I’m in favor of the Bovine Pipeline. Every cow in America will have a suction cup and a hose attached - not unlike a milking machine - and as they ruminate, their farts will head down the pipeline into the central collection tank for aggregation and thence on to the communal tank, where the methane will be burned for power. I like to think of it as Farts for Freedom. No Caribou will be harmed in the process. If you do not own a cow (they make lovely pets) Al Gore will sell you a virtual cow, so you will have Fart Credits to burn as you see fit.
Third world countries would love to achieve the American standard of living. Liberals would love to reduce America to third world standard of living.

Where would we be now if we had drilled in ANWR 10 years ago when the left (and associated RINOS) said it would be 10 years before we benefited from that production?

I find it interesting that a month ago the Sowdis pretty much told GW to take a hike when he asked for increased production, yet now that there is a lot of talk about increasing domestic production, they hold a meeting to figure out what to do about oil prices.
Just an announcement that we are going to drill ANWR and the continental shelf would bring prices down, IMHO.
With liberal logic being what it is, should we not all be using more air-conditioning and leaving the doors open to cool the planet? Just wondering.

Not to put a damper on this, because I agree that we should be drilling ANWR and wherever else we have oil available. . .
Such a drop in price would be very short lived. After all, I see little reason to doubt the 10 year estimate for time taken from the decision, to substantial output. Yes, some speculators would dump, dropping the price for a short while. But after a few weeks, it’d be right back up to where it is now.
None of that takes away from the long-term benefit of making our own reserves available for consumption though.

I do. Every winter I reduce the AC. Every summer I reduce the heater.
Do I get a carbon credit?
Everything has a short life-depending/relative. We have centuries of energy on this continent PLUS the alternative fuels and systems. Solar will come on line in LOCAL and LIMITED uses reducing the need for transmission lines.
But the Holy Mantra of the Left and tree huggers of “We can’t drill ourselves out of this” is just another scam to raise taxes with cap and trade. And High Tax Johnny Mac is as guilt as any.
Hydrogen fuel will not be feasible until we build generating plants to extract hydrogen from water or hydrates.
Stripping the hydrogen molecule from natural gas is more expensive and more polluting than using natural gas directly. We have the reserves and technology to solve this problem. Now we need a bulldozer to run over the objections, leftist and tree huggers.

Hey guys, am I the only one getting tired of a pack of losers, led by a rich Hawaiian lawyer, telling us what we CAN’T do all the time?
If someone said 100,000 Al Quaida terrorists were coming up through Central America and would be at the border in a month, I suspect we could get the border defended in about 3 days with a nice wall and a bunch of tanks.
Same applies to the pipelines. Who pulled this 10 year number out of their butt? I suspect if we had national will, we could get a hole drilled, pipe run, and refineries built in 36 months from conception to operation if the tree huggers and obstructionists would shutthefup and let us do our jobs.
America has the ability to do anything. Teddy Roosevelt would have built the wall, drilled the oil, and probably taken over the entire middle east by himself if he had to. But he didn’t have to do all his real life accomplishments by himself because he was a leader, and people followed. Something we don’t have on the horizon. We get some rich elitist telling us about hope. Well hope in one hand, and poop in the other and see which one gets full first, Barrack. Same to you McCain. Obamamust plan on waving his magic wand if he becomes POTUS & fixing all of our energy problems for the future. That was the most short-sighted statement I have heard in this election cycle & that is saying something.
We currently use about 20 million barrels of oil a day, and pump about 5 million, or 25% of our needs. We really need to get that up to 35% or even 50%. All a part of a comprehensive energy policy. We HAVE to drill, we HAVE to build refineries, we HAVE to construct more nuclear power plants. McCain wants to start 50 new nuke plants. That’s the smartest thing he’s said. If we’d done this 30 years ago, we’d be so far ahead. So let’s start now! This is so frustrating.

There will be no drilling for oil or gas on land or on sea or from shale or from any other source in this country. Petroleum products are evil and people who want to explore for them or use them are bad people who hate the planet and want the world to end in a ball of flames. And while we’re at it, when are you people going to start caring more about others than you do about yourselves?

If the argument against drilling for oil is it won’t accomplish anything for several years - then why do the leftists yearn for public education starting at an ever earlier age? Those kindergarteners don’t vote, they don’t pay taxes. I think you’d have a difficult time calling them “productive members of society”.

Whenever I have someone who comes in my office and tells me a project can’t be done for some reason, well, they don’t last long. Americans used to get things done by sheer force of will.
Obama says I’m rich, (not Obama rich, just I need to pay more taxes rich) and I’ve also been dirt poor to where I had to make a can of refried beans and a pack of tortillas last for three days of meals, but I didn’t get from A to B by hoping, or whining, or saying things ‘can’t be done’ or’ it won’t pay off right away so why try’…..
What kind of message is that for the kids????? We can’t get prices reduced this summer so why try? We can’t get technology to work right away, so let’s scratch our butts and whistle dixie until someone somewhere makes a windmill car. Let’s not build a fence because it might not work and someone could get their feelings hurt…… This lazy attitude of the two candidates is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard of.
Pick a president -wuss number 1 or wuss number 2… they are interchangeable.
He may want to start them, but who is he going to get to build them? There aren’t anywhere near that many construction outfits with expertise in nuclear construction - especially in this country, since we never build any. And that’s after you get the permits and finish fighting the environmental lawsuits. Don’t get overwhelmed by the empty rhetoric.
The government regulation that limits the incentive to build nuclear plants is similar to what our career school faces when attempting to alleviate the nursing shortage by offering nursing courses. Government officials have control of the decision making process (rather than the market) and even if we can meet all the guidelines, we can be refused permission because the publicly funded schools (our competition) have the ability to veto our application. How many companies can afford to defend themselves against continuous environmental lawsuits and/or protests while not being certain that they will be allowed to proceed with a well thought out plan?
Plenty of farts in Brooklyn, but for real gas bags, you have to go to the Upper West Side of Manhattan for that. Stuck on the West Coast now, but boy do I miss Bay Ridge!
I heard the offshore stuff could be pumping in about 5 years. ANWR in about 10.
If you had all of your electrical needs over your entire lifetime generated by nuclear power the amount of waste generated would be about the size of a can of soda.
We should build a nuke plant on the Berkeley city line and then refuse to let it use any of the electricity generated.
