Grow a pair, Obama

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 14, 2008 05:26 AM

Barry,

So, you found this satirical New Yorker cover art “tasteless and offensive.”

Welcome to public life.

Guess what? In Washington, political cartoonists and caricaturists spare no one.

*Update* Chris at The Hot Joints reminds me of this truly disgusting cartoon run in the Obama-worshipping Rolling Stone magazine last month:

Here’s a reminder of the crap Condi Rice has had to deal with over the years:

1. The buck-naked bigotry of Ted Rall:

2. Jeff Danziger’s Condi-as-Prissy cartoon:

3. Pat Oliphant’s exaggerated-lipped parrot caricature:

Much more here.

But hey, that’s nothing compared to the assassination chic targeting President Bush:

bushgun.jpg

killbush.jpg

killbush003.jpg

bushbeheaded.jpg

dope.jpg

Oh, and if you’re going to echo your wife’s claims of special victimhood and decry the satirical “attack” on her, go buy a copy of the Laura Bush-bashing novel, “American Wife,” read what they said about her trip to Afghanistan, and check out the diatribe published by the San Francisco Chronicle smearing her as a “docile doormat” and much worse.

Then, when you’re done digesting all that, wipe your nose, grow a pair, do your little Jay-Z dance move, and take your own advice to your daughters:

No whining.

It clashes with your glow.

***

Much more from Doug Ross and Rick Moran, who says: “Man up.”

For once I agree with Barack Obama on something. This cartoon IS tasteless and offensive. But so what? It’s merely a reflection of Obama’s tasteless and offensive worldview.

There will be dissent no matter what. Mr. Obama should take more care in deciding which side of an issue he chooses, so that any tasteless and offensive press is at least tolerable to him and geared (in his view) toward his core beliefs and not his person.

Why doesn’t Obama explain to us exactly why this seemingly very accurate depiction of his beliefs is so “tasteess and offensive”? After all, he’s depicted as sympathizing with a terrorist, something I certainly believe is part of his worldview.

As our esteemed hostess has already suggested, Obama needs to grow a pair.

A local blog (Marquette Warrior) has done a round-up of some of the comments by tons of so-called “tolerant” and “compassionate” liberals in the wake of Tony Snow’s death. This, quite frankly, makes the Obama cartoon look like a walk in the park – yet I don’t hear nearly as much condemnation from liberals about it.

Here’s a sampling of the comments:

Just a sampling of comments from the aforementioned Democratic Underground.

Meet your maker and all the people you helped kill Tony.

Condolences to his family, good riddance to a fucking liar.

We have no right to rejoice over this. But what about the man whose entire family was slaughtered by american bombings in Iraq ? Snow, as Bush’s spokesman, bears a responsibility.

Mr. Snow, meet Mr. Fire. Another fascist bites the dust. None too soon.

A fond farewell Mr. Snow … If there is someplace you go after death, I hope George Carlin is there waiting to kick your ass.

He (or his masters) paid image consultants a crapload of money to make him seem like a decent guy, but he stood for and supported everything that Bush and Cheney do, and I wouldn’t apply the term decent to either of them…

My condolences … to the Iraqis who have died because of the neocons.

Why not just let him lie and say nothing, and save your pity for the people who have suffered and died because of Bush administration policies that Snow helped promote?

I saw him on Bill Maher maybe back in January. And I remember being shocked at the time that someone battling what is usually a death-sentence illness . . . would not have learned anything about life. His illness and what he went through obviously not having taught him anything about compassion, humility or empathy. But there he was, Tony Snow. As hateful and arrogant as ever.

that Tony was a filthy, lying bastard who devoted his later years to spewing propaganda for fascists and miscreants.

Rest in peace, Mr. Snow. Just joking.

He was a paid liar for the worst administration in our history.

He was just one of the flacks. Media manipulators for hire. Spin machines. I have often wondered how they manage to sleep at night.

    he lied to me daily

Isn’t that nice. A faithful Christian who enabled the slaughter of innocent Iraqis.

sorry snow——- his bullshit lies and smarmy face caused the deaths of soldiers, the ignoring of global warming, the spreading of disinformation.

Maybe he can now meet some of the people his lies killed

    .

Some similar hatred from the Daily Kos.

Question #2.Was Tony Snow part of a Goebbels-like propaganda machine allowing a cabal of pillaging, warmongering thugs to seize War Powers of an Industrialized “Democracy” allowing said Regime to unrepentently torture, maim, and kill civilians in foreign lands while rationalizing his patrons Police-State Powers at home via the comprehensive, calculated dissembly of the Rule of Law? . . . Yes.

I feel horribly for the children, elderly parents…the wife I am more ambivalent about. I could not love or stay married to a man who enabled Bush.

Isn’t it ironic. . . that a man who held onto and fed people the lies, the smears, the condescending attitude, who hurt so many should be overcome by the very thing that his own body was feeding and growing.

Tony Snow I am sure was a nice man to those of like mind. And there is exactly the problem. “Those of like mind” do not give a damn about you or me or the rest of this once great country.

Let’s talk about Tony Snow – I mean really talk about Tony Snow and what lies he spread to the world for profit.

Standing in Puragtory’s line, behind 100k Iraqis

It is fair and balanced to note what team he played for. How many Iraqis and Americans died so he could continue in his job?

So if liberals here act with surprise that we find them less than tolerant, this is a prime example why.

As to Coulter, Rush, Savage, Malkin and hte rest – often, when liberals call them “insulting” or “hysterical”, it’s merely because they’re right. When they’re really offensive or wrong, we call them on it.

Can’t say the same thing about liberals and their cohorts.

Red State Skeptic shows what tyrants most liberals would be if they had any type of power. They want NO counter points of view, and if there are any they demonize them as “bigots.” Oldest trick in the book.

Liberals have NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, AP, Reuters, all the major newspapers, the entire public school system, every university. The only counters to this virtual monopoly are talk-radio and Fox News that gets the truth out. Yet they are still upset that there are ANY type of opposition to their point of view and that the truth can get out.

Their reaction to the cover of the New York Magazine is typical. What is normal for Republicans happens for once to them and they are aghast and suddenly want to ban free speech and freedom of the press.

A picture is worth a thousand denials. How quaint that the left tarred the Messiah with a brush full of pitch meant for the right.

My apologies. I do know some conservatives who aren’t so wrapped up in their self-pity that they can recognize that the media and Hollywood aren’t out to get them. They are mostly ashamed of seeing bigots like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and Savage embarrass their cause. They cringe when they see Michelle Malkin on her hysterical rants, and they would like to see more civility from both sides of the political spectrum.

Rusty, Mookie, and lgm don’t count. Just because they’re here doesn’t mean they’re conservatives.

Liberals have race and identity politics on the brain. They then figure, if you don’t appreciate our identification with our group, you’re a bigot. That’s the limit of their thinking. So quick to call others bigots.

On CSpan last night was a broadcast of some group on black leadership. I watched ’cause I try to see the other side. But it was sickening. Maybe hundreds in the room, all black liberals. Couldn’t have been a Republican in the room. All talking about black this, black that, and black leadership … what about LEADERSHIP apart from color? Isn’t it part of the problem that we see ourselves as black or white?
