Goodbye, California
I’m joining the exodus out of California today, flying across the country to start a new life on the Slightly Less Crazy Coast.
Some things in this state I’ll miss. But a lot, I won’t. I’m going somewhere, I hope, a little more like this.
Anyway, posting will be light out of me for a couple of days…y’all take care.

Have a good trip see-dub. You know would always be welcome in Alaska if that doesn’t work out.
Hopefully you will end up in a pro-gun state, See-Dubya…
We conservative Californians will miss you miss you – see-duya…
I miss California too. I will be spending a week at the Long Beach Marina while on vacation next month
Happy trails, Dub!
Best to you on your new adventure! I miss Santa Barbara, but never would consider living there now. How could you??? The property is made of gold (based on the prices).
Good luck see-dub. Maybe you can find a place like this or this. Gotta love a small town.
For your sake, I hope your not starting your new life in New-we-haven’t-thought-of-a-way-to-tax-your-thoughts-Jersey.
Good luck!!
Good Luck, see-dubya
Tony Snow passed away, God Bless him.
#8- I just saw that on Fox. I was floored. He will be missed. Rest in peace Tony. You were one of the good ones.
Sorry for changing the subject see-dubya
TONY SNOW DIES AT AGE 53
See-Dubya, take great care and best of luck to you and your family! Conservative Californians are going to miss you, but at least we have you on MM!
Godspeed Mr Snow.
Oh, and safe trip See Dubya.
Rest in peace, Tony Snow. May the Lord welcome you in His loving embrace. May His embrace also comfort your family in this most difficult time.
Congrats, See-Dub. Everyone hates the process of moving, but I hope you enjoy the result.
Remember: the ocean’s on the right now.
Blind, I just woke up and turned the tv on and that was the news, sad day to say the least, I admired Tony Snow and he was a fine American.
I read Jack Cashill’s book. I commented about it here somewhere. Not a bad read.
Moving sucks, doesn’t it? Pain in the keester. One of those things in your life you want to do as least as possible, like getting bitten by a shark or having a conversation with Medea Benjamin.
Ba-dum-bum.
I left California recently, too, but I just lived there for a couple of years. I don’t miss it that much, but I wish I did more while I was there. I’ll probably visit the state again sometime, more than once. If I won the lottery, I’d get an additional house there (and not be delinquent on my mortgage payments).
Good luck on the other side of the country.
I’d say something about Tony Snow, but I don’t want to get this thread onto the wrong topic. No offense, BM. I will admit that I found out what happened from your comment. I assume the matter will be addressed elsewhere on this site shortly.
Sorry to see you depart our once fine state SeeDub. can you at least escort a few of the dipsticks to the state line and drop em off on your way? oh crud, you’ed need a bigger bus than Odumbo. be safe.
As a person who left the land of fruits, flakes and nuts almost 20 years ago, I can tell you that what you miss will be replaced with better and less crowded things elsewhere. Good luck, Cee-Dub
ps, the lack of In and Out burgers won’t be to hard to take if you have a steak and shake nearby your new digs.
Safe trip, see-dubya!
Just do yourself a favor and avoid the overly blue states like NY, NJ, and MA.
They can be pretty, but the political climate will sap your will to live…
Good Luck!
Hope it turns out well for ya!
CW,
On your way out of the Planet California, I have a simple request: Bring a double-double with grilled onions, pickles, and cheese, please.
mmmmmmmm
I’ve had a “Low In-N-Out Burger Light” for some time now.
See-Dubya,
Good luck wherever this move takes you. Just remember that no state on this coast has the wackos, wierdos, and political charlatans that California has. Taxachusetts and Vermont are trying to catch up but they still have a long way to go.
California has such incredible beauty that it is a shame what has happened to it over the last few decades. That old saying definitely applies, “a nice place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there.”
You’ve got to miss Mission Beach, Pacific Beach (PB), the old wooden roller coaster on Mission Beach, Konas Surf Shop. Garnett Blvd., The Studio Diner, fish tacos, Cabrillo Point etc. This is a reasonable approximation of heaven.
I forgot to add that we have White Castles here in New York and in New Jersey.
If life brings you this way, try a few sliders. Their is nothing like them!
Hope you enjoy where ever you land. But won’t you miss Boxer, Feintein and Herr Terminator?
Have a good trip.
Before some liberal jerk corrects me, There is nothing like them.
Dubs if you are having any second thoughts here’s a quick lesson on plate tectonics.
I did the same thing See-Dubya last August. Left LA for the East Coast. Best move I ever made.
I too am a native Californian. I no long live in my beautiful state and miss a lot of the amenities offered there but I don’t miss all the loons that have moved there to try and find their pot of gold. In my humble opinion they are the ones who have ruined the state. AND I do not miss it not enough to move back. Those of us that were raised there years ago (50-70’s) can remember our state in its fullest glory. We also remember the reigns in Ronald Regan’s hands and life was good. I am sorry that it has become the laughing stock of states within our country. I’ve settled into the Midwest and love the life style it offers! Safe Travels and blessings on your new digs!!!
You should come to utah. My 4 bedroom house just cost me 173,000 and unemployment is at 3.5%
You have a friend in Pennsylvania
Have a good safe trip! Hopefully, it will work out the better. May 1st, I transfered the job, picked up stakes, loaded the oxen and wagon, and headed away from D.C.. So far, it’s been a good move. I can still report that I have not seen any day-laborers yet, here.
150 years ago, it was “go west, young man”. Nowadays, it’s “go east, young man”. Let us know of your area and how it shapes up. Our prayers are with you.
Fair winds and smoothing sailing!
I left California 18 years ago after getting out of the military. Been back a couple of times since then for business, but can’t say I miss it much.
Nebraska is a nice state to live in.
sonofdy,
You might not want to sing the praises of Utah too loudly. You may attract the wrong people. My
ignorantliberal brother just retired and moved to Utah from CA. Seems he could no longer afford the workers paradise he and his socialist soulmates had created.Lived on the Peninsula in northern CA for 4 years. Just moved back home to TX. Will never leave here again. I miss In N Out, but so happy to have Whataburger back.
Good luck on your relocation see-dubya. One of the things I do miss about California is In-and-Out Burgers. I swear they drug their food to make you crave it even more.
I survived 10 years in So. Cal and couldn’t wait to get out of there. I finally escaped for good in 2004 and have never been back. Have no plans to. Last one out, turn the lights off.
Be sure to get a window seat. West coast to east coast at 30,000′ is one amazing geography lesson.
In Luke 11:24 Jesus tells the story of a man with a demon in him. The demon leaves to find rest in other dry places. When he returns he finds his old “house” empty, but neat and clean. So he takes up residence again, and invites 7 others to live with him. The point is after you clean yourself up you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit or risk having more unclean spirits affect your life.
Although it’s a bit of an opposite, now that see-dubya is leaving here I’m afraid the ones replacing him here in CA will be 8 more evil liberals! We need more good conservatives to inhabit this place. Good luck in your new home!
nyandy, yes we have that type here, manly in downtown Sal Lake, which is why it is slowly dying. That is where you get the 3-400,000 dollar houses. (funny how high prices follow liberals) anyway I live in Tooele. I can make it to work in 35 minutes and I work down town
Isn’t it peculiar, but typical, how liberals can never put the two facts together?
And wherever they move, they repeat the process. Look at Vermont. You should see how the New Yorkers have raised property prices here in western Mass. Look at the cities in CT: everyone of them is a relative hellhole of crime and illegals.
They are like a plague of locusts.
Glad to hear you’re getting out of California, See-Dubya. I’ve never been there, but everything I’ve learned about it says it’s not a good place for sane people to be.
I hope your new home on the east coast isn’t in the liberal northeast. If you can stand the hot summers, the southeast is a great place to live. I’ve lived in SC all my life and have never even considered moving more than one or two states away.
Yes, several!
Since the Welcome Wagon is almost extinct, please put up a paypal link so we can kick in for a house warming gift for you and the family.
My Welcome Wagon reference was to be directed to Michelle! Sorry for any confusion.
My great-great grandfathers came to California in the 1800’s. One of them helped drive a herd of cattle all the way from the East Coast. The other ran a saloon in San Francisco.
My family has always been proud that they were pioneers of California. We love the warm weather and beauty of Southern California, and I always thought I would be the fifth generation of my family buried here, and that my children would carry on.
However, I am so sick of living in the barrio that Southern California has become. Yesterday, my wife and I were out in the evening for a walk, and groups of black and Mexican young men gave us hard looks… It wasn’t like this even five years ago, and as we walked we began to talk about how we don’t want our young children to go to school around these people. They hate whitey and display Mexican flags… plus we are scared, and I have to think about the safety of my family!
BUT WHERE TO MOVE?
One reason I visit blogs like this is because those of us that miss our neighborhoods, that see American Culture being destroyed with the multiculturalism that is being forced down our throats, can’t say anything for fear of reprisal from the thugs or from the pc police.
See-dubya, let us know how you find things where you move… we are looking.
READ THIS: This is an editorial from the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper that PROVES and ADMITS that multiculturalism IS being shoved down our throat.
I moved here from Chicago in 2000, wife went California and traded me in for the trophy husband, younger and does what he’s told, but with the split custody I am rather trapped here for the next ten years. Every day is a challenge here in Moonbat Bay ( sf area) but I will do my best to try and influence at least one libtard a day.
see-dubya: Best wishes in your move from The Late Great Golden State. My family and I moved from Moron (Marin) County, CA to Fairfax County, VA last October. Much different atmosphere (and we’re near family). Virginia suits me, as I’m originally a Southerner (Texas). I really don’t miss CA. If you’re coming out this way, drop me a line.
Hey see-dub, instead of either left coast, you could try fly-over country. It’s a lot more peaceful. Having lived in Ca. and Va. I choose Southern Illinois. You could come here and help us get a whole new batch of Senators. Please, Please, Please.
I left San Diego for NE Florida 2 years ago. I miss the ocean scenery, but nothing else. Here in NE Florida, actual Americans mow lawns, dig ditches and fix roofs. Amazing!
Unless you want confrontation with a plethora of moonbats’ attitudes, avoid South Florida. Many NY’ers have either moved here or have two homes. After all these years, libs are still whining about the goracle-loserman robbery.
Maybe one bright spot is property values are down by 50% in spots. So my once near $300k modest townhome is in the toilet but at least property taxes are only around $800 a year because of Homestead law. I doubt Pa. or Jersey are anywhere near that, but then insurance costs here are through the roof.
Regarding the music link, my favorite Statler song is Flowers on the Wall. Who can forget it playing as Bruce Willis runs over Ving Rhames and the ensuing confrontation with the crackers?
see-dub,
Good luck. I live in NJ. STFO of NJ, NYC, MA. Upstate NY is conservative for the most part. If it wasn’t for NYC, NY would be red.
NJ used to be the conservative suburb of NYC but no more. The liberal media brainwashing and institutions of “higher learner” are spinning out more and more moonbats.
JT is looking for higher RED ground over the next few years. Let the liberals kill NJ like they did NYC.
The Liberal San Francisco Bay area contributed more to America than the entire states of Montana, Alabama Wyoming, and Kansas put together.
While Neanderthal Republicans are trying to make America a backward country (no science, no public institutions, no public spirit), Californians keep America moving forward.
I’m third generation Californian, but I’m retiring out of state soon. I’d like to live somewhere in America, I hear it’s a nice place.
Come visit us in Massachusetts, see-dubya. I promise to keep my brand of ‘Slightly Less Crazy’ in check.
Wisconsin needs good people to help fight the tyranny of liberalism. Consider us.
lgm,
Now that is the truth.
.
That may be correct. But, America would be much better if the contribution of trash had not been made.
See-Dubya: How about trying the great state of Oklahoma? We have two U.S. senators who make conservatives proud. “Maple Street” looks just like my home town….great place to raise kids. The only drawback is the ratio of “yellow-dog Democrats” to the rest of the population. Good luck to you and your family.
I am packing up as we speak. Tomorrow I make the trip from the East Coast (DC) to the Midwest (OH).
Good luck and drive/fly safe.

How come I always get this mental image of pigeon poop when lgm posts a comment?
Good-luck with the move see-dub. Remember…if you get to the east coast and don’t like it…well…you are always welcome in the great state of Texas. And as Mimi1220 pointed out…Whataburger has the best dang hamburgers around. I live in North Texas…I sometimes jokingly refer to it as southern Oklahoma.
GO OU
The In-N-Out sign certainly caught my eye. Going there today, a mere 20 mile 20 minute drive away through farmland and beautiful orchards. We improved our quality of life simply by moving 250 miles north of La La land and still plenty far enough away from Moonbat Bay. Many people seem to have forgotten California was almost always called the “Land of Fruits and Nuts” even in the warmly memorable days of the 50’s when I was in high school and then the Army. Loved S. F. in the 50’s, but will not go there now. Wish you good fortune back east. Did not care for the climate when I was posted in Massachusetts. Too humid just lke the southeast and Texas in the summer. Gaaah, temperature and humidity to match – 90%. Also, I miss Tony Snow.
California keeps America moving forward, lgm? Some how i just cannot figure how fags delivering felatio in public during a festival helps America move forward…
Wow See-Dub, we all want you. What a compliment. You should have set up a bid situation. You might be rich right now.
see-dubya, to which part of the East Coast will you be going?
Just what California didn’t need…a great Conservative leaving us, when we need them the most! Best of luck, see-dub. I hope the California experience helped “thicken your skin”…you’ll need it out East. Fare Well!
Good luck, See-Dubya. I’ve enjoyed many of your posts and contributions to this site. I’m sorry that you have to move.
Moving is never easy. I’ve been a military spouse for these past 8 years and I’ll never get used to the moving. I’ve lived in the following places:
1. New York (upstate region where I grew up)
2. Pennsylvania (or Pennsyltucky to some of my friends)
3. Alabama
4. Colorado (where I hope to finally settle)
5. Virginia (where my husband and I currently live)
See-Dubya… I certainly hope you find lots of success in your new home. However, I don’t think you’re gonna love the East Coast any better than the West. Being from New York State, I can attest to the craziness and that’s the way that many East Coasters (especially liberals) love it.
As to lgm’s comment (or lack of real point)… except for Hollywood (which is not a real accomplishment) what exactly does CA really contribute that other states do not?
See-Dubya… have a safe trip. Give West Coasters the royal wave for me, okay?
In the last seven years since I bought the house I live in now the list of states that my conservative friends and or family have moved to is getting longer every day. Arizona, Nevada Colorado, Ohio, Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, right now there are four houses on my street up for sale. I have to wait until this mortgage mess is sorted out and for houses to start selling once again (as the greenie polices take effect and hurt the building industry) I look for my house to go up even more that it has already. When I moved to OC in 60 it was a farm county with a couple of Marine air stations that have since been closed down by my buddy Clinton. I miss the sound of the jets, the thunder of the helicopters going by, believe it or not. I grew up with them the funny thing is I sleep a lot more restlessly without them.
We here consider ourselves almost not part of the rest of the state, that comes from being small and generally ignored by LA, San Diego and much of the rest of the state which by the way is the way we preferred it. If you lived here during Vietnam you might not have known that some people were protesting the war it just wasn’t discussed here. In those days you didn’t see too many boys of military age around our neighborhoods as they were in the military already the same applies today. You won’t find code stink around here and the orange groves are gone so too most of the strawberry and tomato fields, I have watched as concrete and steel have replaced them. Interestingly the biggest shift I have witnessed here came after the last LA riot many people relocated in to my county I guess they felt safer here among us, wow what a surprise.
When I go I won’t miss it, sure I’ll miss what it used to be in another time but that time has gone. I can clearly remember the country that was the Statler Bros video See-Dubya posted just as if it were yesterday, yesterdays gone. That’s why you must enjoy what you have while you have it and if need be fight for it, nothing is guaranteed, not yesterday not tomorrow. So good luck and Godspeed to See-Dubya and the rest of you I hope when you find what you are looking for you heed the lessons of the past.
We’ll keep a light on for ya, see-dubya.
Good luck.
if I see you arround VA somewhere, I’ll buy you a beer..
LGM..
Wyoming was the first state to bring you woman’s suffrage
(Meaning, the right to vote)
so are you sexist saying that women’s vote doesn’t matter to California?
(weak argument.. but’s he’ll never respond either.)
Give me a break….it’s not THAT bad here in Cali. I mean so what if the whole state is a crack dealing illegal invader sanctuary city???
So what if San Francisco and the East Bay need to cede from the union? Or that the Hollyweirdians hate this country. Or our gas is higher than any place else. Or there are more fake boobs per capita than any place else on earth. Or that we’ve spawned such delights as San Fran Nan and Diane “mo money fo my hubby” Feinstein???
I mean the weather is great.
Okay, Jenn, ya got me there. ONE good thing about California…
Another displaced Californian.
Another tax payer (one of millions) that will be replaced by a tax spender.
Another American replaced by a non American.
Another step closer to a third world state.
Another step closer to an alternate identity.
Another step closer to the rest of America going down that, exact, same, road.
c-Dubya! Great luck to you in every endeavour Eastern. You deserve every happiness. Gotcher back!
see-dubya
I’ll bet you are excited and pumped! Good luck!
A lot of the the good things that the video reminded me of are gone. Heck, even Anheuser-Busch will soon be just a memory and here in St. Louis, that is causing great consternation!
Looking at my 8 month old grandson makes me realize that there are a lot of new memories to be made and it’s mine and his mother’s job to make sure that they are good memories.
Good memories make for a great future! How’s that for positive thinking?
California is just the first installment of the third world $hithole America is about to become if we don’t start fighting back. Glad to see anybody get out of that sanctuary toilet, but we have to draw a hard line somewhere.
Good luck with the move, see-dub.
Have a safe trip and move.
Oh LGM…once again you have proven your foolishness to the world…thank you form the entertainment!
for the entertainment
I wish you well on your move. I am a native Californian, and I will be retiring in four years and relocating to northern New Mexico. My father’s family has been there since the late 19th century. It’s a beautiful place. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley. Yosemite was our “private” park. We rented beach houses in Santa Cruz and Morro Bay. We came to San Francisco to go uptown, see plays and baseball games. I went to Disneyland the first year it opened. I am just sick at what’s happened to my home. When Arnold is out of office in January 2011, a liberal Dem governor will take over and the state will spend itself into bankruptcy. The inevitable fiscal collapse will bring auterity that no one here today can imagine. I don’t want to be here to see it…or live through it.
The Liberal San Francisco Bay area contributed more to America than the entire states of Montana, Alabama Wyoming, and Kansas put together.
—————————
Yes there were conservatives there, there still are a few but the “tree sitters” are now quickly uoutnumbering the productive ones.
While Neanderthal Republicans
——————————
attitudes like this are exactly why obama can not unite us. Liberals love to force thier ideals on to others.
Having been born and raised, spending the last 40 years in California, living in both halves of the State, I can honestly say that i am immensely jealous of you. I long to move out of this state in the worst way, to someplace else that is a bit more sane, where the people are a bit more realistic and where they don’t think that the 60’s and all it’s ills are still in effect and the correct way to be.
I have been hoping to move my family to either idaho or Kentucky, but certain things have made moving out of this state, at least for the next 9 years, virtually impossible.
Good luck in your new life in someplace where the cost of living is somewhat less than what a millionaire can afford, and they do not tax you to death, or reward you for the most stupid things you can imagine.
And again…I envy you more than you could ever know.
It is good to have a little comic relief once in a while from the token liberal mascot!
I tend to think of coprolites (fossilized dung) which both represents the substance of his thinking and its ancient, fixed state.
While in ft carson a californian told us that hte country follows california, I told him california should mind its own business. He was shocked. Well here in salt lake, a house for troubled youths who had helped hundreds of teens for decades was shut down because of a bunch of liberal californians, using californian money sued the house in utah because it did not meet “californian” standards. Troubled youths now stay in the streets and become drug whores because of it.
Best of luck to you and your family on the move east, but I think you may get a little homesick for California come winter – remember, the period of January-March for the eastern half of the country is cold, wet and slick.
The posting from sdilliard #80 saddens me somehat because we cannot live the life remembered in the San Joaquin Valley, but we can get close to it maybe long enough to get out for an actual retirement before the asphalt engulfs us. Northern New Mexico is where my parents moved from prior to WWII and where I will be visiting for a reunion Aug 2nd. See-dubya there is no way the countryside back east can match New Mexico or Colorado, but enjoy what you find.
Yes, he’s quite bromidic.
Dubs I wish you bon voyage. I hope I get the opportunity to meet you and Michelle at a conservative blogging convention or something.
LGM is definitely “da man” fot the part of “guest
villainblog poster”Good luck on your move….California is still a great place, just stay away from the big cities..Kinda sorta off topic, I never figured out the love for In-N-Out Burgers, they’re nothing but little grease pucks. Give me a Denny’s burger any day.
Born and raised here, one of the few genuine native Californians left, I have come to discover after 40 some years that the negative reputation that plagues “Californians” actually belongs to the masses of transplants who came from somewhere else to be ‘discovered’, for the weather, or as 3angels3 said, to find their pot of gold. The net effect has been disasterous; too many people, too much traffic, astronomical home prices, etc. It’s a shame, but here I stay. : /
Hope you find what you are looking for when you get where you are going.
I’m a native Californian and now an ex-pat living in Nevada. The libs have completely ruined Cali.
Another refugee from California here. There’s a slew of us all over the country. The poster that commented that so many of the problems effecting the quality of life there being due to immigrants or move-ins from somewhere else is right on. I enjoy two very small homes now in two different states. One in the north and one in Texas. I love both but I’m seeing the same nutcases that so drastically changed my beloved home in NorCal making their way into new states and trying to do the same there. Their wetdream is that they “must” save the locals from themselves. Instead, they bring more asphalt/concrete/tear apart former ranches and farms/ and higher taxes for their pet projects. The weather will trap you in California, but I’ve learned to put on a sweater in the north and wear as little as possible in the south!
We will miss you, but the Internet will keep us close!
I do have to scold you a little. When I saw “Goodbye, California” with a pic of In-and-Out my heart went to my throat. I thought they were leaving!
As a on-native Californian, I can say this state has a lot going for it.
It also has a lot going against it.
I live in Sacramento and refuse to go to San Fransicko/Bezerkely. Those cites are for everything that I’m absolutely against.
I’d love to move to a more conservative place, if I could find a job and if I could leave family/friends. I can’t, so I’ll just have to suck it up and try to fight the good fight from within.
See-Dubya, good luck and best wishes on the re-location.
Good luck on the move,See-Dubya…..
As far as Colorado goes, the small towns are good….but the liberals that are in control of the statehouse now are rapidly turning Colorado into CaliEast.
Whoa! You’re heading the wrong way, See-Dub.
The People’s Republic of Hawaii definitely needs more conservatives.
Good luck to you!
lgm=LittleGirlyMan…Hey lgm do me a favor kiss my ass….
