Even Bigger Outrage–Mexican soldiers hitmen arrested for murdering man in his Phoenix, Arizona home

By see-dubya  •  June 26, 2008 03:02 PM

If you thought this was bad, wait till you see this.

The suspects may have been hired by drug cartels to perform home invasions and assassinations in the U.S.

Police reports show that three men arrested in a Phoenix home invasion and homicide Monday may have been active members of the Mexican Army.

Full tactical gear, AR-15s, 50-100 rounds burped off at the victim’s house (who was suspected to be a marijuana dealer) and alleged plans to “ambush” any Phoenix PD officers who tried to stop them.

When the Wall Street Journal says, “Let there be open borders”, is this what they had in mind?

Forget the fence for just a second and think about this:

The Mexican Army has made several incursions across our Southern border. Some were probably just units getting lost, some had a more sinister reason behind them…but given the recruitment of elite military assassination squads by the cartels, this should be seen as a serious problem.

It would be overstating the problem to say that “the Mexican military is invading us”. But there is a criminal, militarized element that is crossing the border with impunity and distressing regularity, and for nefarious purposes.

Why is President Bush pulling the National Guard off the border? Granted, there have been some problems, but why should we leave potential combat with a militarized incursion to the Border Patrol?

Okay, now think about the fence again. Real, please, not virtual.
_______________

UPDATE: That Fox item linked above (and the AZ Republic) is saying they weren’t active Mexican soldiers, but that one had received military training. So, okay, nothing to worry about then. Just business as usual. Six trained hitmen in a Tahoe full of AR 15s and tactical gear can drive across the “border” and kill a guy in his house in Phoenix and expect to get away with it.

No problem here. Everybody go back to sleep.

Ok, this is somewhat related, given that it occurred in McCain’s state and given Juan’s open arms for open borders…

    McCain’s strategy: link

The strategy: Paint Obama as conventional politician who always takes the safe and easy political road, then amplify the distinction by framing McCain as a patriot, somebody who has put sacrifice above self.

It’s seemingly an effort by McCain to remind voters of his Vietnam-era heroism and compelling life story while touching on key issues to avoid running purely on biography.

Sounds like John Kerry all over again. “Hey, did you know I was in Viet Nam?”

And this, McCain again turning his back on party, as if partisanship is a bad thing:

In a memo sent to reporters Thursday morning headlined, “Country First Vs. Self-Serving Partisanship,” McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt traces an unbroken line from the physical courage McCain demonstrated in the Hanoi Hilton to the political bravery his supporters say he demonstrated on Capitol Hill.

I will never vote for Juan McCain.

more on happenings in Phoenix which appears to be a hotbed of Islamic terror activities and Mexican drug cartels - PHOENIX — An Iranian-born engineer has pleaded guilty to transporting stolen property, including training software, from a U.S. nuclear plant where he had worked to Iran.

Mohammad Reza Alavi, 50, pleaded guilty to the charge in a deal reached Tuesday with federal prosecutors, according to The Arizona Republic.

A federal jury last month had convicted Alavi of illegally accessing a protected computer but deadlocked on two other counts, and he faced a retrial.

He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison on both charges at a Sept. 29 sentencing.

Alavi, a naturalized U.S. citizen, worked for Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station west of Phoenix for 17 years.

Authorities said that after Alavi quit the station in 2006, he took a laptop to Iran containing training software with design schematics and other details of the plant. His material did not contain enough information to pose a security threat, Palo Verde officials have said.

But prosecutors said Alavi knew he was breaking federal law when he took the software to Iran and then downloaded codes to use it in Iran. /**/

Last month, a jury convicted Alavi of illegally accessing a protected computer, but it deadlocked on one count of stealing protected software from the plant and one count of illegally exporting it in violation of the U.S. trade embargo with Iran.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped the charge of violating a U.S. trade embargo. Alavi also agreed not to appeal his conviction of illegally accessing a computer.

“We are pleased to have achieved a resolution with the government which fits the case and which enables Mr. Alavi and his family to move forward with their lives,” defense attorney David Laufman said Tuesday.

After Alavi was arrested, Palo Verde operator Arizona Public Service promised to implement new security procedures.

It may have moved since I looked last, but so far as I know the Rio Bravo del Norte doesn’t constitute any part of the Mexico/Arizona border. It flows south out of New Mexico, forms part of the Texas/NM border west of El Paso, then turns southeast, forming the Texas/Mexico border.

Liberals won’t even care when it’s a tahoe full of nuclear material (aka bomb) driven across the “border” and watches LA go up in smoke. We’ll they’ll kinda care since LA is so liberal but they’ll just blame Booosh (despite the fact that the FISA handcuffing, open borders mantra, and anti-military stance they took in direct conflict to keeping nuclear armed terrorists from coming across completely undetected. What is even more hilarious if it were not so insane even if a police car in LA did stop this nuclear laden SUV for suspicious activity the cop would not be able to ask for identifying information of the legal status of the terrorist since that would be “racial profiling”.)

Yeah, they aren’t insane or anything.

They won’t care until the bandidos start kidnapping and murdering pols, celebrities, wealthy businessmen, and their families. Don’t laugh, it’s what they’ve done in Mexico for years.

The fact that the article says “AR-15 assault rifles” makes me think we don’t have some objective reporting here.

The only difference between the two is that the M16A2 military standard issue rifle (at least that model was the standard issued one I got in ‘98, the newer models rolling out have the vertical hand grip and I don’t follow newer names but I believe that model is the M16A4) has an additional 3 round burst selector whereas the AR-15 does not and only has the semi-automatic selector.

So if the Phoenix PD says they were AR-15’s I have no reason to doubt them. You think the cartels are going to buy military grade M16’s that they would have to steal or bribe from the ones we sell to other countries or go to the local gun shop in Phoenix or Tucson and buy AR-15’s that look and work exactly the same minus the 3 round (rather useless and hardly ever used it myself while in the army) burst?

grizzly–that’s a distinction i always look for in the media boilerplate about cartel weaponry. I’ve no doubt a huge amount of ordnance like AR15’s goes south out of gun shows and gun shops–but the media coverage then usually confuses it and complains about full auto weaponry, which is either stolen from the Mexican military or maybe percolating up from South American sources.

    Here’s an example.

The more of you there are, and the less there are of people voting for McCain and the higher likleyhood that Obama will win. Because a whole lot of democrats are going to be voting for him.

I stand corrected. Sort of. Not really. Besides, my comment was in reply to your calling me a liberal troll. I am not. If you want to stand so close to the real liberal trolls that there is no daylight between you, then be my guest.

On the contrary, I think it is you who doesn’t and wouldn’t understand. You are correct; I vote for the candidate who best represents my values and beliefs. Given that our president is not elected by popular vote and that individual states select their electors, I don’t have much hope for your argument, whatever it is.

Wow, as a frequent commenter on this site, I didn’t think I’d need to explain my point, but here it goes.

Any third party candidate that “reflects your values” has a very slim chance of actually getting elected. One only need look at Ross Perot and Ralph Nader as evidence. Given that these two are arguably more popular than any third party candidate running this time, it is safe to say that no third party candidate will be elected. Now that we have established that either McCain or Obama will be elected, by not casting your vote for McCain, you have decreased his odds of winning and increased Obama’s.

Therefore, Obama will be glad to see that you won’t vote for McCain.

Given how liberal our Congress has become and the possibility that they will retain a majority in both the House and Senate, I personally will do anything to keep a proven socialist out of office. A RINO is 100% more acceptable to me than seeing Obama signing bills into law that a liberal Congress dreams up and then having a Ginsburg filled Supreme Court declare constitutional and setting precedent. Maybe you have a place in some other country or are really just a troll, but I’m raising a family in this country and I’d like to see them enjoy the fruits of their labors, not what’s handed to them by the government.

If that’s not simple enough for you, then I’m pretty sure you don’t have the ability to figure out a simple ballot either, so never mind.

This is seriously derangement. Obama is a liberal. Very liberal. McCain is more liberal than would be acceptable but he is no where near the ideology of some one like Obama. This is so frustrating, you shouldn’t be acting like a democrat and lying about a republican you don’t like in an attempt to make him into a monster that you (any anyone else here) is attempting to make him out to be.

And in this election, there will be two people to choose from. Not 3. Not 4. Not 5. If you had half a functioning brain cell you could figure this out on your own.

Not participating in our democracy allows more democrats to decide who will be the next president. Choosing someone else will also be a wasted vote and will help the person who you like the least. AT LEAST the person you should like the least is the democrat.
