Homeland Security report: African human-smuggling rings could bring terrorists over the border
Very interesting–both for the intercontinental flavor of these coyote rings, and because of the candid admission in an internal government report that terrorists could take advantage of our unfenced, under-patrolled border:
Intelligence officials are focusing new attention on these networks that smuggle people from Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan — known havens for terrorists, including al-Qaida — according to an internal government assessment obtained by The Associated Press.
In the 12 months that ended last Sept. 30, U.S. officials caught 372 East Africans trying to get into the country, the assessment said.
Long, three page AP report there and I’m surprised it hasn’t gotten more attention yet.
Here’s an interesting detail that didn’t make it into the AP report: if you’re wondering where this smuggling ring they discuss got its fake documents, this newspaper report from Belize might offer a clue:
“Sampson Lovelace Boateng, 53, admitted that between approximately June 2006 and February 2007, he conspired with others to smuggle unauthorized aliens to the United States by providing them with fraudulently obtained Mexican visas,” said the release. “Boateng charged approximately $500 per visa. These documents, which Boateng obtained through a corrupt employee of the Mexican Embassy in Belize, enabled East African aliens to travel into Mexico and reach a point where they could be smuggled across the southern U.S. border.”
Boateng, who was formally arrested in the US on November 5, 2007, reportedly operated as a car dealer while in Belize. He was extradited from Belize after he and two other Ghanaians – Frank Boateng (his brother), 28, and Gwame Boakye, 26, as well as his the common-law wife, a Belizean woman named Irma Valencia, 49, were arrested in connection with what police had said was a major immigration scam.

Valencia was employed as a secretary at the Mexican Embassy while the scam was ongoing.
Good work by ICE (and DEA) in shutting this ring down, and I’m glad to see that someone inside government has the guts to admit there’s a terror risk at our southern border. I wish they’d shout it a little louder.

Speaking of terrorists in Africa, here’s the ultimate culture clash: racy French TV programming is filtering through the (satellite) airwaves to North Africa, and threats come filtering back:
Canal-Plus, France’s first pay-TV channel, received letters from one or more people claiming to be Muslim and threatening to blow up its headquarters if it continues to broadcast once-a-month pornographic films, the official said. The official was not authorized to be named publicly about such matters.
Okay, liberals–who do you side with? The victims threatened by cultural imperialism or the…victims threatened by cultural imperialism?

Good point, Wighttrasch–but the report says most of the illegals themselves were from Eritrea, Somalia, and Sudan.
Apparently these guys had a lot of connections in African embassies as well.

Another indication of how evil the world thinks America is. . . .they just keep trying to sneak in and partake of our evil corrupt society. And they are allowing terrorists that want to turn America into the same kind of third world Sh$*hole that they are trying to get out of.
Can someone explain to me why these East African muslims aren’t trying to sneak into Sowdi Arabia or Iran? Those countries already have kabillions of oil money and they already live under sharia. What could be better?

If I don’t care if porn bothers Christians, I’m certainly not going to lose any sleep if Muslims are offended.
While we make people take off their shoes, confiscate their luggage, x-ray them, and harass them at the counters, terrorists ignore flying and gently walk across our open border to the south. In a few days, they’re with some cell in a major city, getting all set for their next attack. If it comes, and it turns out the terrorists crossed the border, you can bet politicians will be finger-pointing each other, blaming it on Bush, or “corruption” in the Border Patrol, while they hurriedly push through legislation to close the border to save their own politicial skins. Yeah…closing the barn door after the horses escaped.

Having spent a lot of time in Europe, I noticed Canal+ often overdubs American porn before broadcasting. So now, the liberals will need to also consider whether they want to denegrate the Porn Community in Left Wing Calipornia.

I never understood the problem people have with porn on cable. If you don’t want it – LOCK IT OUT. The supreme court has looked at this and even though there is the “community standard” if people didn’t pay for it it wouldn’t exist. It’s not cheap to produce and distribute legally. They tried to ban it in Salt Lake City. Turns out there are a lot of pay per view movie sales for porn in Salt Lake City. The court told the prosecutor he didn’t know what his community wanted, because the sales said people wanted it and were willing to pay for it. We have seperation of church and state for a reason, actually several very good reasons. The religous extremists from any and all religons are dangerous. Moderation good, extremist bad. Works with just about anything.

Of course, the secular humanist nut lumped everyone of any religion into extremest, or moderate.
