“Black hole” brouhaha, continued: Official says “devil’s food cake” is racist, too!
Yesterday morning, I marveled at the p.c. idiocy of Dallas County (TX) commissioner John Wiley Price, who protested when his colleague Kenneth Mayfield used the term “black hole” to refer to lost paperwork.
The local Fox station in Dallas-Fort Worth has the video of the exchange.
The ignorance and sanctimony of John Wiley Price are something to behold.
Partial transcript:
Price: “Can I get an apology, from this day and time (pounding his fist on the table), you don’t sit at a table, where you have diversity, and refer to a black hole!”
Mayfield: Well, sure I do. It’s terminology. It’s a science term!
And it gets worse. Price is not only defending his black hole/white hole protest, he’s gone further and proclaimed “angel’s food cake” and “devil’s food cake” racist terms, too. Oh, and “black sheep” is out as well.
This is what the culture of victimhood and racial hypersensitivity has wrought.
Clowns.

I guess this means we’ll have to rewrite some stuff in science books and elsewhere.
That giant, low-mass star will now be known as the Native Star. A white dwarf won’t require any name change or special reasonable accommodation. Being white, it has no special rights to anything in today’s world. And what about our yellow sun? Well, that will henceforth be known as the Sino-Japanese-Korean complexioned sun.
Dark matter is now bright matter, regardless of whether you can actually see it or not.
And what about those damn Kryptonians who blew up their own planet and have sought refuge on this planet of ours? They lord it over us like some super-race. As if. And that Kal-El is the worst: prancing around in his tights and cape with that big S on his chest. Probably stands for Super-Race or Supremacist Man, or something along those lines. Whether that’s true or not doesn’t matter. It only takes one person who thinks that’s what the S represents and therefore feels offended and takes his grievance to a human rights commission.
Oh yes, Mother Nature can be truly proud of her children. Then again, we are not really here anyway. Eons ago Mother Nature went to see a doctor named Morgentaler or something, and he convinced her that aborting her offspring was the apropos thing to do – an act for which he was awarded with the Chaos of Nothingness.
The problem isn’t that this idiot has these beliefs/complaints, the problem is thast he is being given legitimacy for them and his arguments are given vredence instead of him being told to sit down and shut up. THAT, my friends, is where this reaaches the insanity level.
So, I guess you can no longer refer to an asphalt covered patch of ground as a “black-top”, the crayon color black can no longerr be included and a night-tim sky shoould from hrnce-forth be referred to as ‘Deep Indigo” as well as space itself.
Here’s a black hole that might some racial overtone to it; The Black Hole of Calcutta
Interestingly the wiki account says:
(emphasis mine)
Pity is the only sensible way to respond to people like Price. Poor miserable guy, can you just imagine how outraged he is every year at Christmas time hearing “White Christmas”? Pounding his fist on his kitchen table demanding, “Turn that radio off!” A mind is a terrible thing… but not having one is worse!
John Wiley Price is giving a black eye to the community.
This guy is an ignorant moron and I believe the guy should call him a race baiter straight to his face.
Isn’t it ironic that this is attributed to Lincoln?
This fool Price reveals his ignorance of English (at a minimum) by making these laughable accusations.
He is a poster child for the political Peter Principle: he has been elected to his level of incompetence.
A person without a racial chip on his shoulder would look up the term before reacting so vehemently.
The term “black hole” has made him look like another kind of hole.
His bio can be found on http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:qcp3E7piy3wJ:www.dallascounty.org/department/comcrt/jprice.html+John+Wiley+Price+bio&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=19&gl=us
Can you believe this fool has been elected SIX times? Of course, a close look at his bio will reveal why.
Especially since it was Mark Twain who said it.
There is such a groundswell to support minority candidates that they’ll elevate anyone. Look at Marion Barry or Alcee Hastings. Unless they support the “victim” theory, they are portrayed negatively, like Clarence Thomas.
My apologies, Dimsdale, apparently the origin of the quote is somewhat in question.
No more black op’s for the military.
First, the quote is based on a Bible verse, Proverbs 17:28, so neither is the true author of the idea or quote.
And second, I’m shocked at the reporter’s last comment as he closed out his “report”: “Commissioner Mayfield says that is was an innocent comment. He says he again was referring to the scientific term, the black hole sucks everything in and it disappears… you decide.”
You decide? You idiot. The commissioner at the exact moment he said it explained himself. Not only that, but it’s an appropriate analogy.
You can’t claim a color is intrinsically racist and that it can’t be used at all. This is worse than T-Mobile trying to copyright the use of the color magenta.
That devil.
John Wiley Price is a RACIST. He should be removed from office.
What about Angel food cake? Angel impels belief in a higher being. Maybe I shoudl bring it up with the Diversity people at my work.
Rob #34. You have exposed their true agenda.
Equality, 1964 was a lie.
#211, that is what should happen, and once it does, anywhere, we will be back on the road to reality and mutual respect.
WHITE house is racist!
A business being in the black is racist!
Black Friday is racist.
Black Sox and White Sox… RACIST!
No black-eyed peas for that man. One year!
Mr. Price forgot the following – perhaps being to busy being outraged.
What a black eye?
It’s getting dark?
Black ink?
Black spot (on your record)?
Black spots on the sun?
Black eyed peas?
Black bears?
Black panthers?
And who could forget Black Magic?
Can I get an apology from Mr. Price for spewing mindless victim accusations? People like Mr. Price are making black Americans look like they are uneducated, paranoid, and kind of weird in a nasty way. My advice for him is to shut his pie-hole and try doing something good for the truly needy.
Good old John Wiley Price.
I went and visited his church back in the late eighties with a dude from work. Unlike Obambi, it only took me a couple of visits to figure that BLT wasn’t the place to sup in remembrance of Jesus.
The BLT was low-key then, a murmur even, but obviously the full-blown derangement these days aren’t limited to Jeremiah Wrong.
