Read Lawrence Wright’s The Looming Tower if you have not already. It is an outstanding history of Osama bin Laden, Al Qaida and extreme Islam. Takfir is the Wahabbist philosophy of essentially having someone or some group of people condemned as apostate. This gives these self-righteous bastards the “religious” cover they want before murdering someone. Trust me, Islam is not a unified religion. It is a confused melange of philosophies, often at odds with itself, and grounded in endless self-loathing and hatred for the West.

Gunmen have killed the head of the UN Development Programme in Somalia, UN officials say.

I pray for Mr. Osman Ali Ahmed’s soul, and eternal judgment for all who struck him down.

That said, I can’t imagine that UN leadership will be dishing out their usual “we must understand the root causes of this situation” crap that they like to thumb into others’ eyes during these painful moments.

There are places in this country that are effectivelly passing out of our jurisdiction. I am talking of defined geographic locations of from 200 to 20,000 people probably. Over one in five adults in these places is either an illegal alien, a fugitive with a warrant or a parole violator. The normal existing judicial and political mechanisms are not functioning in these cases. The real threat can exploit this weakness to infiltrate. We need to clean these places out. If you are so afraid of the black helicopter squad coming for you then go off into the woods. As long as you don’t infringe on anyone else’s liberty I have no problem with you and I will be willing to stand up for you. But don’t let your concern about stupid and abusive government agents, a concern I share, stop us from crafting reasonable defenses against real threats.

What you propose is the dissolution of a free society. You can’t have a free state and a police state in the same place at the same time, which is what you’re advocating. It wasn’t howling maniacs that killed those millions, it was government agents.
Your analogy with aircraft isn’t valid. You’re talking about locking down our communities and homes for inspection by govenment agents. That’s nothing less than totalitarianism. If you think such power wouldn’t be usurped and abused you’re naive beyond belief. Look to history and you can foretell the consequences.
If you want to protect a free society you need freedom, not government control. If you don’t have the guts to stand up and defend your birthright as an American there are plenty of us willing to shoulder the burden for you.

As they analyzed the results, they were surprised to learn that one out of every 100 detainees was already in the FBI’s database for arrests. Many arrests were for drunken driving, passing bad checks and traffic violations, FBI officials said.

Meaning, they were here when those crimes were committed.

Hmmm? Makes me wonder when they were here. Was it after 9/11 and adding an entry/exit system, improvements we have made to our border security …?

I’m thinking we have a win-win solution on our hands. “Islamist gunmen want to make sure that Somalia remains poor and backward” and we want the U.S. to be free and prosperous.

Let’s crate up D’ohbama and ship him to Somalia. His economic policies will keep Somalia poor and backward.

In the meantime, Pres. McCain can export to Somalia all the pork he’ll trim from the federal budget.

Oh be still my wildly beating heart. Would that that said when you move to America you are under American Law. We had better be remembering what our laws are and start enforcing them or we will be in deep deep stuff.

I remember Benny Bennefield from the sixth grade. He was our schoolyard terrorist (bully). He got what he wanted from the other kids by threats of physical harm. One day he came up against Tim Masterson on the baseball diamond. Not good for Benny. The ‘school yard’ is now the world and ‘Benny’ is still running around threatening ‘the other kids’.

I don’t understand the fear the world governments (the other kids) have of Moslems. You people need to read the Koran and understand that to Moslems there are only two kinds of people in the world––Moslems and those with whom Islam is at war!

MM has called it the ‘religion of perpetual rage’ and that is so very right. It is a religion of hate, sanctioned murder (even of family members, witness the daily news) and if they can’t find anyone close by they will feed their piranha-like lust for killing on each other and make up an excuse.

Hooray for the English judge who said that it doesn’t matter what your religious law was back home, when you move to England you are under British law and that’s that. If only our judges had those stones.

Not sorry here. Preventing the dissolving of the free society that protects us from howling maniacs that killed those millions is why some action is needed. If we can’t permit the police to sort the goats from the sheep when it is reasonable to check then we are simply giving the enemy a weapon. Understand I am not calling for unlimited domestic warrantless searches. My intent is to protect the 4th Amendment and construct reasonable tools. When the AG can convince a Judge that a critical percentage of persons in a given location are probably fugitives then he should be able to get in there and inspect everyone. Similarly when you get on an airplane there is a reasonable need for the government to verify your identity. Where such inspections can be justified is something to keep an eye on.
