Grow a pair, Obama

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 14, 2008 05:26 AM

Barry,

So, you found this satirical New Yorker cover art “tasteless and offensive.”

Welcome to public life.

Guess what? In Washington, political cartoonists and caricaturists spare no one.

*Update* Chris at The Hot Joints reminds me of this truly disgusting cartoon run in the Obama-worshipping Rolling Stone magazine last month:

Here’s a reminder of the crap Condi Rice has had to deal with over the years:

1. The buck-naked bigotry of Ted Rall:

2. Jeff Danziger’s Condi-as-Prissy cartoon:

3. Pat Oliphant’s exaggerated-lipped parrot caricature:

Much more here.

But hey, that’s nothing compared to the assassination chic targeting President Bush:

bushgun.jpg

killbush.jpg

killbush003.jpg

bushbeheaded.jpg

dope.jpg

Oh, and if you’re going to echo your wife’s claims of special victimhood and decry the satirical “attack” on her, go buy a copy of the Laura Bush-bashing novel, “American Wife,” read what they said about her trip to Afghanistan, and check out the diatribe published by the San Francisco Chronicle smearing her as a “docile doormat” and much worse.

Then, when you’re done digesting all that, wipe your nose, grow a pair, do your little Jay-Z dance move, and take your own advice to your daughters:

No whining.

It clashes with your glow.

***

Much more from Doug Ross and Rick Moran, who says: “Man up.”

Of course not. Shouldn’t we always avoid listening to a candidate’s answer and instead replace it with an answer given by someone else ?

I always do. That’s why I always quote John McCain as having said “We have sort of become a nation of whiners”.

So let’s disregard what Obama actually said and replace it with what we pretend he said. Much easier that way.

What a brilliant bit of mindreading. When Barack Obama says “No Comment”, you read it as him saying “tasteless and offensive”.

Can you teach others to mindread too ?

    Brilliant!

In addition to D.U. and DailyKos, I saw even more similar round-up from Huffington yesterday.

It was also reported that Kos and Huffington had to close down their threads on the subject of Tony Snow for obvious reasons.

After what little I see reported from the threads and “guest blogs” at D.U., Kos and Huffington, I quickly realize that the liberal contributors here who claim that MM threads are “equally” outrageous in their sentiments are either lying or incapable of evaluating moral equivalence.

Yeah – and you don’t see half that condemnation from liberals when, say, Ted Rall creates a racist cartoon, or how the Daily Kos/Democratic Underground lambasts the late Tony Snow.

I don’t know. I think that in light of Michelle’s choice to ignore the Curious George shirts and the crosshairs assassination newspaper and the guy on here who said that Spike Lee justified continuing the “n” word, Michelle’s condemnation of Ann Coulter was more like temporary santiy. Or maybe it was just about frying the big fish and letting the little ones be. When a high profile Dem says something ignorant and embarrassing, they hear it from the party (Hillary on the Obama-Bobby Kennedy connection, Joe Biden on “clean” African Americans). If you spend all your time worrying about the inconsequential scabs on the Daily Kos, you wouldn’t have time for much else.

The difference is that here, those extreme positions are really in the minority. At places like Kos, DU etc., they are the majority of opinion. A simple count on any topic will verify that.

Also, your analogues on DU or Kos or anywhere else are simply banned, whereas here, you are allowed to state your opinion, and others are allowed to criticize it if they can.

Go ahead nyk, RSS, or lgm. Pretend to be a conservative on one of your “tolerant” liberal sites and see how fast you are deleted.

Clearly, the liberals are afraid of criticism. The so called “Fairness Doctrine” proves that unequivocally.

After 8 years of such attacks from the left on the right, do you really expect us to just play nice? You seem to think making bush look like a chimp is ok but somehow obama can’t have the same treatment? Go to hell.

I’m a Democrat, so hell is a given. It’s not OK to make Bush look like a chimp, and it’s not OK to make Obama look like a chimp.

I would love conservatives to at least be self-aware enough to see the irony of telling liberals to stop complaining, when they spend every waking moment whining about the “liberal” media, institutions of higher learning, Hollywood, and pretty much anything else that they’re convinced isn’t being fair to them.

Conservatives, the “grievance mongers” are you.

Again, the difference is that while the lefties look at the media and proclaim that it is conservative, any number of sites tabulate the liberal bias of the press. It is too easy, sad to say.

So in this case, the conservatives have a legitimate grievance, while liberals simply contrive them. And I work at an institution of higher learning, and the liberalism is palpable and oppressive.

You probably don’t know much about Marcus Garvey, but he like Malcolm would probably be a Republican today.

Marcus Garvey also proposed a “back-to-Africa movement” back in the day when conditions were overly oppressive. I know about some of your issues, but I don’t know of any racial animous inside of you, but if you are anti-Black, people like you, Emjem, lilBit-boy, Leatherneck, and Cheryl would virtually cry tears of joy if all Black people were to return to Africa today.

The problem with the cover of the magazine is that it is too close to the truth. Obama is a socialist. His wife comes off as abrasive and sarcastic – and attack dog mentality. The burning American flag relates to his refusal to wear an American flag pin and his world first attitude. Finally, we don’t really know how Obama will treat world terrorism but we do know that he is in the appeasement mode when it comes to Iran, the center of world Islamic extremism.

And no, I don’t want all blacks to return to Africa (most didn’t come from there to begin with, only their ancestors who were sold into slavery by their own people! But that’s another subject.

I have always had black friends. But I don’t see it that way until someone like you comes along. I have always simply seen them as friends. I don’t separate my friends or people I look up to by color. Or people who disgust me. I’ll leave that to people like you and the Obama’s.

I disagree Paul-Cincy, but your point is very well argued.
Issues like this cause fatigue, and boredom. Race relations are at an all-time high in this great country, and white guilt(even for moderates and liberals) is becoming passe. Issues like this may cause a voter to think,
“If I vote for this guy, will there be some big corny racial issue to debate about and ponder every other day, or week, or month….maybe I’ll take another look at McCain, who maybe ain’t as bad as Bush, and we won’t have to keep dealing with the whole Black thing”. It gets exhausting Paul, and I really think Obama and his people should laugh this off, and if the so-called liberal media really wants Obama elected, they’ll stop racializing every freaking thing. This hurts Obama. At least that’s my take.

I have to agree. There is no reason why any American should have “white guilt” as there are no living Americans that ever had slaves (except perhaps as a sexual fetish), but Obama, with virtually no background and running a personality campaign, has to take whatever advantages he can get that doesn’t require experience of any sort.

Seriously, it is the liberals, not the conservatives, that are making this a racial issue, insinuating that if you criticize him, you are a racist or a bigot. They are the ones pitting racial groups against each other.

They insist that if you are black and you don’t vote for him, you are not “black enough” or are an “Uncle Tom.”

Imagine the absurdity of this! If someone said I had to vote for McCain because I am white, I would laugh in his/her face. Why is it that blacks have to vote for Obama, a man that even liberal David Broder cannot discern a position or belief?

If Obama is half white, but identified as black. By that same logic, you would be forced to assume he is a Muslim because his father is Muslim, which is ridiculous. Worse, maybe half the whites and half the blacks have to vote for him!

How about Obama the empty suit stipulates a few positions that he doesn’t change like one of his off the rack suits?

    #229,
Slobbering idiots like Matthews will help blow this election for Obama. Obama should get the image made into a t-shirt, and wear it to his next speech, and walk out with a big smile on his face. On the back of the t-shirt, it should read, “Don’t swiftboat me, bro”. It would be an iconic moment, and propel him far ahead in the polls. Screw the victimhood. Use the image for the joke that it is, and make it work for you.

No, Barack Hussein Obama’s liberalism is what is blowing the election for him, not the way he is running the election. The more Americans find out how Marxist he is, the more they are turning away:

He doesn’t want to drill for oil in America.

He wants to talk to all of America’s enemies.

He calls those who want to secure the border “terrorists.”

He empathizes with terrorists and believes America and Israel have caused them to become terrorists.

He is pretending now to be in the center, which conflicts with all his past positions.

    And how about this?

The only way that Barack Obama could possibly win the election would be to fool as many Americans into actually thinking he is a conservative. . .and that is what he is trying to do.

Unfortunately for him the cover of the New Yorker magazine is a much more accurate represention of his beliefs than his pretend turn to the right; his campaign knows it, hence their reaction to it.

I love the New Yorker….Obviously, the Obamanuts are not as sophisticated as they would like you to think. They didn’t get the joke.

They didn’t get the satire because they all know the cover accurately represents him and his termagant wife, just as the Kerry campaign knew that the “Swiftboat” veterans were telling the truth about him.

I could focus on how he was possibly brain-washed as a POW to be a commie, and is now a Manchurian candidate, or how post-traumatic stress will cause him to be unreliable, and dangersous, but I respect McCain to a certain degree, and I’d rather make my point with off the wall jokes, then use some basis of truth, and possibly confuse people to thinking that my mindset is anywhere near asinine as people like you and Gabe.

Lots of black democrats are all about rejecting victimhood, embracing self-reliance, and taking care of our own homes and communities. I reject the notion that these beliefs are inconsistent with being a democrat.

I’m probably a moderate on most issues, and liberal on others. There are a few issues (like the 2nd amendment), in which I’m very conservative. I haven’t seen a Republican who shares the majority of my beliefs.

    Abstract:
Thank you for the compliment, but some of the conservative blowhards here don’t understand a nuanced, balanced arguement from the left. They would rather box you into a fringe, so that it’s easier for their simple, juvenile minds. That’s alright. The policies, knowledge about issues, experience, integrity, and honesty of a person are what counts the most. I disagree with almost every position Obama stands for (especially his infanticide abortion views) and because of it, would NEVER vote for him. Does that make me a racist?

If the Obama campaign had a sense of humor and just laughed it off rather than whining and crying foul it would have been over in a day.
