More on the odious Wesley Clark
Former Hillary cheerleader and new Barack Obama suck-up Wesley Clark won’t apologize for his moronic remarks about John McCain’s military service and lack of “executive responsibility.” Pete Hegseth of Vets for Freedom lays into Clark. So does a reader who had the misfortune of experiencing a small part of Wes Clark’s own brand of “executive responsibility:”
From reader Don W.:
I was in the 1/77 Armor with then Ltc Wes Clark. What a story that is. Many good men left the Army rather than serve with him. I even joked I would move to Israel if he became very influential. Imagine my apprehension when I heard he got the NATO command.
[Clark] was bragging in 1981 that Al Haig would ask him to serve with Mr. Reagan. Now he’s a Democrat. Wow.
He once made a comment about being a tanker with dusty boots. That made me furious. He knew very little about tanks or the men who fought them. He proved himself to be an idiot to me and several others in 1981 on my tank in the motor pool. He “inspected” my tank in an effort to embarass me in front of my Co and the Battalion staff. I knew little about the 2 things he inspected, so I figured he was right when he said my brakes were bad and the battery compartment should not be wet. Later, with my platoon sgt., we read the manual and found out my brakes were fine and battery compartments always have water.
…I just wish more people knew the truth about him.
Other memorable examples of Wes Clark’s “executive” leadership skills:
*Crusading to kick rush Limbaugh off of Armed Forces Radio.
*Embracing an anti-war hoaxer.
*Paying homage to the Kos Kidz.
*And from the milblog Command Post five years ago, a round-up of his career as the “model of a political general,” including a lovely photo of Clark trading hats with Bosnian Serb Gen. Ratko Mladic, an indicted war criminal and fugitive from justice. More:
Then there’s what some former subordinates and co-workers had to say on Counterpunch :
“The poster child for everything that is wrong with the GO (general officer) corps,” exclaims one colonel, who has had occasion to observe Clark in action, citing, among other examples, his command of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood from 1992 to 1994.
[...]Such strong reactions are common. A major in the 3rd Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado when Clark was in command there in the early 1980s described him as a man who “regards each and every one of his subordinates as a potential threat to his career”.
While he regards his junior officers with watchful suspicion, he customarily accords the lower ranks little more than arrogant contempt. A veteran of Clark’s tenure at Fort Hood recalls the general’s “massive tantrum because the privates and sergeants and wives in the crowded (canteen) checkout lines didn’t jump out of the way fast enough to let him through”.
As for his judgement in times of crisis – well, it’s not often that I’ll quote the Grauniad, but this is what they had to say :
As allied troops moved into Kosovo, 200 Russian troops made a surprise dash from Bosnia and occupied Pristina airport, where [UK] General Sir Mike Jackson, the commander of the international K-For peacekeeping force, was to make his headquarters. Gen Clark ordered Gen Jackson to storm the airport at which point the British commander was reported to have said: “I’m not going to start the third world war for you.”
…As for General Clark’s views on “Unilateral Action”, they seem change markedly, depending on who is in power. From Col. Jafras USAF (Retd) :
Nancy Hey began the questioning by expressing her opposition to the U.S. being the “World’s Policeman.” Clark went into a long explanation of how we can’t stand by while people are being killed, there’s genocide and ethnic cleansing, etc., etc. He acknowledged that we can’t be everywhere but in the case of Kosovo we could do something. When Nancy pressed him about not getting involved in other countries’ civil wars and internal problems, his reply was, “Shouldn’t we have done something about the Holocaust?” I told him that trying to equate Kosovo to the Holocaust was ridiculous. When another person questioned his position that we should have gone in on the ground as one that would have resulted in unacceptable casualties, Clark replied that the Yugoslav Army in Kosovo, which remain hidden to avoid the bombing was demoralized and probable would not fight.
The reason why General Clark has been so opposed to the Iraq war appears to be quite simple : Because it’s the Republicans who’re doing it.
He has the whole Clinton electoral mafia (I don’t use the word perjoratively) behind him. I think he’s a shoe-in as Democratic VP candidate – if that’s what he’ll settle for. He’s the consumate politician, and always has been. He knows which way the wind blows, and bends accordingly. A true “Little Napoleon”.

Page 5, quoth the Obamanation
Giving the Obammunist the benefit of the doubt, if we call the 1700s the 18th century, we have just started the 21st century, maybe that is what he meant. Or, maybe, this is another 57th state kind of deal.
Below the quote above, the Obamarxist calls for “civics education” for our children. I believe I know what his idea of “civics education” means.
DL,
HA! It must be nice to live in a world where your shortcomings are of no importance because you know a guy who grows pot in his backyard and you can claim the high road and say – at least I’m not doing that!
oh to be liberal….
400 years, my how time flies. If seems like only this year that we hit 232…
Saw Clark mouthing crap this morning on ABC–perhaps he made the rounds on the networks. Regardless, he didn’t apologize & made it apparent he backed B. Hussein Obama. He made the point at least twice, that he, Clark, also came home ‘on a stretcher’.
So, let me see if I’m getting this; McCain’s service doesn’t matter, Clark’s does, and B. Hussein’s lack of it perfectly enables him to be president??
wighttrasch:
I call that liberal logic.
Teacher: “Now class, tell me what comes next. From each according to his ability…”
Class: “From each according to his need!”
Teacher: “Very good, class! Now, what runs a world in need?”
Class: “White folks’ greed!”
Teacher: “Excellent, class!”
Then he shot himself in the ass. What a leader.
clark’s a jerk
1) Then you aren’t strong enough in your beliefs, meaning conservatives are right. If you really believe in liberalism, you wouldn’t care what conservatives say.
I don’t care what liberals think about me unless they prevent my free speech, destroy my property, or physically hurt me, my families, and friends.
2) Like lib talkers/writers are immune from name calling.
3) Or you are just a big baby like most libs.
lgm,
Never confuse rank with competence. Clark was just an opportunistic ass kisser who was generally hated by contemporaries and subordinates alike.
The man needs to be taken gently by the arm, escorted home, and plopped into a chair on the front porch. There to stay…permanently retired.
As I enter my second century as an American, I realize how funny the seagull game is.
Excellent, Barry F!
By the way, lgm, how about a simple yes or no. Did you donate anything to support our troops?

Well said. ‘lil Wes is all about ‘lil Wes. As far as I’m concerned he’s a genius, but on the order of a Ted Bundy. As for Obama throwing him under the bus, that’s crap. The Obie campaign is cleverly insulating him from criticism by allowing him to say McCain is a hero while ‘lil Wes and others continue to attack from the backside. So much for change we can believe in. The Clintonistas have their fingerprints all over this strategy. Expect more of the same in the months to come.
I had the day off today, so I and the wife went to see the U.S.S. Wisconsin. Awesome tour. I think we spent more time chatting with the “former crew member” volunteers than actually touring the ship. Navy personnel were everywhere. Great people. One young seaman was a short-timer;7 days and a wake-up and he was going home to Rhode Island. We shook hands with him and thanked him for his service. His smile was from ear to ear from our comments. Sure was like a tonic of patriotism, being with people like that.
Well if you’d learn to spell “hypocrite”, people might take you more seriously – and I don’t know what your problem with Don is either.
Uh, the race is between Obama and McCain, Clark’s experience (being fired as NATO Commander) is immaterial here.
Ha-ha, but I don’t think he’s a pilot. He will be causing trouble at the airport though…
Rusty said: “Exposing a captive audience to a hateful buffoon whose purpose is to divide the country is not in the military’s best interests.”
I thought all of those things about Rush for years when I WAS a Democrat. Than I listened to him and found him to be very likeable, somewhat funny, and the polar opposite of how the Left portrays him.
Imagine that!?
You can tell Obama is a rookie. Would you want “help” from the Clintons? Somehow I think their help leads to a Hillary run in 2012.
JT:
Kerry did something even dumber than shooting himself in the ass…. he fired an M-79 round( we called them Blooper rounds) into a rock formation because he needed to fire at something… and the shrapnel blew a piece into his ass when he turned away from the blast… the stinking ninny. his other Purple Heart came from a rice grain being pulled out of his bod.. all his “wounds ” were scratches.
In Vietnam, we had a guy get a Purple Heart for “shell” fragments in his eye.
He was a cook and they were egg shells! I kid you not! There was a lot of “gaming the system” when I was in.
If it ain’t Clark, then it’s retired AF general Merril Mc Peak. Mc Peak is another idiot supporting Obama. From earlier statements he has made, and noted on this blog, he is borderline anti-semitic, in addition to all the stupid changes he made to the AF just for the sake of change while he was AF Chief of Staff. The man has no sense of history and how things are supposed to work. He just wanted to make a bunch of changes, from uniforms to command structure, so that his imprint would be everywhere.
Vince:
it’s even worse now , and such shenanigans take away from the honor of those who served and suffered then and now… but leave it to a liberal to manipulate their record… uh not that all liberals such as “gen” Clark do that, of course.
When I first heard that Clark went out and made the lame comments about McCain, I thought “Obama sent him out to say THAT?? How ignorant could O be?? This is the kind of surrogate work Obama sends?? Sooo not ready for prime time.”
This hurts Obama and no one else.
I have been wanting to add my two cents about the comments made by the incompetent former General relieved of his command due to his gross incompetence in the former Yugoslavia, but many have beaten me to it. I can only echo their disgust with this worthless POS. There is only other General Office from the Clinton era I would like to spend 5 minutes in a locked room with dim lights is that little SOB Merrill McPeak who did all he could to destroy my Air Force, its regulations, uniforms, enlisted stripes, and force structure before he retired. Over 40 years of history down the tubes in a single swoop!
But someone has to clean up his droppings! I mean, the stench of ignorance and twisted logic are stinkin’ up the place.
To wit:
The silence would be deafening.
If Obama wants a REAL general’s opinion on McCain, maybe he should have gone to Gen. Petraeus.
Oh yeah, his moonbat moveon.org pals would object.
Let me help you with this:
1) Swiftboating is the act of confronting a politician with facts to counter his/her bloviating and resume enhancement.
2) Just because the pol doesn’t admit to the facts (and hides his official records which would clear up the situation one way or the other) means nothing.
3) McCain has never made his military leadership experience central to his campaign (which he certainly could have). He was making the fact that he actually has experience in anything compared to Obambi.
Bobby Jindal would chew up Obama and spit him out, experience and politically speaking.
How by exposing them to the truth? Wouldn’t want to hurt a liberal’s morale by letting them in on the truth now would we. Liberalism truly is a mental disorder.

FIRED FROM POST AS
NATO SUPREME COMMANDER
=================
He was not well liked by other officers.
Just a point (from a newly retired Navy SCPO)
1. A CPO got a hold of McCain early in his career and “Mr. McCain” was receptive to his mentoring.
2. Nobody got a hold of “Mr. Clark” early in his career, therefore you see the monster that parades himself in front of any camera that is on.
I only wonder why no one has brought up the fact that the person criticizing McCain’s record is the same NATO Commander who was fired from that position for being such an inept moron. He didn’t exactly want to retire, he was forced. Of course, they probably also figured out that he’s gay anyway.

I agree whole-heartedly about McPeak. His record was simply one of changing stuff that he found icky while he moved up the ranks. He hated wearing a blue army uniform so he changed it to make us all look like bus drivers or Delta pilots. Wanted a new single-seat fighter so he got rid of two types of vital Electronic Warfare aircraft without replacing them. Now the USAF is scambling to find new jammers. Didn’t like SAC so he got rid of it. Didn’t like navigators so he gutted the career field. I retired from the USAF in 2005 and can see that the service is still trying to dig itself out of the holes that man created.
But every liberal on earth will cart him out to show how wrong Bush and/or how wonderful Obama is.
I remember reading an article years ago (about the time of Kosovo starting) about Clark’s tenure in Panama. It was pretty shocking reading what he was like as a CO. I wish I could find that again…it was pretty damning. Having run into a few like him over the years, you can understand a guy like that in a position like he was in is pretty dangerous.
The articles I did find (in addition to Arizona Neanderthals):
The Putrid Perfumed Prince.
A Perfumed Prince Gets the Axe by David Hackworth.
Wesley Clark: General Issues by Lowell Ponte at FrontPageMag.
Meet the Real General Clark with comments by some who served with him.
A Letter to Stars and Stripes by Col. George Jatras (Ret.).
I still believe with all of the articles above, the one about his command stint in Panama was the most shocking.
The guy is a self-serving snake.
Then I guess we should get the network news agencies taken off of AFN as well. After all, we don’t want to hurt the morale of soldiers abroad of a more conservative persuasion.
