At 8:30 p.m. April 3, a staff member was driving the car on the San Diego (405) Freeway, when he got into a crash. According to a California Highway Patrol report, the staffer, Henry Rogers, reported being struck in the rear by a white sport utility vehicle. The impact caused him to spin out and hit the center median, and left major damage to the left rear of the Town Car.
The CHP report gives no information about the insurance on the car, other than to say that it was a “rental.” But Richardson’s subsequent actions suggest that Rogers may not have been listed as an eligible driver on her insurance policy.
According to the former staffer, after the crash Richardson required her district employees to buy additional insurance so they could legally drive the Lincoln. The former staff member did not want to be identified out of fear of jeopardizing future employment prospects.
Another former staffer said Rogers was not forced to pay for the damage to the car, but did not know how the issue was resolved.
Can someone explain the rationale behind having taxpayers foot the bill for transportation of elected officials?
My understanding of the founders original intent was that serving as an elected official was supposed to be a sacrifice for the good of the nation and not a money making scheme.
When did we go from serving to deserving?
Richardson did not report the crash to Enterprise, but it is not clear that she was required to, given that she was self-insured.
Records also indicate that Richardson owes $83 for illegally parking the Town Car in Long Beach. The ticket was issued Jan. 23 in the amount of $40, but has since doubled because it was not paid on time.
Theres lot of such people from both parties who should be in jail or psychiatric clinics instead of Congress…Larry Craig, William Jefferson are few names right out of head…

Well, some parts if it are, some are far from it. Nevertheless, it has enough voters who will blindly vote for anyone with “D” following their name. I’m sure if Charles Manson had a chance to run as a Dem in this district he would likely get more votes than any Republican opponent. Hence, the Republicans don’t even bother running any candidate here.
The last Republican that was successful in this area was Steve Horn who saw the writing on the wall when his district was jerrymandered heavily toward Democrats and decided not to run again for re-election.

Hey e8nw, you think Congresswoman Richarson is profligate with our money? I work overseas much of the time, and you should see what the state department is doing with our money in foreign countries. First year college graduates living like kings and queens in mansions with fancy cars, posh furniture, cooks, gardners, maids, chauffers, guardians, etc., all paid for by you and me. Free airplane fares back to the USA for short visits. And, they get hardship pay because they are living overseas!!! Our government officials, here and abroad, are milking us like holsteins.
Her and Wesley Clark shoud go on a date in her sweet a$$ whip. They should visit Lover’s Leap at midnight.

Given her credit history, I’m surprised she can lease any vehicle at any price. For her $1300 a month is a bargain.
Self control seems to be a quality lacking in many congresscritters. She fits right in and she’s not wasting any time in getting her perks. Must’ve learned to go for the best (why not - who’s to tell her no?) in her prior experience as a deadbeat pol in local and state office.
Seems to me, there should be a limited choice in what vehicles members of congress have available to them if they must be provided one at all.

Finally home and able to comment, the damn DoD no longer allows me to comment from work or go to Little Green Footballs now, when it gets slow at the office. If I could stomach it I would go see if I could get to the vile nutroot sites instead they always seem to block the conservative sites.
This woman should be the poster child for how NOT to manage your personal expenses. She must really be stupid to pay $1,300 a month for a freaking lease on a vehicle what a business woman. brooklyn red it isn’t the first time this has happened since I have been checking on various sites since I discovered the blogsphere back in early 2002. I have a feeling the pro-Muslim 5th column up at the puzzle palace (Pentagon) have had a lot to do with the LGF being blocked. It really ticks me off when I can’t keep an eye on the excesses of our Muslim enemies. The weird thing is I can still get to Jawa and other sites I guess Charles and his lizards have made some enemies over the last couple of years.

After reading all the articles about her including the Times one, this woman sounds about as reckless as just about anyone could be. amazing. Makes me wonder why I pay my bills and tickets, etc. She doesn’t seem to feel that any of that stuff is important. And why must she lease a car that costs twice what everyone else pays? Someone like that doesn’t really deserve to have the taxpayers foot her bill for that. This girl needs to be stopped! Whoever’s running against her, please win!!!

She certainly is a greedy one. And, she certainly doesn’t mind flaunting it either. People like her, though, eventually fall. They keep getting encouraged by getting away with things, and push for more…ego. Soon, she’ll go too far, and that will be the end of her. She’ll end up being an embarrassment to the party (if there is such a thing these days), and she’ll be stopped.

This is what angers me. Surely, the voters of Carson, California have other well-qualified black candidates for this seat. I get the fact they want a Democrat. Fine, just vote in someone that (at least) gives the appearance that the voters’ (and country’s) needs are job one. Although I lean to the right, this should truly be a non-paritisan issue and would call for her removal even if the “R” was behind her name. But apparently, Congress continues to cover the a** of one of their own by even to comment on it publicly (see “Cold Cash” Jefferson).
Eventually, even the good people in Atlanta saw fit to oust the embarassing Cynthia McKinney from Congress (of course, McKinney then moved to California to pursue her political career).
