I love the first picture. The soldier kneels down to talk with the boy, and that communicates empathy. It’s precious to see that kind of trust being conveyed to the Iraqis.

Here’s a link to a picture my son sent earlier this year. He said that they saw this scene on a daily basis in Baqubah (after they cleaned house and kicked Insurgent and al Qaeda butt of course)

The picture is of kids chasing the soldiers as they are leaving… look at the expressions on their faces and notice how their hands are open ready to receive something. These children had no fear, at all, of the US Soldiers. It was just months before that they could not even go to school because al Q. was running their town… now look at them!

What a beautiful moment. It captures for me the decency that is within every one of the young men I have met who are on their way to or from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

What the Left doesn’t know about these men, and we in flyover country and small town America DO, is that in addition to being brave, they are good, kind, moral people who care deeply. Harvard, Princeton, and Yale think they contain the best and brightest of America. They are absolutely wrong. The battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan hold our best, and that is why the Left does everything in its power to demonize them. Once they return, perhaps they will begin remaking America in their image. Which would be a horror to Leftists, but a blessing to all of us.
