Jesse Jackson: N-word for me, but not for thee; Update: Readers say ‘Play the tape!’
Update 10:00pm: Tons of readers are asking me why my colleagues at Fox won’t just play the entire tape and let viewers decide for themselves whether it’s newsworthy. I’m with you guys. I have no idea why they feel so compelled to cover Jesse Jackson’s backside. It’s not like he’ll ever return the favor–and judging from my e-mail, the decision to withhold the tape is annoying the hell out of Fox’s loyal viewers who have stuck with the “We report, you decide” network. I feel your pain.
Example from Jack in West Va.: “As a loyal FNC viewer, I can’t understand why Fox won’t play the entire Jesse Jackson tape in order to corroborate his use of the N-word. I feel Jackson’s hypocrisy is very newsworthy!”

Hey, remember when Jesse Jackson called for a boycott of Seinfeld DVDs to protest Kramer actor Michael Richard’s use of the n-word? The rev-uh-rund had a conniption fit over the word and demanded that everyone refrain from using the word onstage and off.
Refresher:
In the last week, Richards has become better known for hurling the N-word at black hecklers after attempting a lynching joke during the same riff and, later, for apologizing—or trying to, anyway.
“My best friends were African-Americans,” Richards said Sunday on Jackson’s Premiere Radio Network show.
The Jackson gig was the latest in Richards’ reaching-out effort to African-American men who have run for president. Before the radio appearance, the actor was said to have placed contrite phone calls to Jackson and the Reverend Al Sharpton. There was no word if Alan Keyes, a 1996 and 2000 Republican presidential candidate, was sought out.
On his show, Jackson said he hoped the Richards “crisis” would create an opportunity.
On Monday, the civil-rights leader joined others in calling on everyone—blacks, whites, Seinfeld players, presumably included—to refrain from using the N-word, on stage and off.
“Its roots are rooted in hatred and pain and degradation,” Jackson told a Los Angeles press conference. “And whether it’s hatred toward African-Americans or whether it’s self-hatred, a concession toward it is still wrong.”
Wrong–except when he uses it himself:

Larry Elder was talking about this on his radio show yesterday and he reported that it wasn’t just the N word. He reported that Jackson called Obama the N word then Halfbreed N word.

Jackson and his buddy Sharpton are both nothing more than filthy racists. It p___es me off so much whenever I see them on news shows commenting on racial issues. Sharpton goes on Fox News, and they just fawn all over him. Jackson is considered by some to be a great civil rights leader – he’s a phony.
These are not men of God – they are men of themselves and their own greed. They call themselves “Reverend” in an attempt to make people think that they are men of high moral standards. They are just trash. I truly believe that there would be less racial friction in the US if it were not for these two.

The video tape of Jesse Jackson’s appearance on McNeil Lehrer in August, 1979 must be available somewhere. Jackson was on with a lawyer named Theodore Mann and Mann was trying to be a reasonable liberal. Jackson started screaming about “Jews promoting fights in South Africa”. Then Jackson started screaming about Bob Arum and Sol Kerzner and he held all Jews responsible for what he said Arum did. Jackson started screaming at Mann: “You can not sweep this under the rug”. It was a raw antiSemitism bursting out. Then there was Jackson’s infamous trip to the West Bank in 1979 where he made thinly veiled antiSemitic statements. I think it was at this time that Jackson said: “I am sick and tired of hearing about the holocaust”. When all else fails, Jackson can go on the Larry King show and Larry will genuflect before him.

O’Reilly is a clown, just not very funny. He pontificates about everything without doing much research at all. I guess he wants to appear ‘moderate’ so he becomes moderately knowledgeable. I wish they would give Larry Elder O’Reilly’s time slot, give O’Reilly Geraldo’s time slot and give Geraldo the boot. Then they could have a new late show with Jackson and Sharpton called the Justice Brothers–I heard that name somewhere.
Then come November they could add McCain or Obama to the line up and it the Biggest Loser-All mouth No Nuts.
But someone needs to ask–why is Jesse the Justice Brother Jackson so interested in Obama’s pair? Does he not have his own anymore? Are they in a lock box somewhere? Does Hillary have them?

But what I take away from this is that Jackson doesn’t think of HIMSELF and other elite blacks as “niggers or niggas”, but what he thinks of as the “low class” blacks that have always needed Big Daddy Jesse to watch out for them. He is using the word in an elite way, just like whites used to.
I think this is a HUGE insult to blacks, but I’ll bet no one confronts it.

What is on the tape is called “news”. Jackson is a public figure who rarely passes up the chance to get in front of a camera. Jackson has portrayed himself as the epitome of right over all that is wrong, and has castigated more than a few other people for using racial epithets. I recall his exchange with Bill O’Reilly when Bill was surprised at his positive experience in a Harlem restaurant. Jackskon was dripping with derision when he mockingly asked O’Reilly “Bill, what WERE you thinking?”
Fox need to report, and let us decide. That is, if they want to be fair and balanced.
Why does SNL have to be on hiatus right now? There’s so much material. What really kills me about the clip is that Jackson thinks the other dude cares to hear what he has to say. Jesse felt comfortable like he was sharing some kind of “brotha to brotha” time or something. As a TalkingHead, even Al Sharpton has long surpassed Jesse as relevant, and as a smart, reliable pundit, regardless of whether you agree with him.
When I see Jesse on T.V he seems kind of “Punchy” and confused. It’s like he has some type of undiagnosed brain injury or something. He really needs to exit the stage. It’s over. Buh-bye. “They shoot horses don’t they?”(figuratively speaking) Put the old vet out of his misery, out of the limelight, and out of our lives.

I mostly quit watching O’Reilly because his show started leaning towards the tabloid mentality too much. Am I the only one who has noticed that almost every episode has some kind of sexual story in it, gotta pull in those ratings I guess.
