Dallas county official: “Black hole” is racist!
I swear I just snorted up my breakfast over this story. A Dallas County commissioner is demanding that a colleague apologize for using the term “black hole.” The unhinged official called the phrase racist and insisted on replacing it with… “white hole.”
Via the Dallas Morning News (hat tip – JWF):
A special meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets turned tense and bizarre this afternoon.
County commissioners were discussing problems with the central collections office that is used to process traffic ticket payments and handle other paperwork normally done by the JP Courts.
Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections “has become a black hole” because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.
Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud “Excuse me!” He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a “white hole.”
That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.
Next on the p.c. forbidden list: black box, Blackberry, blackjack, and blackout. Oh, and all black Crayola crayons, which shall henceforth be called “African-American.”

They must be products of the public education system. I expect to see/hear them on some PBS/NPR program in the near future explaining how talking about an astronomical anomaly is racist.

Of note, it was the eminent physicist John Wheeler who originally came up with the term “Black Hole”. He was also mentor to another powerhouse of 20th century physics, Richard Feynman.

My daughter, who was carrying her newborn yesterday in Walmart was crowed in an isle way by 3 black (oops) girls, when she said “excuse me” they just about pounder her. Hateful, disrespectful, crazy! She just got out of there while they made their little scene in the store like they owned the place.

Price is an idiot. Dallas has been dealing with this smacker-head for years now. The whole city council is filled with race-baiters who are constantly being indicted for one thing or another.
But….for the record…a “white-hole” is another astronomical term (or cosmological term) that describes what would theoretically be the opposite of a “black-hole”. Matter is sucked in to a black-hole and spewed out of a white-hole somewhere else in the universe…supposedly anyway. White-holes have never been observed and are still theoretical while black-holes have been observed and are a well-known fact of the cosmos. But I seriously doubt Price or most of the Dallas city council knows any of this stuff anyway. Kind of sad really.

I would suggest that DALLAS, if they should ever find the LOST MONEY from THE BLACK HOLE, should put all of it into the EDUCATION SYSTEM. For it it quite obvious by the statements from the meeting, EDUCATION is sorely lacking in DALLAS… If I were the two COMMISSIONERS listed in this post, and it will surely go NATIONAL, I would become as scarce as possible this week…

I worry about the state of education in this country when highly visible public officials have never heard the astrophysical term “black hole” used as an analogy for some mess from which no light escapes. And living next to Dallas, let me tell you that analogy was 100 percent spot on.
Having lived in the DFW area for over ten years, I have no problem saying that John Wiley Price is the biggest racist I have ever encountered in my life… and I grew up in Alabama in the 1960’s.
His antics in Dallas make Jesse Jackson look sane.

Ordinarily this would be true. But as we can all witness here, in America these people’s actions, and with fewer people objecting, this has as much chance of expanding the definition of these words.

It’s people like this man quoted in the story who will participate in this. These people seem to have a different take on reality than other, normal, sane people.
The first time I heard Michael Savage say that liberalism is a mental disorder, I laughed at the mean spirited attack on other Americans who disagree with me politically.
However, there are just way to many examples that prove that this statement is absolutely insightful and correct.

Not to say that every liberal is insane, but the tenets of liberalism, the reasons behind why people think they way they do seem to go hand in hand with a staggering lack of a grip on reality. This man is brown, not black. A black hole is a scientific phenomenon that sucks everything into it and not even light can escape. Using this metaphor to describe lost paperwork is in innocent comment, and has nothing whatsoever to do with race. Clearly, the opposite is true with this individual. He sees a racist attack where there is none. I can understand that someone can have a pet peeve about using the word that describes “Grudging and petty in giving or spending.” because it is too close to another word that is an actual racist epithet.
Maybe this man is just being the egotistical primadonna that he is. Or maybe he is genuinely offended by the word ‘black hole.’ If it’s the latter, then his sanity should be questioned.

Savage is not exempt from suffering from a mental disorder of his own. Since he does live in San Francisco, and is exposed to more liberal extremism than I am, maybe he does have a point. Still, when you have a national audience, and these people don’t experience the same things that he does, his rants can and do seem to be as extreme on the other side as the people he rails against. Anyway. Just wanted to mention that quote that he’s famous for.
I used to drink something (that was produced by, I believe, the Yukon Jack whiskey company) called Blackjack in the 90’s. However, when I had to (ahem) replenish my supply, I learned that the company had changed the name to Wildjack, for what I was told, due to protest from some about the connotations.

So let me get this straight black holes suck up any matter that comes close to them while white holes spew matter/energy outward through space. Presumably much of this matter would end up in other black holes as they go round gobbling up everything else, holy cow. By the way, black holes have a white hot interior but the black hole literally sucking the light out of space, wont let you see it. That’s right, black holes spend all their time and much of their energy in an all out effort to transform anything and everything else. It’s not surprising that Jones and Price got angry, they are black holes, in the universal sense of the word.

A black hole is called “black” because it emmits no visible radiation (light), therefore it is dark (dark being the absence of light). Moreover its gravitational force is so strong even light cannot escape it.
A white hole is a hypothetical construct where whetever gets sucked into a black hole would come out. None are known to exist. They’re called white because white is the opposite of black color-wise.
Color-wise white is an admixture of all colors (inclusive!), while black is the absence of any color.
Teh horrifying thought is that both of these men went to LAW SCHOOL. Affirmative action cases? I think so. At least all they can do is screw up the City of Dallas (which is the next Detroit, anyway.) Can you imagine the impact of affirmative action in the professions and sciences? Physicians, engineers, the people who run the power grid? If you make it through 4 years of college, and 3 years of law school and you don’t know what a black hole is….what else don’t you know? It beggars logic that these people are running anything more complicated than a popcorn cart.
I just got back from PC re-education camp. The water boarding didn’t work on me, but when they strapped me in a chair, pried my eyes open and made me watch videos of Al Sharpton over and over again, I broke. I just wish they hadn’t played Beethoven in the backgroud. Anyway, I have been reformed.
