*Yawn*

I'm dealing with Mike Bloomberg. DC is so retarded they elected a mayor who got caught smoking crack with a prostitute- TWICE, they elected him.

NYC with Wall Street and everything only appears to be ahead of that curve. They still want to rob us of guns, though- Bloomberg directly said he sees no problem with the way their laws are written- that it poses no conflict.

But Bloomberg only wants our money. When he can figure out how to tax bullets, he'll modify his stance.

My Smith & Wesson Model 66 .357 is actually my favorite handgun. But, I also like my Ruger P90 9mm and my Colt 1911 .45.

His Honor, the Mayor, really needs to read a dictionary to see the definition of "Handgun". He can't come along later and try to say "handgun" means revolvers, but not semi-auto's. Liberals have tried for years to alter the definition of the Constitution. They STILL haven't learned their lesson. I guess they need to lose a few more lawsuits.

On July 8th, 2008 at 12:22 am, Rusty said:
Jim M., the money that DC gets from the feds remains very limited. For example, there are certain things (like needle exchange programs, for example) that we’re not allowed to spend the money on.

Said with a straight face?

The appropriation for 2005 was over $8 BILLION (with a "B"). How many other cities receive that kind of windfall from the federal government?

Yes, there are restrictions on how the money is used (after all, this comes from taxpayers across the US). But that amount of money allows the DC government to use its other revenues as mad money, which they can spend like drunken sailors (or democrats). In short, the federal teat that DC sucks off of is a recipe for abdication of any and all responsibility and rational decision making. If they screw up, Congress will bail them out.

Even minority-owned businesses that get a tax break from DC move out as soon as they can. DC is a liberal town, unfriendly to business, which they regard as money trees which they can harvest endlessly.

The numbers don't back that up. Businesses are booming here. And companies do not move out. Don't underestimate the value of an address. Having an office on K Street is priceless to some people. L Street? Eh. Bethesda? Oh, hell no.

The liberals are not going to give up on this. The constitution to them is just some nice words on an old parchment. It's a speedbump on the road to socialism.
I dont see much changing in DC. While you may be able to possess a handgun, I'll bet the law that requires a trigger lock and ammunition stored in another room will still be in effect. You cant buy a gun outside of DC and bring it in. Your shotguns and rifles will still have to be stored broken down. I next look for a ban on ammunition. I dont think the constitution covers that. If not an outright ban then it will be illegal to transport ammunition into DC.
DC was a sewer when I was a kid 50 years ago and it still is. Its only redeeming factor is the National Zoo and the Smithsonian. The rest of it can break off and float down the Potomac to be used for Naval gunnery practice as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I watched Fenty make this statement on the news and I commented at Arms and the Law. After I calmed down a little, the attorney in me started thinking. Yes, if this moron chooses to push it, the issue will be litigated. However, based on current D.C. law and the Heller decision, Fenty doesn't have a legal leg to stand on. First, with regard to full auto's, he can maintain that ban based on Federal law, except for the few with the appropriate federal license. However, there is NO D.C. ordinance that excepts out semi-auto's from revolvers. Consequently, the Heller decision is the clear controlling law of the land and Fenty will get beat like a red-headed step-child if this goes to court. Sounds like time for summary judgment as a matter of law.

It's wrong but here's where the mayor is getting his angle from

Whatever the reason, handguns are the most popular weapon chosen by Americans for self-defense in the home, and a complete prohibition of their use is invalid.

Good thing he didn't think to restrict use to TC, derringers, and blackpowder muzzle loaders
