NPR journo suggests politicians quit using the P-word.
For NPR fixture Daniel Schorr, as for many lefty journalists, it’s always 1953 and McCarthy is always sniffing out communists. Even now when it’s John McCain “suggesting” that Wesley Clark’s attack on his service record was an “unprovoked act of unpatriotism”.
McCain didn’t actually say that, mind you. Daniel Schorr just thought he had “suggested it”. (When you’re a long-standing member of the elite media, see, you get these psychic powers.)
Patriotism has been “corrupted by misuse”, Schorr insists, and he has “come to suspect most assertions of patriotism, and most accusations of unpatriotism”. I like his description of patriotism: “Patriotism is not a matter of lapel pins, or flags in your front yard. And you get to define patriotism for yourself.” Yep–as long as that definition doesn’t include lapel pins.
His solution to the heart-ache inducing use of patriotism in politics? That politicians and their surrogates “declare a moratorium on references to patriotism”.
So, politicians, please make no mention of patriotism on Independence Day. Liberals hate it when you say the P-word.

Well its good to see that Schorr hasn’t changed with age, he’s just as ridiculous and pompous as he always has been.
Well See-Dubya, I don’t think I can blame them much. They shouldn’t use words they don’t understand.
Ok wait, the Daniel Schorr who must be about 115 by now? “It’s alive!”
Second, NPR and “elite” in the same sentence?
Third, he said, “And you get to define patriotism for yourself”, so I offer my definition: Patiotism is the color blue. Or is blue the answer to a new math question…maybe – ok, Patriotism is making sure you live the American dream, even if you have to throw your family and friends under the bus while a crook gets you a deal on a house that comes with a no points loan.

I was thinking about NPR & PBS today. When the patriots of the colonies wanted to express their independence, they literally attacked and sabotaged oppressors and the objects of oppression. When NPR & PBS actively undermine and attack our free society they set themselves up as the enemy of the people. Their actions go way beyond freedom of speech. They are calculating and agenda driven to dismantle what too many Americans gave their life for. They, as cowards, hide behide what they claim are their 1st Amendment rights. I’m for challenging them with our own expressions of freedom however that may work itself out in this present day and age.
What I can’t figure out, Obama said wearing the U.S. flag lapel pin was a false patriotism. Then he flip flops and is seen wearing the American flag pin. That’s right Obama, wearing an American flag pin now doesn’t make you a patriot.
American patriotism has to do with pride of being an American and pride in America,(that leaves Michelle Obama out) and defending American values and culture. Willing to serve in uniform and standing post protecting our culture, our soil, our Constitution and flag.
American patriotism is paying honor to those who gave their life’s so those Americans who don’t believe in America will have that Constitutional right to bad mouth America.
American patriotism is something few lefty liberals understand or will never experience. By not knowing patriotism and experiencing patriotism, they fear patriotism.

The reason that Liberals abhor Patriotism and Religion is that they reject the existence of any societal structure greater than themselves.

Could it be due to B.O. refusing to salute the flag, B.O.’s best friends being 60’s terrorists, B.O. attending a church for 20 years that hates the United States, B.O. having a campaign headquarters with Che’s picture proudly and prominently on the wall, B.O.’s wife has never been proud of her country, etc., etc. etc..

Schorr turns 92 at the end of next month. You would think that by now he would be down in Florida worshipping the Early Bird.
And I thought that the oldest man on talk radio is former sportscaster Bill Mazer, 87, who has a weekday afternoon talk show on WVOX-AM in New Rochelle, just north of New York City. Mazer is an old-style JFK liberal whose opinions are tempered by his World War II service in the Air Transport Command.

Daniel Schorr does not have a very distinguished history in the broadcast industry. Back in 1975 or 1976, Schorr leaked some documents that he had no business getting his hands on. I don’t recall the details but I think it had something to do with the CIA. When his bosses at CBS caught him, Schorr lied and blamed everything on Leslie Stahl. Stahl was then a yong correspondent at CBS News. Schorr had to resign but my memory is that when he finally fessed up about how he lied and blamed Stahl, he was only protecting the peoples’ right to know. When journalists do something that they know is immoral, they almost always hide behing the Freedom of Information Act, as if that has anything to do with the journalist’s misconduct.
Sorry, forgot to add a word above. When Schorr was caught lying, he SAID he was protecting the peoples right to know! To quote from the classic song “Seasons of Love”: Bah humbug! Dan is probably down at the early bird special at the St. Petersburg Applebys enjoying the early bird special and talking about the good old days of chasing Nixon.

Patriotism is the highest form of dissent!
There are many in Congress who can’t stand the word “patriotism”. It might bring to light, their negative image of the country. They could care less about the country; only interested in power. To be patriotic is to support the Constitution and the principles/values of what made this country great. That is totally against their philosophies. Unfortunately, many voters agree, being brain-washed into thinking Marxism/Socialism is the way to go. It isn’t. The end result will be government control of every aspect of our lives, and more money/power in the politicians’ hands. They hate the military too, because people seeking absolute power know, throughout history, that the military can throw them out. Naturally, they want to keep alive this country’s natural suspicion of a standing army.
My fav “P” word….. Pasta!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see how well this country would prosper if we got rid of all the liberals, socialists, unpatriotics, illegals, etc.
They don’t want to be reminded that we fought and won our independence from Britain and are a free country. They want us to become like them, communists.
I can see where Daniel Schorr and the rest of NPR and the Left would object to the P word being Patriotic. I for one object to NPR–the Not Patriotic Radio. Mr Schorr, Wesley Clark, Michael Moore, Obama and Mama and the rest of them have my permission to “declare a moratorium on references to patriotism”.
I am up quite early this Glorious Fourth to put out both my Independance Day Flags-Stars and Stripes and the Gadsen.Patriotism runs deep in my veins and I DO question, actually deny, the patriotism of the Daniel Schorrs of this world. But I do not question the Patriotism of Barack Hussein Obama and Mama. I am sure they are patriotic to the Caliphate, Marx and the Weather Underground.

Here is what Dan Schorr did that ended his career at CBS News. In 1975, Schorr got his hands on a House Intelligence Committee report investigating “misconduct” on the part of the CIA. The House Intelligence Committee, then and now, was firmly in the hands of left wing Democrats and the report lambasted the CIA. Schorr demanded that CBS News do a special report. CBS News refused. So Schorr raleased the documents to the left wing Village Voice. When Schorr was asked by his boss at CBS what he knew about the Village Voice getting the House report, Schorr lied and said Leslie Stahl must have stolen it from right off his desk and given it to her boyfriend.Stahl convincingly proved that this was a lie. Schorr finally fessed up when it became apparent that he could no longer credibly maintain his lie. But Schorr insisted that he was protecting the public’s right to know and so there was a greater good to what he did and the heck with Leslie Stahl. It was perhaps inevitable that NPR would bring Schorr in from the cold. But until his latest attack on McCain, I thought Schorr was down at the St. Petersburg Appleby’s having the early bird special and boring fellow diners with his tales of the time he got the goods on Nixon.
I’ve been very ambivalent about this election and pretty much resigned to voting for the most conservative 3rd party candidate.
If these Obama backers keep it up, I may just end up voting for McCain without even needing a clothespin! They are making the contrast that much more stark.

NPR is stuffed with people like this. His wikepedia bio mentions him stabbing Goldwater with a gratuitous smear 10 years before he he attempted to do a job on Ms Stahl. This hack should have been dropped in the Forget File over 40 years ago.

One thing that I have learned in life is that if you tell someone something that they themselves know is not true, they usually do not get too defensive or angry about it. Tell someone that they are unpatriotic, when they know that it is not true and they will defend themselves, but will not get out of hand and will usually just walk away with the thought that they do not care what you think.
Tell someone the truth, some truth they do not want to hear, and stand back, because that person will fight like a cornered badger.

Unfortunately, you and I both donate to NPR. If we had a conservative congress with a set of b***s, we would be able to wean them off the federal teat.
Liberals have no use for patriotism which is why they always label it as “jingoism.” They think love of country and what it stands for is unhip, corny, anti-intellectual, uncouth, backwards. They posit themselves as above that sort of thing. They’re cosmpolitan, they’re “citizens of the world.” They are so smart and so sensitive, they alone see the bad things the rest of us toothless hicks don’t want to acknowledge.
NPR has people like that in spades.
I would suggest that PBS stop using the P-word. For they are the least PATRIOTIC of all MSM, on a regular basis…
Schorr and his ilk have been giving aid and comfort to America’s enemies for decades. In his mind, the true enemy of America is the right wing here at home.

Any questions? Liberals are not patriots, nor are they patriotic. I mean, I fail to understand why there is confusion. It is not an adjective, it isn’t one of those words that can adopt different meanings when used in different contexts.

My father was a career Air Force Officer and I am a former United States Marine. I dare you to try telling me to my face what I should think patriotism is.
Just make sure you have a few trusted friends with you because you probably won’t be able to drive home.
I will stop using the word patriotism when journalists stop saying disenfranchised and draconian. I am proud to say that I am not just a patriot but a nationalist. I have no interest in being a globalist or a citizen of the world.
Daniel Schorr is one of NPR’s worst living dead reporters. Any advice from this ancient toad must be studiously rejected. Journalists declared God dead, a moratorium on patriotism, an end to American greatness, and helped make our Declaration of Independence and Constitution pieces of paper – mere words that can be changed at a moment whim by 9 judges , 4 of whom have neither honor, patriotism, love of God and country, and who would rather no law than our Constitution. How it must gall Kennedy, Souter, Ginsburg etc, to read the lines explicitly proclaiming that our rights come from the Creator, not government, not Nancy Pelosi, and not them. Being mortal, these scum bags will soon return to the dust they came from, and their words and decisions will be studied in the future and looked at with contempt and shame that such judges were ever permitted the honor of the Supreme Court. Daniel Schorr already looks half dead, and what remains stinks.
