Psyche!
Ha! Not falling for these leads anymore, Michelle. Sadly, the pols have no interest whatsoever in completing our fence.
You first build me up, then cut the legs right out from under me!
You’re worse than a woman!
Wait, you ARE a woman! Figures!
Not fooled for one second. We will get our fence as soon as we get tax reform.
In what state is Spain located? AZ, CA, TX?
Good teaser there Michelle!
Geee…imagine that, another country trying to hang on to it’s sovereignty…bet it didn’t take 5 yrs to build either.
If only Congress could see this.
Where are the international finger-wagging liberals and cries of xenophobia?
Oh, that’s only if America wants to secure its borders.
damn. there’s always a ‘bad news’ after a good sounding headline about the border.
nuance.
I was just about to sneak in there.
don’t tease…
Fools – their goats will escape anyway!
A few more years and the illegals will stop coming to America… no one bothers to sneak into a third world country.
¡Tenemos la tecnología!
Since this fence is around Spain’s African enclaves, this should tie in well with the racism thread.
Seriously, when I first saw that it was Spain, I thought, “Who wouldn’t want to keep the French out?”
Rob #12 – I’d laugh at what you said if it wasn’t so true!
John Kerry and Jerry Lewis.
Since we import so much from China, is there a chance we can import the Great Wall of China?
Spiegel:
I wish all those fence skeptics would note what the Spanish appear to have realized – that even if you don’t want the fence to protect us, it may very well prove to protect the lives of those emigres looking to cross our borders, irregardless of the dangers involved.
DHD
Sin duda eso es verdad …
What? I thought Spain was supposed to be one of those superior enlightened nations of Europe that has evolved beyond the silly antiquated notions of national identity and sovereignty….
Good for you Spain!
Grrr!
Again, practicality (and reality) falls flat on its face:
1. US/Mexico border: 1,989 miles
2. US/Canada border: 5,525 miles
3. US coastal border: 95,000 miles

Fencing off the US? Reminds me of those appocolyptic Hollywood movies. Really…
So, not mentioning the astronomical costs of installing the maintaining the infrastructure, the patrons then end of serving as the proverbial monkeys in the cage. The State then controls all comings and goings and smells very much like East Germany Circa 1970. Eh, Comrade?
My, my. A country protecting its border. Gee, who would have ever thought; and they’ve been doing it for hundreds of years, too! Just like other countries. Seems to work too. I wonder if that idea might be something we could think worthwhile? Nah…oley, oley, in come free!
Photo 11 is pretty disturbing, as it build a monument to people who’ve attempted to break the law…and died while doing it. Not to mention, but for the grace of the EU, Spain would be just as third world as the countries these immigrants are attempting to flee.
To say the least, building a monument in the shape of a gate to welcome the immigrants breaking the law by honoring the memory of those before them who have perished, sends a mixed message.
When asked for comment, Senator Obama replied, “This is not the Spain I knew.”
On a more serious note, I constantly hear complaints that we need to be “more like Europe.” Okay! Let’s start by buidling a fence.
But that won’t happen.
BF Deal! The Spaniard’s fortress fence is only 7 miles in length. I’d hold back on the congratulations, folks. Though they got a fence built at a cost approaching $50 million dollars US, (that’s $7.1 million per mile), lauding this while decrying the failed US efforts is a very weak comparison.
…and once a fence is built, which side are the animals on? And who are the zoo keepers with the keys?
Clearly Spain is populated by Red Sox fans who want to keep out Yankee fans. I have photographic proof!
Uuuggghhh, here I thought it was the US. Silly me.
Wow. No one expected the Spanish Inquisition.
(waits for the response….)
Europe doesn’t ban nuclear power or ban offshore drilling, either. Maybe there are a few good things the Left could learn from Europe.
The Right too.
I was going to say something about the French, but I’m glad I clicked the link.
Gee, why can’t the US take example?
Michelle, as a child did you enjoy pulling the sucker out of your baby brother’s mouth?
Where’s lgm and all the other liberal trolls to denounce this horror of humanity and surpressing the flourishing and vibrant illegal immigrant population of Spain?
Oh that’s right, they only want our borders wide open to further their political agenda. Gotcha.
Yeah. It’s really enlightening to look at other countries take on legal and illegal immigration.
Such as in Spain. Or how Mexico treats it’s southern border and the people who attempt to violate their laws coming from the south.
I am sorry to say that MY Senators from Georgia voted for this issue. I thought, prayed, hoped and wished they were above this s+++ but I guess they arn’t. Sorry bunch of politicians for sure.
Bob69…
At least you don’t have Boxer and Feinstein as your senators.
I have NO hope whatsoever.
How dare the Spaniards build a fence to keep out African “illegal” immigrants! After all, the Iberian Penninsula has been part of the North African heritage for eons…”Si, se puede?”…”Vero possumus?”
I noticed the term “illegal” never appeared in the article. Hmmmm.
#28, always a funny show wasn’t it? I love Monty Python, used to watch it with my dad when I was a kid.
Reminds me of this post of mine from a while back.
Yeah, well the gang San Fers took a hit today. A judge upheld the gang injunction. And to think there was opposition to these illegal invader gang bangers makes me shake my head.
Good News! The virtual fence is back! With Lots more towers!!
Now how much would you pay??
Gah, Michelle, you are such a brat! I could really get to hate you if
I wasn’t so busy checking your site four or more times a day…
One thing to remember is that these fences are built not along the entire Spainish border but along their small enclaves in North Africa. It would be as though all the US had to do was build a fence around San Diego and Nogales. It is less daunting than building a fence on the entire US border.
Tease. You’re just a tease. :>
lgm and the Troll Patrol are still crunching the numbers on their Univictim computer before determining which position to take.
For a moment there, the headline made me feel safer, then I remembered about the time my nightlight bulb burnt out and I woke up screaming. Tiz naught but a bad dream.
Curses! You have found out our plan!
#28 Wow. No one expected the Spanish Inquisition.

NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!

good 1 John, made me laugh
I had a dream…
Michelle, as my 90 year old aunt would say with her finger wagging, NAUGHTY NAUGHTY NAUGHTY.
I believe the answer is will be that the issue of fences and illegal immigrants in Europe would never have arisen if the the United States didn’t have such an inhumane, racist immigration policy.
Ding Ding Ding, We have the “R” word!
Racist indeed, #51!! How dare we allow so many Mexicans, Cental, and South Americans into this country when there are so many others who seek to live in a free (liberty, not cost) and prosperous society.
Central… derr
As if a fence is going to do any good anyway… I’m serious when I advocate a small chain-link fence with little signs saying “¡El campo de minas guarda hacia fuera!” followed by an anti-vehicular minefield, an anti-vehicular ditch, then an anti-personnel minefield followed by another cheap chain-link fence with little signs saying, “Mine Field. Keep Out!” Then give the Border Agents a UAV capability to provide overwatch, perhaps using National Guard or Reserve units who can brush up on their flying skills.
BadIdeaGuy,
That was sarcasm on my part. Now get some sleep!
I guess it was just wishful thinking on my part. We owe you Michelle!
I don’t see a need to fence off the entire border; just those parts where people cross illegally.
And the spectre of smuggling in a nuke or parts to build a nuke was raised over 55 years ago; please see:
Iron Curtain over America
(docstoc.com page 70)
And here’s what we SHOULD have along the US/Mexican border:
