San Fran mayor Gavin Newsom for governor?
While the Chronicle’s been covering San Francisco’s Honduran crack dealer municipal shuttle service, they’ve also spared some space to write about the gubernatorial ambitions of San Fran’s mayor. Gavin Newsom thinks he’s got what it takes to succeed the Governator.
Jerry Brown–”Governor Moonbeam”–is the front runner right now, believe it or not. Mayor Villaraigosa of LA is on the list as well. For Newsom to get past them he’s going to have to explain away this ridiculous illegal alien drug-dealer ferry service the city’s been running on his watch.
Looks like his strategy for doing that is a big, clumsy, transparent buck-passing:
With his handpicked juvenile probation chief at his side, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom said today that he is powerless to order that the city turn over underage illegal immigrant criminals to federal officials for deportation.
Instead, Newsom said at a City Hall news conference, the question of what to do with illegal immigrant minors who deal drugs and commit other crimes is one for juvenile court judges, the district attorney and public defender to sort out.
There’s just nothing you can do about this problem, Mayor? Well, you’re not particularly effective, are you? Even liberals aren’t buying his dodge. The Chronic’s front page includes this comment from reader “jacobin”:

Mmm….actually, jacobin, I don’t think that’s what Mayor Smoove stays up at night doing. But I do appreciate the San-Fran values rant-fodder. Palomino!

We lived on the Presidio in San Francisco for a year and a half, the public schools were so bad back in the mid 70’s we requested a transfer and went across the country to Virginia. What a refreshing change. When all was said and done, we decided our version of God’s country was Southern Illinois.
There isn’t enough money to make me move back to the cereal state. Fruits Flakes and Nuts. And it has only gotten worse in the last 30 years. Wish none of my tax dollars went to support this travesty of a state. San Francisco – Berkeley – Los Angeles and the home base of the insanity – Sacramento.

I used to live in San Francisco when Feinstein was mayor. The day she left for Congress and the new mayor was sworn in, he found that the city was bankrupt, she’d given all the money away. The city’s credit was shot, bond ratings collapsed, all due to liberal bs. Gavin is another in a long line of idiots to “mayor” that place, including the corrupt Willie Brown.
Gavin runs a city that allows public nakedness and sex in “festivals” like the Folsom Street Fair, which is the center of the world’s deviants. Police stand by (often holding hands themselves) and watch.

This is not the California I knew.
I think this would be good for California for Gavin to be Governor, mainly because of those pesky plastic bags. Forget energy crisis, taxes or any wars, if we don’t rid the planet of these plastic bags we are all doomed by 2014 ( I had to make up a year to fit in with the loons).
I mean, you don’t ever hear of a child suffocating on a cloth or paper bag, do you? Little woodland creatures don’t get their bodies and necks wrapped around paper bags do they? And these plastic bags are causing extra green house gases every time I try to swerve to miss one of those crazy swirling bags loose on the freeway, but instead it gets caught underneath my car, melts and stinks the earth with its pungent, burning aroma.
Besides, plastic bags were a global scheme concocted by Wal-Mart to grow the lower income population attached to them because of their now new endless supply of trash bags they don’t have to pay for. And we all know Wal-Mart stands for BIG corporate America.
2014 folks, we don’t have long!
Donut, I’m a paper-in-plastic guy myself. I continue to be a loyal Whole Foods shopper, but getting rid of plastic bags along with refusing to sell live lobsters and soft shell crabs are decisions that continue to annoy me.
I lived in CA and also in NC. NC is 10 times better than CA. Nice seasons, low cost-of-living and no pollution. Add to that the beaches and the Blue-Ridge mountains, you have CA in NC, only better. TN is right after NC. Lower cost-of-living (no state taxes) but no beaches.

Well, it’s certainly wasn’t the will of the people within his jurisdiction. And I’ve made myself very clear that I don’t care about the will of the people if the will of the people is discrimination. The will of the people didn’t want interracial marriages and the will of the people didn’t want desegregation. The will of the people can bite me.
And Newsom’s actions regarding gay marriage made it a hot button issue. Frankly, he hurt the Dems chances in 2004. But that’s fine with me. He highlighted an important issue at the expense of his party. That takes some bravery and I’m down with that.
Come to Germantown, Tennessee! Beautiful weather most of the year but can be awfully hot and humid during summer. Friendly people, gun owners paradise, patriotic citizens and very affordable housing. Crime rate is very low. I think we had 1 homicide last year. We are a city of about 37,000 and we have our own fireworks display and Christmas parade every year. I lived in Kalifornia for about 2 years in the San Fran area. Didn’t like it much.
There are far more things to worry about in California than a bunch of fairies wanting to tie the knot, I may just vote for it if it’s on the ballot to get this over with. Whatever floats their boat, and reading about the divorces will be good for a laugh.

Well I have wanted to leave for over five years now. We had a vote, we are somewhat democratic here, well most of the time anyway, before my last went to high school and I lost. But all bets are off now I’m free, free to go where ever I decide. I have been researching where to go and it isn’t easy. I have eliminated any perimeter states from my list, living here for as long as I have I can spot not so easily seen trends and in many cases I don’t like what I see. Take in to consideration that I saw the slippery slope when we were just hearing about the nannies attacking cigarettes, I saw the writing on the wall I knew where it would lead and I was not wrong. I have relatives and friends in most of the fifty states I could go anywhere two of them recently bought a house in Colorado I wonder how they feel about the African national anthem being sung there recently?
I have narrowed it down to a few states in the western center of the country, thought about moving to Nevada but coming from a state that has Boxer and Feinstein I cant stomach moving to a state where Harry is the man, I consider that a step down.
