Whoa.
That’s quite a show of strength by the Taliban.

If only General ‘Chesty’ Puller had been available:
‘Well, men, the enemy has us right where we want him. We can shoot in any direction, now!’
It seems the security forces arrested some popular thugs…
Heavily armed, hmmm, Pakistan has it’s hands full now.
I hope this isn’t Pakistan’s idea of a new peace accord with the Taliban.
Fool me once, shame on you…
I hope the Iraqi and Afghanistan governments take this as a brutal heads-up. May our intelligence and clandestine services people be as pumped up technologically and strategically as our military!
On this note, a question which I’ve always wondered; I know where to send my appreciations and gifts to members of our armed forces, but where do you send your deep appreciation of our intelligence service agents who are often as much in harms way? If anyone can offer a suggestion, thanks!

So, if the military acts quickly, they can get 400 bad guys at once? Charge!
It seems to me that any cease-fire type agreement that may have been in place should be considered over now, and the government should go after the Taliban.
This sounded like a perfect time for the Pakistani govt to call the USAF Hotline and find the option to press for a dose of precision munitions.
It seems like they could use the help.
good idea dave…..
ring> please press 1 to smoke 400 taliban.
What a lot of people don’t understand is that the Taliban (and their allies) consider a “cease-fire” to be nothing more than a time to regroup and re-equip before attacking again. Same thing for a “negotiation”.
Imagine January 1944 and Tojo and Hitler call for a 2-year cease-fire and negotiation. Would anyone have been willing to give it to them?
I remember just a year ago they staged an attack with 1200. This sounds like a sad (yippee for us) echo.
What do you call 400 Taliban — Aim point.
I’m betting dollars to donuts at least one troll will pop up complaining that the attack is B-o-o-o-o-o-o-osh’s fault “because he redeployed troops from Afghanistan to Iraq.
And when
lgmhe does, he will find this question waiting for him.I’m somewhat skeptical about the 400 number, we have satalite imagery 24/7 in that region and I find it hard to see us missing that amount of activity going unnoticed. Then again you can put my knowledge of mil. ops in a thumbnail.
So, all that’s really necessary here is a couple of Apache’s and a couple of M1 Abrams. And a few troops to clean up the mess afterward.
Whatever the number they do seem to be organized. I hope we have a Rapid Response capability there to take advantage of such situations. It is easiest to Kill Them Where They Are.
Thank you for calling the U.S.A.F. hotline, please listen as the options have changed.
-For precision munitions please press 1
-For MOABs or daisycutters please press 2
-For HALO insertion please press 3
-For LAPE resupply please press 4
If you didn’t hear the option that you’re looking for, please stay on the line and a FAC will be with you shortly.
We’re sorry, all of our forward air controllers are busy now, please stay on the line or call for artillery support until we can answer your call.
You’re call is very important to us, please stay on the line until it is no longer important to you.

The beating certain trolls have gotten on these threads lately won’t deter them, I’m afraid. Let the beatings continue until morale improves! Does feel good every time a mole, I mean troll, is whacked, doesn’t it?… As for this Taliban show of strength….well, they must have put their eggs in one basket. Wonder if any Predators were overhead during this little mess?
I wish Bush had just concentrated on Afghanistan and Pakistan instead of raiding IRAQ in search on non existent WMDs.
Hope atleast OBamam will do as he says and attacks or atleast pressurizes Pakistan to allow our great troops to invade Wazirstan (border are b/w Pakistan and Afghanistan where Osama is believed to be hiding) and kill all these thugs.
” non existent WMD’s…..”
Are you still on that singular canard? We went in there for more than WMD’s and I refuse to AGAIN recount all the leftards and such that thought the move into Iraq prudent. Can’t let go of the mantra, can they?
Catching Osama bin Laden and killing other cruel terrorists is lot more important to me (and I am sure other Americans) than whatever that “more” you are talking about.
550 Metric Tonnes of Yellow Cake Uranium says both Joe Wilson and brad_sk are wrong.
I see brad_sk would have only fought against the Japanese and ignored the Germans in WWII. Great strategic thinking there, Brad!
Nightmare time. If we don’t start removing a certain radical group from our own land we could see some of this here. Of course, our radicals are illegal not home grown. Big difference I guess.
bradley,
We are fighting the enemy in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, Philippines etc., And I’m sure there is some thing going on in Pakistan. The lib media just hasn’t given away all our military secrets… yet.
Just think, if only we could get 400 Al Qaeda and their attorneys all in one spot.
As long as it is not GITMO because, as we all know, the fine citizens in GITMO are all there without reason.
While the article gives local place names, it doesn’t say whether the attack occurred in Afghanistan or Pakistan. Which was it?
