I’m on the West Coast for a few more days. Thanks again to all of you who supported “From the Frontlines.” Our friends at Move America Forward tell me the total is now more than $1.1 million! Still sifting through an avalanche of e-mails from michellemalkin.com and hotair.com readers and commenters to figure out our final tally–but it looks like we well exceeded our $15,000 goal. Bravo!

Make yourselves at home and feel free to shoot the breeze. I’ll be back to normal blogging later tonight.

Likely a moot point and Obama will be doing the amnesty thing.

For some reason I’m beginning to wonder it Obama would be as bad on this issue as McCain.

I feel like going to the office today. I was wondering about Osama’s (Microsoft spell corrector did it, not me) Global Poverty Act. I wasn’t sure if it was up for vote this week or not. It seems like the dumbest piece of legislation I’ve ever seen.

Other than that I had a talk with a crazy liberal pal of mine that thinks it’s a great idea for the illegals to get amnesty because he feels they’ll pay for our social security, sounds like he wants a slave state.

I also thought about if the current crop of illegals are given amnesty what is stopping more illegals replacing the ranks and filling the ’slave labor’ void of the ones given amnesty?

These seem like valid thoughts to me. Any rebuttals are most welcome.

McCain said the 12 million illegal aliens in US are all “God’s children”. Oh my gosh. Does that mean we’re going to get 12 million new US citizens post haste? I wonder if McCain identifies with them because of his own background as a “maverick”. Bottom 5% of his class at Annapolis (I think 5% is being charitable. Might be 1%) because of his wild, rule-breaking ways. He figuratively spit in the face of his Vietnamese torturers for 5 years. I wonder that he admires someone who hopped the fence and did it their way. I’m struggling to understand why he’s so interested in rewarding lawbreaking. Anyone have any other ideas?

I have a question about the two candidates’ voting performances.

This past year (June 29, 2007 – present) I tallied that Barack Obama missed roughly 238 Senate votes (give or take a few). That’s according to Obama’s site; please feel free to correct my math if I messed up. Anyway, is missing 238 votes while running for President unusual or par for the course?

I tried to locate the Maverick’s voting record over this same period of time, but unfortunately his site doesn’t provide a readily identifiable link to his voting record.

True. But if he wants to win the white house he will have to note that the libs and illegals are not enough….if it were so he should be ahead in the polls by now and he ain’t.

This makes an excellent opportunity for conservatives to dictate terms to McCain the same way we did Bush in 2000 and 2004-and smile.

Why didn’t he take the early release, hell there was a war going on out there. One thing for sure, he learned his capitulating skill in the Hanoi Hilton. I wonder where he would be today, having graduated 895 of 900, had he not had Bob Dole breaking water for him and had he not been allowed to award himself a sh!t pot full of valor metals (none of the usual confirmation procedures were observed by the Navy). He needs help with funding so please if you can spare $25 or $50 please donate to him. He is truly a great guy and one that will do right be the American people from Washington DC. We need many more like him working for us and then maybe we can get out of this mess we are in now, due to the incompetance of the idiots that we currently have working for us. I doubt if what they are doing up there can be considered ‘working for us’? More like working for themselves! Goldwater Knight,

Great post concerning the Global Poverty Tax. According to American Thinker, it will be up for a vote soon after the Independence Day recess. Once Harry Reid and the Democrat leadership put it on the calendar, we could have as little as a week to prepare for the vote.

In addition to the obvious, what concerns me most about this bill is the ambiguity of some of the language. Specifically, does the below quoted summary apply only to recipient nations or all nations that participate (even the donor nations)?

In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning “small arms and light weapons” and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

I have not read the entire bill, but skimmed it enough to know that this is definitely not in America’s interests. Obviously, this bill must be fought and it’s my guess that the Senate majority leader will attempt to put it on the calendar immediately following the recess in order to avoid us shutting down the faxes and phone lines again.

He also was upholding a responsibility of a US military officer by not abandoning his fellow prisoners …

I have to assume from your comment that you know nothing of the expectations of our military when captured … the chain of command for US forces does not stop just because they are POWs …

McCain said a top priority, and certainly within his first 100 days would be, you guessed it, “comprehensive immigration reform”.

When I googled that the next 2 paragraphs that came up in the story were:

He added that his primary focus regarding immigration reform was to secure the United States border with Mexico.

“We will not succeed in the Congress of the United States until we convince a majority of the American people that we have border security,” he said.

Look, I am going to vote for McCain because he won’t snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory in Iraq and will work to win in Afghanistan. Obama would be a disaster for the USA on so many levels.

That said, we need to get organized to insist that we will not accept any broad type of amnesty. (I am not opposed to allowing people in the military or the like pathways to citizenship. I imaging that most people here have their own criteria for who the would toss out and who have proven themselves worthy of becoming an American.

We are up against people who take to the streets to express their will. “Our” side grumbles on the internet and talks about how we can undermine ourselves.

(CNN) — Hundreds of thousands of protesters turned out Monday in small towns and big cities across the United States, demanding that undocumented immigrants get a chance to live the American dream.

Organizers said their “national day of action for immigration justice” included events in more than 140 cities in at least 39 states, with drum-banging and flag-waving masses chanting “Si se puede” — “Yes we can” — in rallies from coast to coast.

I have no doubt that it will be harder to stop an amnesty program under Obama then McCain. But if no one is willing to do anything but complain on the internet then it isn’t going to get stopped at all.

In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

This is why I will vote against Obama.

While I want a secure border, and want illegals sent packing, I fear Islamofascism and creeping Sharia more than anything else for this country.

Obama has openly stated his sympathy for Muslims – Muslims in this country who rejoiced on 9/11, and who have yet to uniformly denounce the terrorist attacks against America by their fellow religionists.

Well, that’s just great Einstein, but do you think Mugabe and his thugs know what dialogue is, other than violence against anyone who disagrees or challenges him?

“Yang stuck to a position that China, one of Zimbabwe’s chief friends and trading partners, long has held.”

    Ok, that explains it all.

It also made me mad how they would focus on specific athletes to build them up as unbeatable only to watch them fail miserably. Then instead of telling us more about the winner, we had to suffer through endless discussions about why their darling didn’t win. Hmmm… kinda like they do for certain presidential candidates; ignore all but the anointed ones.

Don’t believe that was Kerry. That was another of the Democrat “war heroes”, I think Cleland.

Kerry’s third was a “contusion”, I believe received while he was out of sight of everybody on his boat, during an action when another boat in front of him hit a mine. Some say it was the sort of thing you’d get if you, say, swung your arm against a bulkhead or something. The liberals in the mainstream media never point out this contradiction, and I think I know why. They are speaking from a “global” perspective, which means that even the poorest Americans are rich in comparison. So taxing the “rich” means taxing anyone who makes over a $1 a day.

Obama wants to wage a global war on poverty and he plans to get the money from “rich” Americans to pay for it (see #15). And believe me, this is one war the Democrats won’t mind waging for a hundred years or longer…

Al Gore’s Personal Electric Use Up 10%

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month…

Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul.

You’d think it wouldn’t be that hard for a motivated millionare to get his carbon emissions down to say two or three times that of the average American, especially since Gore claims that the average American uses more energy than anyone else. I guess he’s not all that concerned for his childrens’ future (or he doesn’t really believe his own hype.)
