BO: We got “carried away” letting our daughters talk to Access Hollywood
Yesterday’s lead story on this site was the Obamas’ decision to parade their daughters in front of Access Hollywood’s cameras during a family birthday celebration.
On the Today Show this morning, Barack Obama stumbled his way through an ashen-faced acknowledgment that, golly gee, maybe it wasn’t such a good idea and, uh, he’s slow.
Watch and listen carefully:
He’s got no one to blame but himself for this bad judgment call that wasn’t, to borrow Michelle O’s phrase, good for his kids. Yet, Obama makes it seem as though the cameras just magically appeared from nowhere, taking him by surprise. As if the four-part interview were a spur of the moment decision that “suddenly…cropped up.” Horse-hockey you can believe in.
I’ve transcribed the exchange:
LAUER: …some people said wait a minute, the senator is trying to have it both ways. On the one hand, you want to protect your private life. On the other hand, here you are sitting with your two daughters and allowing them to answer questions. Did you make the right call on that?
OBAMA: Uh, you know, I think that we, uh, got carried away in the moment. We were having a birthday party and everybody was laughing, and suddenly this thing cropped up. And, uh, I didn’t catch it quickly enough. And I was surprised by the attention it received as well.
LAUER: Senator, if you had to do it over again?
OBAMA: Yah, I won’t be doing it again and we won’t be doing it again.
A four-part interview that probably entailed hours of set-up, makeup, mic checks, and post-wrap schmoozing…and he “didn’t catch it quickly enough.”
Snort.

Kids say the darnedest things!
Oh, and speaking of judgment:
Obama’s lack of understanding exposed again
Obama flip flops again. Now I want him to flip flop on his perpetual ‘embarrassment’ of America. I’m so tired of being told what’s wrong with this country. Based on Obama he should be taking his kids and running to some other, better country. According to him, there are plenty of better ones out there.
If only someone would “carry away” the Obamas. And grab Lauer, too, while they’re at it.
I think his kids have alot more to say about daddy dearest they probably dont want out in public.
Go figure.
I like that “I didn’t catch it quickly enough”…..
What a load of crap!
Flimflam Obama was doing exactly what his handlers told him to do: get face time in front of the vacuous pinhead audience of Access Hollywood.
Did anyone catch the Early Show (or whatever it is called) on CBS this morning asking the presumptive Democrat candidate how he would handle the Iran missile firing (chest beating) if he were the president?
And did you catch the equal time afforded McCain (crickets chirping).
Nice. Balanced. No bias here.
Obama is an idiot. Put up a teleprompter with someone elses words and he can read them and flail his fingers around. When he is on his own he practicly stutters and STUPID chit comes out of his mouth.

If he doesn’t possess the emotional maturity, wisdom or sheer desire to protect his family over his own selfish ambitions, then I have to wonder, in times when things “just suddenly crop up,” that are matters of national security, will he get “carried away” when “everybody is laughing” or thinking something else, and not “catch it quickly enough?”
I’m holding out for something better, thanks.
Mylie Cyrus was not ahannable for comment.
When Hilliary Clinton put her daughter in front of the cameras to gain support David Shuster of MSNBC said: “But doesn’t it seem like Chelsea’s sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?”
Yeah that’s the kind of person we need as POTUS – someone that slow on the uptake!
I’m not a fan of the Fairness Doctrine.
Assign this response a number like the prison jokes, because if he’s elected you’ll be hearing it over and over.
Hilarious. The Obamas were ambushed by Access Hollywood!
I still love the family.
Ouch!
Now, that wasn’t a racist comment referring to the black candidate as a pimp is it?
Uh, I think, uh, this guy is, uh, in, uh, over his head.
The Wizard of Uhhhs strikes again.
I guess it didn’t help Michelle Obama’s kids…
LOL
Obviously, not. It msut have interferred with the piana lessons, ballet, etc.
pianapianoI must have been typing with phonetics from my accent.
Surprise!
He should just step down now…
I just want to know why he did’nt do the interview in French, so he did’nt look as stupid as he thinks some of us seem to be in his opinion. He is embarrased that we don’t speak french
Careful Michelle you might be accused of mean spiritedness by the
lawyerscoelenterates on the board. Har.Gee, I hope Iran doesn’t try to get anything by Obama that he might not catch quickly enough.

Obama happened to be on the show when the story was breaking, thus they were able to get some instant feedback. McCain’s camp (understandably) hadn’t had any sort of time to fashion a response, so not much equal time the could give him.
BO and MO just love the limelight. And WOW, Matt can ask difficult questions!
The differences in responses between the two candidates regarding the Iranian provocations may be the best clue as to how they will differ once one of them is in power.
Bush the Third (term): I highly doubt McCain will be any more effective than Bush in any area. If anything, McCain is even more insecure and desperate for liberal approval. Considering Iran as an example: it will be tough talk, then soft talk, then appeals for international action — nothing will happen — then more talk and repeat. In the meantime, the gradual annihilation of American sovereignty will continue. Eventually, not too many years really, the two trends will collide and it will be over.
Obama the Magnificent (Obamagnificent?): At least with Obama the slow torture will be dispensed with and the end of America will happen very quickly indeed.
But here’s my big question –
Why is Barack Obama giving “sit down” interviews to Access Hollywood? Joel McHale makes fun of Access Hollywood and its companion shows every week on “The Soup” for spending so much time focusing on papparazzi-inspired gossip (”oh my goodness, look at what so and so wore to the club last night!!”)
Obama’s ego is at least three sizes too big. Come on McCain and the GOP, you HAVE to turn this around!!!
he got carried away – that is scary!
If it had been anyone else we would already be talking about the “out-takes” that were being shown on You Tube …
Yep … that’s the person the libs want answering that 3:00 AM phone call in the White House …
Another example of his lack of judgement for all to see …
Yeah, that guy Obama is the worst thing ever – too bad he’s not like McCain

What’s interesting about Hopenchange’s rationalization isn’t so much its transparent lack of candor as much as the fact that scores of millions of Americans will buy it without question.
We are perilously close to having this man become President based on nothing more than idol worship and a cult of personality.
Barack Hussein Obama, drug addict, is so far out of his league that it is becoming painful. Let’s pray that the RNC and John McCain are ready to take advantage of this pitiful candidate.
Iran:
1) BHO is AGAINST attacking Iran EVER. We never will Iran. This is final.
2) He wants to talk DIRECTLY to Iran. Iran knows BHO will NEVER attack Iran EVER. How will ever be taken seriously in these talks?
3) To BHO, Iran having nuclear weapons is a much better scenario than America or Israel attacking Iran and preventing Iran from having these nukes.
Conclusion: BHO and Democrats WANT Iran to have nukes.
No wonder all tyrants and despots want Democrats “running” this country.
Can you imagine the answer that the low IQ BHO will give if he (God forbid) ever becomes commander-in-chief and there is a crisis?
“Uh, I don’t know what to do [scratching his head monkey-like]; um, on the one hand, maybe we should. . .on the other hand, uh, like. . .”
I really prefer Hopey McChangerson to Hopenchange.
He’ll be @ a high school near here (Robinson HS in Fairfax County) tomorrow having a townhall meeting. My family is going…ugh.
Same problem, Obambi has no judgement.
Who? John McCain or Barack Hussein Obama? I live not far from Robinson. If it is John McCain, maybe I will go.
I’ve noticed a lot more John McCain bumpers stickers in liberal Fairfax County lately. I would say there even more John McCain bumper stickers than Obama these days. Not a great sign for the Obamunist. He’ll still get the dumb vote, but I think there will be a huge turnout of conservatives this election just to protect our nation from Hussein.
Obama has the maturity and intelligence level of an average dopey high school student. Putting this guy into power would be sure destruction for our nation. People are waking up, judging by the increased John McCain bumper stickers.
Obamessiah is as dumb as his supporters. Perfect. Why is this happening to my country?
Obama, Gabe, not McCain.
Oh, and I don’t think I’ve seen any McCain stickers around here.
I’ll be staying away then. Robinson High School though is a perfect venue for Barack Hussein Obama. It was built in the liberal manner of its time: no windows and very socialist architecture with “subschools.” 90% of the classrooms have no windows and the whole school resembles a dungeon. I teach at a Catholic school, and if I had kids I would not place them in Fairfax County socialist schools no matter what.
I’m hoping that all this hype about Hussein Obama will backfire soon, and I think it might. The average American (even young person) will start rebelling against this rock star status.
I live in Fairfax Station, and I’ve seen plenty in West Springfield, Fairfax Station, and Burke. . .a lot more recently than before. You would think with all the hype, there would be tons of Obama stickers, but the number doesn’t seem to be increasing.
Someone around here is adding a large ‘note’ to the bottom of obama yard signs, they now read:
‘OBAMA
is a liar’
You think? I don’t know. People can be very stupid. I just hope McCain will come out and talk frankly about Obama’s weaknesses. It seems that has been a weakness of Bush, that he’s never defended his administration, or pointed out the flaws in his opponents
I hardly remember Chelsea speaking a word until she was of age. Amy Carter had a little more to say. But it’s not as bad as Michael Jackson dangling his baby over the balcony railing. Gotta give them that. I just searched for Obama daughters on youtube. It’s there already.
I definitely agree. The Reagan generation is overwhelmingly conservative thanks to Reagan communicating conservative ideals, but young people these days are for Obama. I liked how Dan Quayle took on the culture. Bush has never done that. Meanwhile, in Fairfax County schools they are dumbing down the population with fuzzy math and multiculturalism. Kids then turn to pop culture because it is more interesting than what they are “learning” in school.
President Bush never took on the media or Democrats, and so kids have received for the past seven years a liberal message. Hopefully, they will start rebelling against it and the Hussein hype. . .before Hussein destroys the country.
All these gaffes by Hussein look promising.
Gabe, the bottom line on the middle east is that since we decided Iraq was a more important target than the Taliban, Iran’s influence in the region has increased exponentially as a direct result of our involvement. Tehran is much more influential in Iraq than the US is, both with Sadr and Maliki, and no one will ever lead Iraq without Iran’s backing. In addition, due to the US’s complete impotence in the region, Iran can feel free to support whatever proxy wars it feels like in Gaza and Lebanon, and we can only sit with our hands tied.
And you feel better strategically by electing someone who 1) said the Iraq war would be a piece of cake because there was no prior history of Sunni-Shiite violence, and 2) believes (or at least believed) that Shiite Iran is backing Sunni al Qaeda in Iraq.
Talk about being over his head. Whether or not you prefer that we be McCain-hawkish, we at least need someone who has a clue what is going so that we don’t commit any further disasters.
All McCain has to do is add McCain 08 to it and you have the perfect bumper sticker.
You know, there’s something about a president with 70% disapproval that people don’t give a rat’s ass what he says about their culture. Dan Quayle looked like a buffoon taking on 2Pac, who went on to sell 75 million albums no matter what a stuffy white guy said about him.
Furthermore, the notion I keep hearing from Republicans that the White House isn’t committed to defending itself in the media is probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life. “Mission Accomplished” … “last throes” … Katrina “relief” efforts being nothing more than Karl Rove playing cover-your-ass … outing Valerie Plame to overcome the fact that they hyped Saddam’s nuclear ambitions, over the CIA’s objections.
If there’s anything the White House does not lack, it’s PR. If George Bush so much as acknowledges the 4.5 million displaced Iraqis under his watch, then maybe you’ll have a point.
I’m still trying to figure out what “aggressive diplomacy” is.
Wow, Our Lord and Savior really knows how to deliver teh FAIL
I wonder what it is his kids had to say. Is it what they learned at home. Just think with Michelle Obama as a mother I’m sure it’s plenty racist and oh how daddy would make such a good president. God save us!
B Husein O “..suddenly it just cropped up..”
Yeh-right!!!The cameras just suddenly appeared.
We citizens of the U.S. have two Pres. candidates bowing to La Raza this week-end>>>
SO>>>We have a
Liar…..and a
Lote
By the way, we all know that Obama isn’t the only person who favors high level negotiations with Iran — Robert Gates our defense secretary would be another — and of course we do talk to Iran often, but at lower levels.
If we want peace in Iraq, we at least have to try to work with the country propping up Iraq. Not to do so would be like negotiating with Poland during the Cold War, but not talking to the USSR. Thanks to us, Iran and Iraq are increasingly one in the same, and that’s not going to change.
I am definitely not an Obama supporter but, if anything I liked the interviews and thought it made them more likeable. I’m not voting for him–but I thought it actually worked in their favor and don’t see why he told Matt he wouldn’t do it again–oh yeah, politics. Nothing seems to be the truth.
Baloney…he was using his kids for political gain. When will people open their eyes and see him for what he is (and, for what he isn’t)?
News flash dude. They removed over 500 tons of yellowcake in Iraq this week.
Having diplomat relations which a crack pipe is involed.
Hit the nail on the head. It’s another attemp to attach himself to Kennedy (after the last attempted LIE failed).
You’re confusing him with Rush Limbaugh.
You could watch it, for starters, and see that you’re wrong on both counts. They’re 7 and 10, for pete’s sake. All they had to say was that they think their dad’s a bad dresser.
Hardly. None of my friends (who are all mid 20s to early 30s) have moved an inch to the right, and McCain makes us queasy. I can only guess that he won’t be featured on Access Hollywood anytime soon because if he were at the butt end of the kind of gentle ribbing Obama’s kids gave him he’d probably call his family a bunch of “c*nts” and go on some sort of furious, Hulk-like rampage.
When BO lies, Matt Lauer gets a thrill somewhere…
nyk said: I can only guess that he won’t be featured on Access Hollywood anytime soon because if he were at the butt end of the kind of gentle ribbing Obama’s kids gave him he’d probably call his family a bunch of “c*nts” and go on some sort of furious, Hulk-like rampage.
Yes. I guess it lacks the subtle humor of:
Not quite.
Oh sorry – I thought that was Spitzer…
Excuse me. I meant crack pot deplomicy…I guess it’s one in the same though.
nyklehead is at it again…
Shouldn’t the above scare you all?
nyk,
When the country comes to it’s senses and dodges the Obama train derails you and your friends will be saying to yourselves (just like the fabled Manhatten socialite/model after the McGovern disaster)
“I don’t understand it. Everbody I know voted for Obama!”
Better stock up on Pepto Bismol. (Although I’m sure a lot of conservative will need it as well.)
Hope your right JSR.
Sounds like ya’ll are “stuck on stupid”.
So during the primary, it was okay for the family to be interviewed by 60 Minutes, but it’s not okay for the family to be interviewed for the general election. Got it.
That’s not McCain, that’s just the drugs.
Lacks humor AND originality! You’re two for two!
Not after the last two elections. No one is surprised anymore to see the unthinkable candidate win. My point was simply that, in contrast to a prior poster’s comment, I highly doubt McCain will suddenly snag the youth vote from Obama.
Actually, ignoring his political failings, I think he has a sense of humour.
You and your young friends are forgiven, but after Obama raises your taxes to say, 50% and you wait in gas lines for an hour at a time, and 20% inflation makes a home unaffordable, my guess is you’ll be inching right…In my lifetime (and I’m not that old) we have had a 91% Federal tax rate. That’s right, 91% of what you made (if you made enough) went to DC, and say another 10% to the state. Can you say Negative? In my working lifetime it was 70% and 10%. The 20% you got to keep inflated so fast it was worthless. The Dems were in charge. You have been warned.
I just looked up the translation of our fine English word “SNOB” into some of the languages Obama sneers at us for not speaking.
en français: SNOB
en español: SNOB
auf Deutsch: SNOB
in italiano: SNOB
i dansk: SNOB
Some things seem to be so universal that even space aliens who spontaneously appear out of nowhere to video a child’s birthday party for Access Hollywood would understand them.
The picture of Sen. Obama and his family is upside down on the main page. A nice touch, I think.
That’s what happens when you make your decisions from a emotional trigger. It’s funny how Nyk claims to have gone to an excellent school and yet has no capacity to make a well rationalized and informed decision based of well researched facts and quality information. In Nyk’s case if you can’t get it from MTV or Vanity Fair it’s all lies.
Michelle Obama and his Parental Decision making seems questionable…at best. Interview was taped a week ago, and they had to see it before realizing what a dumb decision it was.
Well, I know when those TV cameras came out of nowhere at my kid’s birthday party we just said ‘No.’
Riiight….
This from the guy who spends nearly all his time here writing juvenile insults about how he’s going to lay people “out cold” and telling others to “kiss his arse.” Not exactly a pillar of wisdom or insight. Kinda makes his criticisms laughable (and moot).
AlohaGuy, I appreciate your post, and I don’t doubt that I may become more conservative on some ideas, but I 1) don’t envision the future under Obama you paint, 2) it’s not solely an issue of age, because there are plenty of people older than me who fervently support his candidacy. Enough, in fact, that it doesn’t seem entirely unlikely that he’ll be our next president.
Who exactly is a pillar of insight for you? Er um oh eeee, wait a sec, er um Obama?
Nyk, your comment to AlohaGuy intrigues me.
What is your picture of the future with Obama as president?
Everyone will get a pony.
The world will like us.
Whitey will get what is coming to them.
nyk. I was going to let this one go but since you brought it up again I’ll fix it for you.
nyk,
Aloha paints a picture where taxes go up dramatically for not only the rich but also the middle class. Given his policy proposals there really is no other option. Aside from saving Social Security and Universal Health Care, he has made scores of proposals that have to be funded. I have reviewed his policies on his websight as well as his Blueprint for Change and they are loaded with new spending as well as tax credits for likely Obama voters. Have you or any of your friends done the same? Can you explain where this money will come from? The country is already drowning in debt and saying ending the Bush tax cuts for the rich won’t even begin to cover the new spending. What exactly do you envision if not higher taxes?
That’s the Yahoo headline right now. If elected, can you imagine him leading as Commander in Chief? That’s a trait we want! “Second thoughts” after any decision he makes.
It’s no coincidence that incident after incident Obama comes out after the fact and apologizes, usually saying he knew nothing about it.
All this is part of his sneaky strategy. His supporters say and do the dirty work, make their point aided and abetted by the MSM (who are leading his campaign) then he conveniently denounces whatever it was. In some cases that is. He spins some of it depending on which way the wind is blowing.
How about this possible future response by Obama:
President OBAMA: Uh, you know, I think that I, uh, got carried away in the moment. I was having a Military budget cutting party and everybody was laughing, and suddenly this thing cropped up. And, uh, I didn’t catch it quickly enough. And I was surprised by the attention it received as well.
President Obama response to Iranian nuke attack on Israel.
Ain’t that the truth – um, 20’s and 30’s? Gee wiz – he’s got an abundance of knowledge, experience and all around life under his belt now doesn’t he. We should all be heeding what he says.
Seeing as Obama’s a Democrat, I’m sure that’s true as well. (And it wouldn’t matter if he were African American as a Democratic candidate. Kerry and Gore and Clinton could also count on black votes. Alan Keyes, for example, could not.) As is the statement about the youth demographic — regardless of race or ethnicity — which overwhelmingly supports Obama. To say you were “fixing” it for me implies the original statement was erroneous, but it wasn’t. Both are true.
Rationality about future invasions of other countries and commitments to new wars, without underestimations of lives and dollars it will cost and the time it will take; preservation and protection of pro-choice laws; appointments to the SCOTUS that will keep it from leaning further rightward; no more suggestions of ludicrous amendments to prevent people who love each other from getting married; an end to prohibitions that hinder scientific progress and discovery put into place simply to pander to a small segment of the society; greater transparency from the White House; a VP who doesn’t try to assert that s/he is his/her own branch of government; an EPA that isn’t consistently forced to change its findings; a president less committed to the idea of staying every course to save face. I could go on, but you get the picture.
