiritual advisor” for so many years. Where is the leadership of the RNC? I find the RNC rather wimpy. You hear from howard whacko dean all the time yet no leadership from the RNC? What’s up with that!

I love it..charismatic but arrogant..the republicans should have played that up a bit more. Again, where is the RNC leadership??????
