Scenes from the Berkeley counterinsurgency: City council retreats?
Well, it’s about damned time. The Berkeley City Council surrenders to the nationwide backlash (and perhaps to liability concerns) and reportedly drops its preferential treatment policy of providing free parking to anti-war agitators Code Pink, who’ve been working tirelessly to boot the Marines out of the moonbat enclave.
Zombie’s got a new photo essay of the Marine recruiting center protest and counterprotest this weekend–attended by several hundred bikers and other pro-troops supporters.
Melanie Morgan blogged from the scene.
The SFGate reports:
No arrests were made, but one member of World Can’t Wait, an organization that seeks President Bush’s ouster, was briefly detained by police for using an electric bullhorn - his organization had not obtained a city permit allowing amplified sound.
“There was a lot of verbal energy,” said Kusmiss.
In one brief vocal flareup, an anti-war demonstrator muttered at a group of bikers, “Why don’t you go to war?”
“I did 20 years so you can say what you’re saying,” replied Jim Dunn, 45, of Monterey, who served for two decades as a Navy hospital corpsman. He belongs to the American Legion Riders, a national organization of motorcycle enthusiasts that supports the military and raises funds for veterans’ homes and children’s hospitals. He attended the rally with his girlfriend, Karen Sakais, a retired water quality inspector.
“This country is based on freedom,” she said. “I recognize and respect everyone’s right to protest. I’m here to support our troops - they are our sons and our daughters.”
The counterinsurgency continues…and don’t forget: From The Frontlines keeps the ball rolling on June 26. Be there!

Good morning, Michelle. Yes, it is about time that Berkeley look around and see how the rest of the country view them. Nothing changes politicians’ minds faster than being rediculed for a position they know is wrong.
Well this is a good first move. I personally think that City Council should issue a formal apology to the Marines.
Finally a win for the good guys.

At the very least!
I’m sure more than one bussiness person in town is saying “it’s about damn time”. Nothing sways a liberal quicker than lost income.
Also the trial for the ‘code pink 4 ‘ starts today. This truelly is a traveling circus.

One thing about arrogant cowards (like the Berkeley City Council), they have “retreat” down pat.
Score one for the Patriots of Berkeley.
Yes — good news indeed. Seconding (?thirding?) Armywife’s motion here, that the City Council apologize.
BTW, what is Michelle doing up so early?

Once again the people get to see the unbending resolve and the limitless class and dedication of the US Marine Corps … maintaining decorum and class … remaining in complete control of themselves throughout the situation … and refusing to stoop to the level of the moonbats on the council or the code pink dingbats …
Proud of my Corps … as always …
Semper Fi fellow Marines …
Treason, sedition, actively supporting people who openly proclaim a desire to see us dead and we are “proud” of some city council for revoking an asinine decision that should never have been made in the first place.
I am certainly glad this special order was rescinded but with the same people still in power and still fully unaccountable for their actions, I doubt we have heard the last of any of them.
It may be an advance in the right direction but I would not call it a victory so much as perhaps a small first step. Just my opinion.
I say a small prayer every day that my buddies feebiebabe and bear dont drink the tap water up there.
aj
add cpodug to that list as well … he is also in the bay area …
done deal.
Great news but remember this is only one front in our battle. We must stay strong like our mens and ladies of the armed forces. I wish i was on the show michelle was doing i could tell people how proud to be a son and grandson of navy mens and i would give my life to this country. God bless america and michelle.
I am . Messed up

My take on Code Pink:
“When you’re born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front row seat.”

If it wasn’t for the digital photograhy, I’d say the Zombie pictures are a waste of film.
That seems better.
SEEE…California has many strong PATRIOTS…!!
We just need to continue to be vocal and,,,
Keep the pressure on our “servant” (they work for us) government leaders…
esp. in places like Berkeley!
I love it!!!
Yeah Baaby!!!
Knock em dead tell em lies
Here’s where Robots Rules of Order don’t apply.
I love seeing the beeatches from the pink stain get trounced.
OOOOOOOOOORAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
DL - AJ - thanks for the remember - I noticed that they recently moved the Fremont recruiting office from one place to another - the new location is in the complex where I do most of my grocery shopping - makes it easy to stop by and visit, whenever I get a chance. And to the Marines in Berkeley, a hearty “Bravo Zulu”
I can’t thank our covert operative Zombie enough for the great pictures showing the foot soldiers of the liberal elites, I don’t know how he/she can stand to live amongst the whack jobs of the Bay Area. As an old Co-Pilot of mine always used to say “always know your enemy.” In this case they are easily brain washed drones that appear like they could use some time practicing proper hygiene.
Wish I could join those supporting the troops, but my “Tasmanian Devil” temper would have probably gotten the better of me. I vividly remember and have not forgiven the Hippies and war protestors of the 60s and how it would have been a fatal mistake for my father (an Air Force Recruiter in San Francisco 64-67) to go anywhere near UC Berkley while in uniform or driving his official staff car. Funny thing is he never had any problem filling recruitment quotes back then. Over 40 years later the US Marine Corps have been able to live up to their tradition of valor in the face of overwhelming odds by establishing a beachhead, digging in, and holding their ground while exceeding their recruiting goals in one of the most hostile locations on the West Coast.
…Was about to comment on the photos when I heard of George Carlin’s death of a heart attack. Now, no matter what side you’re on, he was one very funny and observant guy!!!
Do you suppose they think that, because they didn’t serve that no one else did either?
OT, but the last Carlin routine I laughed at was “Indian Sergeants.” Actually had to turn off his last HBO special because it was so dark.
What a strong, wonderful, thought. Code Pinkers are our sons and daughters also but in their case Rove vs Wave options unfortunately were not exercised and justify why some people don’t want to have children.
There are soooo many fronts in this war against the American Military and the American Way of Life. It makes me so proud to see Marines and other supporters of freedom stand their ground against the weirdos in berkely.
Do these weirdos not realize WHY they have the freedom and right to stand in a city street and protest? 1 + 1 = 2. How hard is that to learn?
About dang time…
Back when the war started I used to stop in and talk with those guys until I moved

Loved it when the protesters would walk on the on/off ramps in San Francisco. Or jumped onto the freeway and shut down the Treasure Island tunnel while I was in it.
Which means he ran his mouth.
It’s nice to see fair treatment down there for a change.
May all the Code Pinkos get larynxgitis
That wanna be 60’s bunch sure is Absolut er emphatic,no,empathetic uh pathetic, thats it.
It’s about time. I guess their pocketbooks are beginning to hurt.
I love the comeback:
