Laura Bush Derangement Syndrome strikes again

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 9, 2008 11:14 AM

The next time Michelle Obama tries to play the victim card and the Obamedia sheds tears over the supposed abuse of Democrat wives, hand them a copy of the Laura Bush-bashing novel, American Wife.

Pure, unadulterated hatred masquerading as literature.

SF’s resident Laura Bush-hater Mark Morford and the nutroots give it two thumbs up, I’m sure.

So does Maureen Dowd.

    dakine,

Chap and I do not need your help. To answer your question:

I hope you would forgive me but I know you would take me to the cleaners.

Oh, the kid that hit me - got a pass and I fixed my car. So, you can forgo, “I would not put my money where my mouth is”.

One more question: would your opinion be the same if the driver had been Hillary? An illegal alien? A Muslim guy?

Dakin, you don’t need to be a mental heavyweight or even a Montblanc toting body builder to know how vile the posts on this site would be if we were discussing an accident were Hillary, an illegal alien or Muslim guy accidentally killed someone.

soap, with all due respect, I was in on this discussion with Barry and chap prior to your arrival on the scene. Furthermore, I wasn’t trying to bust your onions…this is an interesting debate to me worth of further discussion. Believe it or not, despite our past differences (many of them of my creation I’ll admit), I’ve actually come to respect what you have to say on most subjects. Anyway, I’d love to hear a further response from you regrading my hypo and questions.

Who can believe that we’re arguing over whether Laura Bush got a just penalty for this tragic event in her youth? Who can muster the stomach to suggest that she killed someone wilfully? Who can explain the sort of sophomoric (or, as I like to say, “sophomoronic“) behavior of the ones who would write the book, publish the book and review the book, respectively, with such glee as we see in this link?
The excerpts are stupid and juvenile, and I don’t care who they’re about.
I get MM’s point that this is just another example of the hideous double standard, but I’d prefer to ignore this book altogether and not give it free publicity here.

    dakine,

I think I answered your question. But I will try again.

First, I NEVER DRIVE AND TALK ON THE CELL PHONE. If I did run a light or stop sign and t-boned you, you have every right to take me down and, I am sure that you would.

To put this in perspective. When I was 17 I was involved in an accident causing injury to a man on a motorcycle. I was charged but, I was not at fault. The guy was riding in the blind spot of a van (he couldn’t see me and I could not see him). I, being a rider myself, always watch for motorcyclists. I pulled out slowly looking for the guy while the van pulled into the turn lane. The motorcyclist saw me, panicked and slammed on his brakes and slid into the median, flipped and was hurt pretty badly. Later in the hospital I visited the guy (mind you I am 17) and talked with him. He asked what happened and I told him. He said he was at fault but the “law” didn’t agree. I paid for everything.

Now, here is the part where I am supposed to admit I committed a crime. The truth is if I had not been the guy looking for him and it was the average Joe, that man would be dead. Any other person would have pulled right out the cyclists would have t-boned the car and it would have been the end.

Things happen and so do accidents. Ask Ted K.

10 years ago, my brother was passing a car at the speed limit, not noticing that the car was turning left because she didn’t signal and the turn was obscured by five foot tall weeds. He hit the car and the lady died. He was not charged with vehicular manslaughter for many various reasons. He was charged with other stuff, but not given any jail time and he didn’t lose his license.

It still haunts him to this day. By the logic of some people here, should my brother be punished forever and ever and be forced to relive an accident because some people think he got off easy? (by the way, the family of the lady forgave him). My brother will never ever run for office of anything and will never be in any way powerful, but perhaps he got “special treatment” because oh, I don’t know, his parents were poor dirt farmers from the middle of nowhere. Ahhh, logic….

mjk, sounds like justice was served in your brother’s case. That’s how the system is supposed to work. Hopefully, he’ll get peace someday.

soap, fair enough…I take your point. However, somewhere there’s a line where an “accident” crosses over to a “crime”. Of course, the appropriate punishment should always fit the crime and the various mitigating factors surrounding the same. Off to an AAU hoops tournament in Texas, so off-line for a long weekend. Have a good one my man.

ahh, a late friend of mine was in a car accident. the owner of the car was thrown out, my firend was pulled from the passenger seat severly burned.

the family of the owner blamed the person in the passeringer seat for the death of the owner.

It sucked, the passenger suffered sever burns and permenet scars, yet he was publicly blamed for the death of his best friend.

such is life (and death) I guess.
